Adam Wainwright SP | STL
Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Throws bullpen Tuesday
Wainwright (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
The veteran right-hander's session was his first during his current rehab. Wainwright will be evaluated Wednesday to determine if he's able to throw another session later this week. However, even if he's able to return before the end of the regular season, he's not necessarily a lock to rejoin the starting rotation.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: Can't finish four frames in loss to Dodgers
Cueto (7-8) lasted just 3.2 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers, surrendering four runs on six hits and four walks while striking out eight. He also hit a batter.
After a pair of positive outings in a row -- including a high-degree-of-difficulty performance at Coors Field -- Cueto stumbled yet again, as he has so often this year. The veteran righty, long one of the game's most reliable arms, has seen everything go wrong this year, with his ERA (4.58) and WHIP (1.41) both at their worst levels since his rookie campaign of 2008. Assuming the Giants stay on schedule, Cueto won't start again until next Tuesday at home against Colorado, thanks to a couple off days.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cubs' Jose Quintana: Goes seven for first time since mid-July
Quintana (10-11) held the Mets to a pair of runs on six hits over seven innings en route to a win Tuesday. He struck out seven, walked one, and hit a pair of batters.
This marks Quintana's first seven-inning outing since July 16, which was also his first start as a member of the Cubs. It's also the third time in his last six starts that he's hit two batters, but fortunately for the lefty's fantasy owners, that stat doesn't count in most leagues. He's been noticeably better in 11 starts since joining the Cubs (3.84 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) than he was across town earlier this season (4.49 ERA, 1.32 WHIP), so Quintana should remain a regular in fantasy lineups over the season's final weeks. He lines up to make his next start against the Cardinals on Sunday.

Taijuan Walker SP | LAA
Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Logs quality start despite five walks
Walker didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Rockies after allowing two runs on four hits with five walks and six strikeouts over six innings.
Despite tying his season high in walks, Walker was able to keep Colorado off the board except for a Carlos Gonzalez two-run homer in the third inning. Walker exited after six frames with the game tied 2-2, but Gonzalez was able to break that tie with another long ball in the seventh to give the visitors a 4-2 victory. The 25-year-old righty has a sparkling 1.26 ERA over his past five starts and should maintain that dominant form Sunday in San Francisco.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Steps up in big game Tuesday
Gray (8-4) allowed just two runs on seven hits while striking out 10 without a walk over seven strong innings to earn the win Tuesday in Arizona.
Backed by a pair of Carlos Gonzalez two-run homers, Gray pitched like the ace of Colorado's staff in this NL West rivalry game with wild-card implications. The 25-year-old righty tied his season high in both strikeouts and innings pitched while issuing zero free passes for only the second time in 17 starts. Look for him to build on this effort at home Sunday against the league-worst Padres offense.
-
Lance Lynn SP | STL
Cardinals' Lance Lynn: Picks up 11th win
Lynn (11-7) got the win Tuesday against the Reds after allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with no walks and three strikeouts over five innings.
This wasn't Lynn's sharpest outing, but St. Louis' offense bailed him out in a 13-4 win. The righty has been a dependable source of victories on a perennially decent Cardinals team, reaching double-digit wins in each of his five full major-league seasons. He had notched quality starts in 11 of his previous 12 outings coming in, so expect Lynn to bounce back in his next start Sunday against the Cubs.

Julio Teheran SP | BAL
Braves' Julio Teheran: Tosses seven scoreless innings in win Tuesday
Teheran (11-11) tossed seven scoreless innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Nationals, allowing seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
Teheran scattered baserunners throughout the evening, but he induced nine groundball outs to help avoid serious damage. He threw 65 percent of his pitches for strikes while delivering his fourth quality start in the last six tries. Teheran's recent success has lowered his ERA to 4.57 -- his lowest mark in roughly four months. He will look to keep it going in a favorable matchup Sunday against the Mets.

Gerrit Cole SP | NYY
Pirates' Gerrit Cole: Allows five runs in loss to Brewers
Cole (11-10) was saddled with the loss in Tuesday's game against the Brewers. He allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out 10 over six innings.
Cole tallied a season-high 10 strikeouts, but was undone by a rough third inning in which he allowed four runs on four hits and a walk. He was able to navigate through the next three frames with no further damage, but was stuck with the loss as the Pirates' offense was only able to muster up two runs on the night. Cole has now allowed five earned runs in three of his last five starts and his ERA now sits at a very pedestrian 4.04. He lines up for a road matchup with the Reds on Sunday.

Kenta Maeda SP | NYY
Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Has upcoming start pushed back
Maeda will make his next start on Sept. 20 or Sept. 21 against the Phillies, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Maeda was originally scheduled to take the mound this Sunday against the Nationals, but manager Dave Roberts has decided to replace him with Hyun-Jin Ryu for that contest and shift Maeda back a few days to face off against the Phillies, who represent a much more enticing matchup.
-
Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: To make next start Sunday
Ryu will make his next start Sunday against the Nationals, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Ryu made his last start Sep. 5 against the Diamondbacks and had his next start skipped in order to give him some additional time off. The southpaw will slot back into the rotation for Sunday's contest against the Nationals, with original scheduled starter Kenta Maeda being bumped back to throw next Wednesday or Thursday in the series against the Phillies.
