  • Shota Imanaga SP | CHC

Cubs' Shota Imanaga: Fans eight in no-decision

Imanaga did not factor into the decision Monday against Atlanta, allowing seven hits and three walks over five shutout innings. He struck out eight.

With his five shutout frames Monday, Imanaga shaved his ERA down to 0.96, a sterling mark for his first 46.2 major league innings. However, the Atlanta offense made the Cubs lefty work hard for his scoreless night as they had 10 baserunners and drew three walks, both setting season-highs allowed for Imanaga. He draws a much easier opponent in his next start, scheduled against Pittsburgh at home this upcoming weekend.

  • Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL

Braves' Reynaldo Lopez: Exits with tight back

Lopez was lifted from Monday's start against the Cubs early due to back tightness, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. He didn't factor into the decision after allowing two hits and two walks while striking out four over five scoreless innings.

Lopez was removed from the game firing 71 pitches, and he likely would've gone back out for the sixth had his back not become an issue. He'll be considered day-to-day leading up to his next outing, but the club expects him to be ready for his next start, per Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

  • Brandon Sproat SP | MIL

Mets' Brandon Sproat: Jumps to Double-A

The Mets promoted Sproat from High-A Brooklyn to Double-A Binghamton on Monday.

The No. 56 overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, Sproat has moved quickly through the Mets' farm system less than a year into his professional career. Though he didn't make his pro debut last summer due to the heavy workload he logged in the spring during his final collegiate campaign at the University of Florida, Sproat was pushed to High-A to begin the 2024 season and passed the test with flying colors. Over his six outings (five starts) with Brooklyn, Sproat compiled a 1.07 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 33:16 K:BB in 25.1 innings.

  • Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Starting Game 2 of twin bill

Parker will start the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

This won't disrupt Parker's routine, as he was already scheduled to take the mound Tuesday. He'll get the ball for the nightcap after Trevor Williams toes the rubber in Game 1.

  • Nationals' Trevor Williams: Nationals-White Sox postponed

Williams and the Nationals won't play Monday against the White Sox after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Chicago, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Tuesday. Williams' next start will simply be pushed back a day to one half of the twin bill, and the White Sox will do the same with their scheduled starter for Monday, Chris Flexen.

  • Tylor Megill SP | NYM

Mets' Tylor Megill: Role not yet determined

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that he hasn't yet committed to including Megill (shoulder) in the rotation once he's activated from the 15-day injured list, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Megill, who has been on the IL since April 1 with a shoulder strain, has been building up as a starter during his rehab assignment. In his fourth rehab start this past Sunday with Triple-A Syracuse, Megill struck out six over 5.1 scoreless innings while tossing 74 pitches, but with the big-league rotation looking crowded at the moment, the right-hander may have to settle for a multi-inning relief role upon his reinstatement. The Mets could have Megill make another rehab start in order to bide more time in deciding what his role may look like prior to activating him.

  • Jordan Wicks SP | CHC

Cubs' Jordan Wicks: Tosses side session Monday

Wicks (forearm) threw a bullpen session Monday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Wicks has been throwing off a mound for about a week after he had been placed on the 15-day injured list April 28 with a left forearm strain. The Cubs haven't yet offered up a concrete target date for his return from the IL, but if Wicks is able to resume facing hitters within the next few days, he'll likely require just one minor-league rehab start -- if any at all -- before being activated. Wicks had gone 1-2 with a 4.70 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 28:9 K:BB across 23 innings over his five starts before being shut down with the forearm injury.

  • Mets' Adrian Houser: Drawing start Wednesday

Manager Carlos Mendoza said Houser will start Wednesday's game in Philadelphia, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Houser made one relief appearance following his brief demotion to the bullpen earlier this month, tossing two scoreless frames last Friday against Atlanta. The right-hander isn't guaranteed any additional starts beyond Wednesday, especially with Tylor Megill (shoulder) being a possibility to return from the 15-day injured list later this week or next week. Houser holds an 8.16 ERA in six starts this season.

  • A.J. Puk RP | ARI

Marlins' A.J. Puk: Returns from injured list

The Marlins activated Puk (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

It's been a little more than three weeks since Puk landed on the IL with left shoulder fatigue, but he's ready to return after yielding two runs with a 7:0 K:BB over 3.2 innings across his four minor-league rehab appearances. Puk struggled mightily as a member of the Miami rotation earlier this season, but he'll be used in relief in his return from the IL and should eventually see usage in high-leverage spots.

  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Giants' Blake Snell: Expects another rehab start

Snell (adductor) said that he expects to make another rehab start before returning from the 15-day injured list, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Snell had a dominant first rehab start with Single-A San Jose on Sunday, throwing an immaculate inning on his way to seven strikeouts across four perfect frames. The lefty threw just 46 pitches in the outing but did get in an additional 15 tosses in the bullpen after the appearance. Snell noted that the decision on where he will pitch next will ultimately be made by manager Bob Melvin and the team's medical staff, but the southpaw believes he could use another tune-up against stiffer competition. Snell is tracking toward a return from the IL early next week.
