Jameson Taillon SP | CHC
Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Blanks Nats for 11th win
Taillon (11-8) earned the win Friday over the Nationals, allowing two hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out four.
It's the fourth straight quality start for Taillon -- he's allowed just three runs across 25 innings in that span. The 32-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.41 with a 1.14 WHIP and 123:31 K:BB across 27 starts (158.1 innings) this year. Taillon will look to end the regular season on a high note in his final outing, which is likely to come next week on the road in Philadelphia.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Throws bullpen session Friday
Kershaw (toe) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Manager Dave Roberts said that Kershaw's injured big left toe isn't at 100 percent, and the injury has prevented the veteran southpaw from executing pitches in a timely fashion, per Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times. Kershaw may need another bullpen session or two before facing live hitters as he aims to return from the 15-day injured list before the start of the playoffs.

Ryne Nelson SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ryne Nelson: Throwing bullpen Saturday
Nelson (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Nelson has been on the injured list since last Saturday due to shoulder inflammation. The fact he's been cleared to return to a mound after just a week on the IL bodes well for his chances of being activated after a minimum-length stay, but he still has a few more boxes to check before the D-backs can pencil him back into their rotation.

Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL
Braves' Reynaldo Lopez: Resumes throwing
Lopez (shoulder) began playing catch Friday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Friday marks the first time Lopez has done any sort of throwing since landing on the injured list Sept. 11 with right shoulder inflammation. He remains without a timeline for his return, though one may emerge once he's cleared to throw off a mound.

Kodai Senga SP | NYM
Mets' Kodai Senga: Rehab outing set
Senga (calf) will throw up to 35 pitches over an inning or two with Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
The right-hander was hoping to make a rehab appearance with Syracuse this weekend before the end of the Triple-A season, and he's now on the schedule for Saturday. Assuming that appearance goes well, Senga could join the Mets in a relief capacity early next week for the final games of the regular season.

Jordan Hicks RP | CHW
Giants' Jordan Hicks: Back to IL with shoulder injury
The Giants placed Hicks on the 15-day injured list Friday with right shoulder inflammation, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
It's the same injury he returned from less than a week ago and this trip back to the IL will end his season. Hicks' campaign started off promisingly as a member of the Giants' rotation with a 2.33 ERA in his first 11 starts. However, he finished with a 6.10 ERA in his last 18 appearances, getting demoted to the bullpen in the second half in addition to the two IL trips. The Giants plan to put him back into their rotation in 2025.

Hunter Greene SP | CIN
Reds' Hunter Greene: Cleared to return Sunday
Greene (elbow) will return from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday versus the Pirates, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Greene will be on a limited pitch count after throwing a 52-pitch simulated game Tuesday. As long as he comes out of Sunday's outing with no problems, he'll be lined up to make one last start during the final weekend of the regular season in Chicago against the Cubs. Greene has been sidelined since mid-August with right elbow inflammation.

Andrew Abbott SP | CIN
Reds' Andrew Abbott: Ruled out for rest of season
Abbott (shoulder) will not return this season, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Abbott has been throwing and will continue to do so in hopes of going into the offseason without any restrictions, but there's not enough time left in the regular season for him to rejoin the Reds' rotation. The left-hander will finish with a 3.72 ERA and 114:52 K:BB over 138 innings covering 25 starts for Cincinnati this season.

Shaun Anderson RP | LAA
Marlins' Shaun Anderson: Contract selected
The Marlins selected Anderson's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.
The right-hander remained in the organization after being designated for assignment by Miami in August, and he'll now receive another look in the big leagues. Anderson has made five appearances with the Marlins and Rangers this season and has a 9.64 ERA, 2.29 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB over 14 innings.

Jordan Wicks SP | CHC
Cubs' Jordan Wicks: Back to IL with oblique strain
The Cubs placed Wicks on the 15-day injured list Friday with a right oblique strain, Ryan Herrera of AllCHGO.com reports.
It's the same injury which sidelined Wicks for more than two months before he returned at the beginning of September. He posted a 7.50 ERA and 10:10 K:BB over four starts since his activation, so it's possible the lefty was never fully healthy. Wicks finishes the season having been limited to just 46 innings due to injury, holding a 5.48 ERA and 42:20 K:BB.
