Tyler Anderson SP | LAA
Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Gives up seven to Diamondbacks
Anderson was shelled by the Diamondbacks on Friday, giving up seven earned runs on five hits and walking four over 2.1 innings.
Neither pitcher had a banner day in this one as Anderson's counterpart Robbie Ray gave up six earned runs of his own in what turned into a 9-8 slugfest in favor of Arizona. It was an inauspicious start to the season for Anderson, who has logged a 4.09 ERA in his 200.1 big-league innings coming into this season. Anderson has a decent strikeout rate in his favor with 180 career punchouts to his name, but his lack of a consistent track record makes him a risky fantasy play until shown otherwise.

Robbie Ray SP | SD
Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Gives up seven runs to Rockies
Ray (1-0) picked up the victory despite getting lit up for seven runs (six earned) in five innings in what eventually became a 9-8 Diamondbacks victory over the Rockies on Friday.
Ray struggled against a potent Colorado lineup, giving up home runs to Ian Desmond, Gerardo Parra and Charlie Blackmon. He still picked up the win, however, thanks to some great run support from his Arizona teammates. Ray did have eight strikeouts in the game and he's coming off a breakthrough campaign in which he went 15-5 with a 2.89 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP in 162 innings, so this rough outing can probably be chalked up to an early season hiccup in a difficult matchup.

Colin Rea SP | CHC
Padres' Colin Rea: Transferred to 60-day DL
Rea was moved to the 60-day disabled list prior to Friday's game.
Rea was officially placed on the 10-day DL earlier this week and is not expected to be back in action until this summer after straining his right lat in early March. The right-hander missed the entire 2017 season due to Tommy John surgery.

Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA
Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Officially called up
Lucchesi was added to the Padres' active roster prior to his major-league debut against Milwaukee on Friday.
In a corresponding move, catcher Raffy Lopez was optioned to Triple-A El Paso. Over 60.1 innings of work at the Double-A level last season, Lucchesi posted a 1.79 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with a 53:14 K:BB.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Making minor-league start
Musgrove will throw a minor-league start Saturday, Elizabeth Bloom of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Musgrove battled a shoulder injury throughout camp, though he made the Pirates' Opening Day roster. He'll throw against minor leaguers Sunday before making his first major-league start sometime during the Pirates' series against the Reds, which begins April 5. That would mean Musgrove would miss his first turn in the rotation, but barring any setbacks shouldn't miss any more than that.

Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Lined up for Tuesday start
Flaherty was officially recalled from Triple-A Memphis prior to Opening Day.
The Cards had optioned him to minor-league camp earlier in March, but the placement of Adam Wainwright on the 10-day DL opened the door for Flaherty to begin the season on the Cards' 25-man roster. Flaherty is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Brewers at Miller Park.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Fans eight in Opening Day win
Corbin (1-0) gave up two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out eight over 5.2 innings in a win over the Rockies on Thursday.
His outing was bookended by a pair of homers allowed -- DJ LeMahieu in the first and Nolan Arenado in the sixth -- but in between, Corbin was very good. The eight strikeouts were more than he had in his first three starts combined last year (seven). It's just one game, but this was an encouraging performance from a player who was going outside of the top 200 on average during draft season.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Only goes four in opener
Gray (0-1) allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over four innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
This is how Gray's night began: single, single, walk, double, mound visit. He settled down from there, but the damage was done. Gray has posted exciting strikeout rates since breaking into the league in 2015 (career 9.5 K/9), and he has a more favorable road matchup on tap next (at San Diego). There's no reason to abandon ship after one shaky outing.

Chase Anderson RP | TEX
Brewers' Chase Anderson: Posts strong stat-line on Opening Day
Anderson completed six innings Thursday against the Padres, allowing no earned runs on one hit and three walks while striking out six.
Anderson took his first step toward legitimizing his breakout 2017 campaign with his Opening Day start. Despite the strong surface numbers, Anderson's control was a bit concerning as he walked three batters and started just 10 of the 23 batters he faced with a strike. There's no reason for serious concern after a single start, but Anderson will need to improve his control as he faces more difficult opponents in future starts.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Allows one run in loss
Kershaw (0-1) gave up one run on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings in a loss to the Giants on Thursday.
Kershaw made only one real mistake pitch -- Joe Panik took it to right field for a home run. That was enough to send Kershaw to his first career Opening Day loss, as the Dodgers' offense failed to do anything against Ty Blach and company. Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reported during the outing that Kershaw's fastball was sitting between 90-91 mph, a tick below his average from last season. Fantasy owners shouldn't overreact, but it's worth keeping an eye on in Kershaw's next few starts. He lines up to face the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Tuesday.
