Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Allows one run while earning third win

Mikolas (3-0) got the win Sunday, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out six over seven innings against the Reds.

After a pair of rocky outings to open the season, Mikolas has now notched back-to-back starts allowing only one earned run over seven innings in wins over the Reds. It's tough to read too much into that, as Cincinnati ranks last in all of baseball in runs per game, but the 29-year-old did display terrific command, throwing 67 of his 85 pitches for strikes. It was also the third time in his four starts that he didn't issue a walk, leaving his K:BB at a sterling 20:2. After only facing the Brewers and Reds thus far, Mikolas lines up to take on another NL Central foe in the Pirates on Friday.

  • Luis Castillo SP | CHW

Reds' Luis Castillo: Back in loss column Sunday

Castillo (1-3) took the loss Sunday, allowing three runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out three over five innings against the Cardinals.

Castillo allowed a lot of baserunners in this one -- the seven hits and four walks were both his highest totals of the season thus far -- so he was actually somewhat fortunate to limit the damage to just three runs. It's been a frustrating start for the 25-year-old, who had been trending in the right direction his last two times out but now owns an unsightly combo of a 6.51 ERA and 1.45 WHIP. He'll look to right the ship next time out Friday against the Twins.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Tosses six scoreless innings

Cueto (2-0) didn't allow a run on two hits and two walks over six innings while striking out seven as he picked up win No. 2 on Sunday against the Angels.

Cueto has allowed just one run in four starts this season, sporting a remarkable 0.35 ERA and 0.65 WHIP across 26 innings. The 32-year-old appears to be 100 percent after a short stint on the disabled list due to an ankle sprain, and he'll look to continue his dominance Friday against the Dodgers in what figures to be his next start.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Nabs fourth win

Corbin (4-0) allowed two runs on two hits and one walk and struck out 11 as he picked up the win Sunday against the Padres.

Corbin has been magnificent through five starts this season, sporting a 1.89 ERA and 0.66 WHIP. He's also been a strikeout machine, racking up 48 punchouts across 33.1 innings. The 28-year-old left-hander will face another tough test in his next start, which figures to come Saturday against the Nationals.

  • Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA

Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Takes loss to Arizona

Lucchesi (2-1) was tabbed with the loss Sunday against the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four across five innings.

Despite a poor showing Sunday, Lucchesi is still 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in five starts. He'll look to go deeper into the ballgame during his next start, as he's been able to work past the fifth inning just twice this season. Lucchesi figures to take the hill for Saturday's matchup with the Mets.

  • Pirates' Trevor Williams: Tosses quality start in no-decision

Williams tossed six innings of two-run ball in a no-decision Sunday against the Phillies, allowing one hit with five walks and seven strikeouts.

Williams struggled to find the strike zone at times, tying his season high in walks, but that was offset by his career-high-tying seven punchouts. Curiously enough, the only real damage against him was initiated by opposing pitcher Nick Pivetta, who had an RBI double and later scored on a sacrifice fly to tie the game in the fifth inning. Overall, Williams turned in his third straight quality start and still owns an impressive 2.15 ERA through 29.1 innings. He's next scheduled to face the Cardinals on Saturday.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Not joining Cardinals rotation Tuesday

Flaherty won't start Tuesday's game against the Mets, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Due to Adam Wainwright landing on the disabled list, it had been expected that Flaherty would be recalled from Triple-A Memphis prior to Tuesday's outing versus the Mets. Instead, the Cardinals will send Luke Weaver to the hill and have the rest of their rotation pitch a day earlier. As a result, they'll next need a fifth starter Saturday when they face the Pirates, at which point Flaherty will be the leading candidate to join the rotation.

  • Julio Urias SP | LAD

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Still not throwing off mound

Urias (shoulder) has yet to resume throwing off a mound, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

The Dodgers are targeting a July return for Urias, although a more definitive timeframe should come together as his level of activity increases. Urias had been participating in a throwing program after undergoing shoulder surgery last June but had to put the program on hold to undergo tonsil surgery in early April.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: May start in Saturday's doubleheader

Buehler is being considered to start a game during Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Buehler is going to be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Monday's game against the Marlins. Although the Dodgers may opt to send him back to Triple-A after his upcoming start, he's under consideration to be used in Saturday's doubleheader. In addition to Buehler, the Dodgers are expected to use either Hyun-Jin Ryu or Rich Hill (finger) for their other game Saturday.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Tosses bullpen session Sunday

Hill (finger) threw a bullpen session Sunday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Hill has reportedly felt great after recent workouts and was able to pitch without any restrictions during Sunday's bullpen session. Due to his solid progress, Hill is being viewed as an option to start a game during the Dodgers' upcoming series against the Giants next weekend.
