Kelly (1-1) took the loss after allowing nine runs on nine hits and three walks in 3.2 innings Thursday against the Yankees. He struck out two.

Thursday's showing was ugly from the get-go for Kelly, who served up a three-run home run to Aaron Judge in the first inning before recording a single out. Trent Grisham added an RBI double in the opening frame and also belted a two-run shot in the third inning, with Kelly's night finally coming to a merciful end after a Jazz Chisholm two-run homer in the fourth. Kelly will look to put this disastrous performance in the rear-view mirror in his next scheduled start, which lines up for early next week at home against the Orioles.

Lodolo (1-1) took the loss after giving up one unearned run on four hits and no walks in 6.2 innings Thursday against the Brewers. He struck out four.

Lodolo was excellent Thursday, tossing three shutout innings to begin the game before his own fielding error set up an unearned run in the fourth. After hurling two more clean innings, the southpaw allowed two singles and was lifted with two outs in the seventh frame. It was the third consecutive 1-0 defeat for the Reds. Lodolo tentatively sets up for a matchup early next in San Francisco, where he'll carry a sharp 1.42 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 5:1 K:BB over 12.2 innings.

Cortes (1-1) picked up the win after throwing six scoreless innings on one hit and two walks Thursday against the Reds. He struck out six.

On the heels of being obliterated for eight runs his first start of the season against the Yankees, Cortes bounced back in a big way Thursday and didn't allow a baserunner in four of his six frames. Besides a Jose Trevino double in the third inning, Cincinnati offered very little resistance. Cortes will be working with some momentum in his next time out, but a scheduled matchup in Colorado in the middle of next week renders the left-hander a risky fantasy option.

Myers (oblique) threw 38 pitches and completed two innings in a session of live batting practice Thursday, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.

Live batting practice was Myers' last hurdle before being cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment Tuesday. He's set to make three starts with Triple-A Nashville before potentially joining the big-league rotation in late April.

Ryan (0-1) took the loss Thursday against the Astros, allowing four runs on five hits across five innings. He struck out six.

Ryan started the day on a high note, striking out the side in the first inning. However, then gave up back-to-back home runs to Christian Walker and Jeremy Pena to start the second before Houston added two more runs in the fourth. The 28-year-old Ryan has allowed five earned runs on 10 hits while striking out 11 through his first 10 innings this season. He'll look to get in the win column in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week in Kansas City.

Brown (1-1) earned the win Thursday over the Twins, allowing two runs on five hits over six innings. He struck out eight.

The Twins got to Brown early Thursday, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning. However, the right-hander would settle in and follow up with five scoreless frames to turn in a second straight quality start. The 26-year-old Brown has allowed four earned runs while striking out 15 through his first 12 innings this year. Brown is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Mariners in his next outing.

Senzatela (0-1) took the loss against the Philies on Thursday, allowing one unearned run on 10 hits over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

Only one of the Phillies' 10 hits against Senzatela went for extra bases, allowing the right-hander to remarkably escape without giving up an earned run. However, the Rockies were held scoreless until the ninth inning, sticking Senzatela with his first loss. Senzatela has yet to allow an earned run through his first two starts (9.2 innings) despite giving up 19 hits. He'll hope that luck continues in his next start, currently scheduled for next week at home against the Brewers.

Atlanta transferred Lopez (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Lopez is scheduled for arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder, and a best-case scenario would see the right-hander return within a few months of the procedure. Until then, he'll concede his 40-man roster spot to Jason Delay, who was acquired by Atlanta on Thursday in a trade with the Pirates.

Manager Rob Thomson said Wednesday that Painter is scheduled to throw live batting practice Friday, Destiny Lugardo of Phillies Nation reports.

If all goes well there, the next steps in Painter's throwing progression should become much clearer, with Thomson saying that "Friday will determine a lot of things." Philadelphia has slow-played Painter's recovery from 2023 Tommy John surgery, and the right-hander's next steps figure to entail a rather lengthy rehab stint in the minor leagues. The 2021 first-round pick represents Philadelphia's top prospect, and he remains on track to get his first taste of major-league action sometime around midseason in 2025. The Phillies have a loaded rotation and are still likely to continue handling things cautiously with Painter, who hasn't yet pitched at the Triple-A level in his career.

Suarez (back) could face live hitters in his next scheduled throwing session before the end of the week, MLB.com reports.

Suarez continues to progress in his recovery from lower-back stiffness, and he'll likely need to go on at least a brief minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining Philadelphia's roster. That could be the next step in his throwing progression, barring any setbacks in this weekend's slated session, and the left-hander remains on track to return to the major leagues before the end of April. Taijuan Walker is occupying a spot in the Phillies' rotation in Suarez's stead, and he threw six scoreless innings with four strikeouts while earning the win in Thursday's start against the Rockies.
