  • Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA

Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Stays hot in win

Lucchesi (2-0) struck out nine over six innings while allowing one run on five hits en route to earning the win over the Giants on Sunday.

The young left-hander turned in another strong outing, and the nine-strikeout, zero-walk performance runs his K:BB to a terrific 25:4 while lowering his ERA to 1.66. The fact that Lucchesi had had just 10 appearances prior to this season above High-A -- all last year at Double-A San Antonio -- could scare away some, but thus far he's given no reason to think his hot start is a fluke. He's slated to take his next turn through the rotation Saturday at Arizona.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Records stellar outing

Kershaw (1-2) allowed one run on two hits while striking out 12 across seven innings Sunday as he picked up the win against the Diamondbacks.

Kershaw is off to a great start this season, despite a 1-2 record. He owns a 1.73 ERA with a 0.88 WHIP across 26 innings and hasn't allowed more than two runs in each of his first four appearances. Kershaw will look to put together another solid performance in his next start, which figures to come Saturday against the Nationals.

  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Earns win with stellar outing Sunday

Martinez (2-1) threw seven shutout innings, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out 11 in Sunday's 3-2 victory over the Reds.

While his four walks are the one blemish on what was an otherwise superb outing, Martinez turned in another terrific start and earned his second win Sunday. This marked the second time this season that he struck out at least 10 batters. The ace has now posted a 1.75 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over four starts (25.2 innings) and has allowed more than one run in an outing just once in that time. His next start projects to be another matchup against the Reds on Saturday.

  • Jose Urena SP | LAA

Marlins' Jose Urena: Allows four rus in loss Sunday

Urena (0-3) surrendered four runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Pirates.

Urena's struggles returned Sunday, as his losing effort brought his ERA and WHIP up to 5.57 and 1.43, respectively. Urena has surpassed the five-inning mark just once after making four starts this season, and he doesn't present much value in terms of wins as his team has one of the league's most under-powered offenses. Urena's next scheduled start will be Saturday when the Marlins face the Brewers.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Allows four runs in no-decision

Strasburg allowed four runs on four hits and one walk across six innings en route to a no-decision Sunday against the Rockies. He struck out five.

The only blemish through Strasburg's first five innings was a solo home run from Charlie Blackmon, but he allowed three runs on three hits and a walk to give up the lead before finishing the sixth. He likely could've gone deeper into the game, calling it a day after just 88 pitches, but a stressful sixth likely influenced the pitching change. Strasburg still owns a respectable 3.08 ERA to go with a 0.99 WHIP, but he's delivered only two quality starts through his first four outings, and his 9.2 K/9 is somewhat low by his standards. He'll look to achieve a better result Saturday against the Dodgers.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Fans 11 in no-decision

Syndergaard allowed one unearned run on two hits and a walk across 5.1 innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Brewers. He struck out 11.

Syndergaard pounded the strike zone as he set a new season high in punchouts, but an elevated pitch count caused his removal with just one out in the sixth inning. He was dominant at times and put just three men on base, but a lack of early run support squandered his chance at earning his third win. Syndergaard will carry a rebounding 2.95 ERA and a stellar 13.9 K/9 into Friday's start against the Braves.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Confirmed for Tuesday start

Cueto (ankle) will be activated from the disabled list and start Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Cueto will return to the mound after missing a week and a half with a sprained left ankle. He'll face a tough test in his return, as the Diamondbacks own the eighth-best team OPS in the majors.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Sent to DL

Walker was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday with right forearm inflammation.

Walker's injury cropped up during his Saturday start against the Dodgers. He initially wasn't going to undergo an MRI on his forearm, but manager Torey Lovullo now says that he'll undergo that testing Monday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports. A timeline for his return should come into focus following his MRI. He'll be eligible to return April 25 at the earliest.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Start pushed to Monday

Teheran will start Monday's game against the Phillies.

Teheran was scheduled to start Sunday against the Cubs, but that game was postponed due to inclement weather. He'll now be tasked with taking on a more manageable Phillies lineup.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Not scheduled for MRI

Walker is not currently scheduled to undergo an MRI on his injured right forearm, Nick Piecoro of AZCentral Sports reports.

Walker exited his start Saturday with right forearm tightness but said he "felt strong" and "everything checked out good" after the game. Because no MRI has been scheduled, the team probably does not deem the injury as serious, though manager Torey Lovullo stated things could change. It's unclear if Walker will make his scheduled start Friday against the Padres.
