Verlander (0-1) took the loss Tuesday against Philadelphia. He allowed four runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out one over 5.2 innings.

Verlander put the Giants behind when he gave up two runs in the second inning, including a solo shot by J.T. Realmuto. Verlander recovered to toss three scoreless frames, but he was tagged for two more runs in the sixth inning and wasn't able to complete the frame. While he's generated a 32.6 percent whiff rate, Verlander has yet to make it out of the sixth inning in any of his four starts in 2025. He has a 6.75 ERA and 1.77 WHIP across 18.2 innings to begin the season, and he'll look to get back on track in his next start, tentatively slated for this weekend on the road against the Angels.

Fedde (1-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Astros after giving up one run on six hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out five.

Fedde managed to escape two bases-loaded jams, with one coming in the second inning by getting Mauricio Dubon to fly out and another in the fourth after by forcing Jose Altuve to fly out. Jake Meyers plated a run on a single in the sixth, but Fedde was able to induce a double play to close his outing on a positive note. Although the veteran right-hander carries a solid 3.43 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through four starts (21 innings), his 10:11 K:BB is a cause for concern heading into next week's tough matchup in Atlanta.

Luzardo did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Giants. He allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four across 5.1 innings.

Coming off two consecutive quality starts, Luzardo began Tuesday's game strong and extended his scoreless innings streak to eight before giving up a two-run single to Casey Schmitt in the fourth frame. Luzardo bounced back with two punchouts in the fifth inning but was tagged for another run after he was lifted in the sixth frame. The 27-year-old southpaw ranks fourth in the majors with a 36.2 percent strikeout rate and has a 2.31 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 29:7 K:BB across 23.1 innings this season. Luzardo is slated to make his next start this weekend at home against the Marlins.

Miller is expected to be called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Wednesday's game against the Rockies in Los Angeles, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Miller was rumored to be in consideration to draw a start with with big-league club in the near future, and his chance will come Wednesday. The right-hander has produced a 2.25 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with 11 strikeouts over 12 innings in three appearances with Oklahoma City so far this season. Miller struggled to a 8.52 ERA and 1.77 WHIP over 56 innings in 13 starts with the Dodgers in 2024.

Canning won't start as scheduled Wednesday against the Twins due to an illness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander has been decent through three starts with a 4.20 ERA and 13:8 K:BB over 15 innings, but his next outing will be pushed back due to the illness. The specifics of the ailment aren't clear, but assuming it's a minor issue, Canning could be ready to take the mound Thursday or Friday versus the Cardinals.

Manager Pat Murphy indicated Tuesday that Alexander will return to operating as a long reliever, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

The left-hander pitched well in his first start of the season with 5.2 scoreless innings, but he was less effective in the past two outings and surrendered eight runs (four earned) Monday against the Tigers. Jose Quintana recently joined the rotation while Tobias Myers (oblique) is finishing up a rehab assignment, as Milwaukee's rotation is regaining some pieces. Prospect Logan Henderson was called up Tuesday and could take Alexander's spot in the rotation this weekend versus the A's.

The Brewers optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

After Tyler Alexander was tagged for eight runs (four earned) over four innings in Monday's start against the Tigers, Rodriguez came on in relief and tossed 68 pitches across five innings. The Brewers needed a fresh arm and recalled prospect Logan Henderson to take Rodriguez's spot.

The Brewers recalled Henderson from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Henderson is one of the Brewers' top pitching prospects and could be in line to make a start for an injury-riddled Milwaukee rotation at some point this week. Quinn Priester and Jose Quintana are currently penciled in for Tuesday and Wednesday before the team hosts the Athletics over the weekend. In order to make room for Henderson, the Brewers optioned Elvin Rodriguez to Triple-A after he fired five innings of relief during Monday's 9-1 loss to the Tigers.

Weathers (forearm) threw a bullpen session at LoanDepot Park on Tuesday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

The left-hander will throw a couple additional bullpen sessions before being cleared for a rehab assignment if all goes well. Coming back from a left flexor strain, Weathers hopes to rejoin the Marlins' rotation by the first week of May.

Miley (elbow) will throw three innings in an extended spring training game Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

If that goes well, he could be cleared to begin a formal rehab assignment. Miley is working his way back from a hybrid UCL repair he had on his left elbow last May. The lefty is on a minor-league contract but has a good chance to make starts for the Reds eventually if he shows he's healthy and pitches well.
