The Orioles acquired Kreiling and right-handers Alex Hoppe and Brock Moore from the Mariners on Monday in exchange for outfielder Taylor Ward, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Kreiling, 24, has spent most of the season on the injured list at Single-A Inland Empire but was cleared to debut for the affiliate last week after completing a three-appearance rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The right-hander has performed well since returning to action in July, logging a 1.69 ERA, 0.56 WHIP and 16:1 K:BB in 10.2 innings between the two minor-league stops. He'll most likely join the Orioles' Carolina League affiliate in Delmarva.

Rodon (elbow) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session at Yankee Stadium on Monday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Giancarlo Stanton (calf) will be among the Yankees players that will take swings against Rodon, who could be cleared to head out on a rehab assignment if his elbow responds well to Monday's workout. Rodon has been on the shelf since July 3 and is likely to require at least a couple of rehab starts or extended simulated games before he's deemed ready to return to the New York rotation.

Bassitt (back) struck out four and allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk Sunday in a rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk. He also hit three batters.

Making the second start of his rehab assignment with Norfolk, Bassitt wasn't especially sharp, but he was able to build up his workload as he works his way back from a late-June procedure to remove bone spurs from his back. The right-hander tossed 67 pitches (47 strikes) and averaged 91.1 mph with his sinker, just under a tick below his season-long average. From a volume standpoint, Bassitt looks like he could be ready to return from the 60-day injured list, though the Orioles may want to see him show improved efficiency in one more rehab appearance before adding him back to the big-league rotation.

The Nationals recalled Alvarez from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

Alvarez will start Monday's game in Philadelphia. The left-hander had not made an appearance for Rochester after being sent there one week ago, so he'll be taking the ball Monday on six days' rest. Alvarez has logged a 4.06 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 58:28 K:BB over seven starts and eight relief outings with the Nationals this season.

The Giants acquired Marquez and right-hander Marty Gair from the Phillies on Monday in exchange for infielder Luis Arraez and right-hander Caleb Kilian, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

The main prize in the two-prospect haul heading to San Francisco, Marquez had emerged as one of the top lower-level arms in the Philadelphia farm system in 2026. Between stops at Single-A Clearwater and High-A Jersey Shore, the 20-year-old righty has compiled a 1.68 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 33.3 K-BB% over 59 innings. Marquez is likely to report to the Giants' High-A affiliate in Eugene.

The Blue Jays acquired Soriano from the Angels on Monday in exchange for infielder Arjun Nimmala, outfielder Eddie Micheletti and right-hander Angel Rivero, Mark Feinsand and Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com report.

After dealing away right-hander Kevin Gausman on Sunday, the 52-60 Blue Jays appeared to be firmly in the sellers camp heading into Monday's deadline. However, the team has replenished its rotation depth with the acquisition of Soriano, who may have carried added appeal for Toronto since he's under club control through 2028. Soriano permitted just one earned run in 37.2 innings while going 5-0 through his first six starts of the season with the Angels, but he's fallen back to earth with a 4.64 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 84:44 K:BB in 85.1 innings over his subsequent 16 outings. The 28-year-old righty could slot into the Toronto rotation as soon as Thursday's game versus the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Sheehan (4-8) took the loss Sunday, allowing five runs on six hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch over 2.2 innings against the Red Sox. He struck out four.

Sheehan couldn't settle in, permitting two runs in the first inning before giving up a trio of solo homers in a third frame that he failed to complete. Sunday marked the right-hander's second-shortest outing of the year and the third time he has surrendered five-plus runs in a game. It's been an incredibly disappointing campaign for the 26-year-old, who owns a 5.29 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 108:30 K:BB across 95.1 innings (20 starts). Sheehan is lined up to make his next start on the road against the Diamondbacks next weekend, though his spot in the rotation could come into question with the addition of Tarik Skubal and the impending return of Blake Snell (elbow).

Bennett (7-4) earned the win Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings against the Dodgers. He struck out four.

Bennett ran into trouble during a three-run third inning but was able to work through it and turn in a strong enough outing to pick up his seventh win. The soft-tossing southpaw has been steady and reliable as a rookie, allowing three or fewer runs in 10 of 12 starts while logging at least five innings in each outing. Across 71.1 innings, Bennett owns a 2.90 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 50:13 K:BB and is tentatively scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Athletics.

Assad is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Dodgers at Wrigley Field, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Assad earned himself a second straight turn through the rotation after he struck out six and allowed one earned run on six hits and two walks in 4.1 innings in a start against the Cardinals on Thursday. The right-hander could have a longer leash Tuesday after tossing just 83 pitches versus St. Louis, but he'll also get a tougher matchup, taking on a Dodgers offense that has posted an MLB-best 113 wRC+ on the season. In addition to facing off against a tough lineup, Assad's chances of earning a win will be further dimmed by going head-to-head with two-time Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal, who will make his Dodgers debut Tuesday.

President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said that Skubal will make his Dodgers debut Tuesday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.

The Dodgers made their acquisition of Skubal official Sunday, with the Tigers receiving three prospects -- outfielders Zyhir Hope and right-handed pitchers River Ryan (hamstring) and Brady Smith -- in exchange for the two-time Cy Young Award winner. Before becoming an unrestricted free agent this summer, the 29-year-old Skubal will headline the Los Angeles rotation over the final two months of the regular season and during the playoffs while the club pursues its third consecutive World Series title. Skubal missed about six and a half weeks earlier this season after requiring a NanoScope surgery to remove a loose body from his left elbow, but he hasn't missed a beat since returning to action June 13. He logged a 2.87 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 71:8 K:BB over 53.1 innings in his final nine starts with Detroit after coming off the injured list.
