The Diamondbacks placed Soroka on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right arm inflammation.

The right-hander struggled in his most recent start Saturday versus the Reds, surrendering six runs on six hits and three walks across 3.1 innings. Soroka missed nearly two months earlier this summer due to a glute injury, and an arm injury offers the possibility of a longer absence. He'll be eligible for reinstatement in early September but doesn't yet have an official timeline for his return.

Mize had X-rays on his sprained right ankle come back clean Sunday and hopes to make his next start, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander departed Saturday's start against the Twins during the third inning due to the injury, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury. The Padres have a scheduled day off Thursday and could use that break to provide Mize some extra rest by pushing him to the back of the rotation, but for now he tentatively lines up to take the mound next weekend in Tampa Bay.

Canning (4-9) earned the win over Minnesota on Saturday, allowing three hits and issuing one walk while striking out one batter over 3.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Casey Mize started the game for San Diego but left after just 2.2 frames due to an ankle injury. Canning helped spare the Padres bullpen from exhausting its arms by covering 3.1 innings on 46 pitches (27 strikes). The veteran right-hander limited the Twins to just three hits (all singles) in his longest outing since July 18, which was when he made his final start before being moved to a bulk-relief role. Canning has been much more effective out of the bullpen, and over his past seven appearances he's logged a 3-0 record with a 2.70 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB across 13.1 innings.

Wilkinson is slated to start Sunday's game against the Red Sox in Boston.

Wilkinson will be making his second appearance after tossing two scoreless innings as a starter in his MLB debut Wednesday in Cleveland. Since he'll be taking the hill on just three days' rest, Wilkinson is likely to be deployed as more of an opener Sunday, even though he had gotten fully stretched out at Triple-A Sacramento prior to his call-up earlier in the week. The Giants are likely to treat the series finale at Fenway Park as a bullpen game and will lean on a number of relievers to cover the remaining innings once Wilkinson exits.

Williamson (shoulder) allowed one run on four hits and four walks while striking out five over four innings for Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.

It was Williamson's fifth rehab appearance and fourth with the Bats. He faced adversity throughout his four innings Saturday but managed to limit the damage. The left-hander upped his pitch count to 75 (41 strikes), which indicates a return to the majors could be on the horizon.

Soroka (8-4) allowed six runs on six hits, three walks and a hit batsman while striking out three over 3.1 innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Reds.

This was Soroka's worst start in three outings since he returned from a strained glute. He didn't give up a home run, but the Reds' top half of the order was able to collect two doubles and a triple off of him. Soroka is now at a 3.40 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 91:24 K:BB through 95.1 innings over 18 starts this season. This was just the fourth time he's allowed four or more runs, so consider it a blip on the radar. Soroka has a good chance to bounce back since his next start is projected to come in San Francisco.

Lowder (5-8) allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out one over six innings to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Lowder has allowed eight runs (seven earned) over his last 12.2 innings after giving up a total of eight runs across the four starts (22.1 frames) before that. He was tagged for a pair of home runs Saturday, marking the first time he's given up multiple homers since June 24 versus the Brewers. Lowder has a 5.13 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 83:43 K:BB through 107 innings over 23 games (20 starts) this season. He'll look to build off this win when he makes his next start on the road versus the Cubs.

Hughes (0-5) picked up the loss after allowing three runs on four hits and two walks Saturday against the Guardians. He struck out two.

Hughes has yet to record a win this season through nine appearances after picking up his fifth loss Saturday, and he hasn't topped three strikeouts over his last three starts. However, the 25-year-old made just one key mistake in this one, allowing a three-run homer to Jo Adell in the fourth. On the year, Hughes owns a 6.54 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 35:15 K:BB over 42.2 innings. The right-hander is slated to make his next start Thursday against the Nationals.

Scott did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 10-5 win over the White Sox after allowing four runs on five hits and four walks in 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Scott was unable to make it through five innings after giving up two long balls Saturday. The 27-year-old was unable to pick up a second straight victory but still recorded his seventh consecutive game with six or more strikeouts. The right-hander owns a 4-3 record, 3.73 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 111:39 K:BB in 89.1 innings this season.

Skubal (8-7) earned the win against the Pirates on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk in seven innings. He struck out 11.

After coughing up three runs in the opening frame, the All-Star left-hander responded by shutting Pittsburgh down the rest of the way to notch his first victory with the Dodgers. He racked up double-digit strikeouts Saturday for the third time this year, and he wound up posting his 12th quality start over 20 appearances on the season as well. Skubal, who has a strong 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB across 24 innings since being traded to the Dodgers, is slated to face his former Tigers teammates in Detroit next weekend.
