  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Transferred to 60-day disabled list

Walker (elbow) was placed on the 60-day disabled list Friday.

This is simply a procedural move, as Walker is already going to be out until sometime during the 2019 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on April 25. His roster spot will be vacated to allow Kris Medlen to head to the majors to start Friday's game against the Astros.

  • Mike Soroka SP | ARI

Braves' Mike Soroka: Confirmed for second start

Soroka will start Sunday against the Giants, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Soroka's big-league debut Tuesday may have been originally intended to be a spot start, but he impressed enough to earn at least one more shot. The 20-year-old went six innings and allowed just one run on six hits and no walks, striking out five. He's one of the more promising pitching prospects in the game, so if he's really up in the big leagues for good he has the potential to be one of the more valuable waiver adds of the year in redraft leagues.

  • Austin Gomber SP | TEX

Cardinals' Austin Gomber: Sent back to Memphis

Gomber was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

Gomber was recalled from Triple-A at the end of April, but he wound up going unused in the big-league bullpen. He'll return to the minors to resume his normal starting duties, looking to build off the 2.45 ERA he produced in his first four starts for the Redbirds.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Officially recalled ahead of start

Buehler was recalled from High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday.

As expected, Buehler will head to the majors to start Friday's contest with the Padres in Mexico. The young starting pitcher will duel with Joey Lucchesi in the series opener. To make room for him on the active roster, Edward Paredes was optioned to Triple-A.

  • Tyler Cloyd SP | MIA

Marlins' Tyler Cloyd: Returns from paternity leave

The Marlins activated Cloyd (personal) from the paternity leave list Thursday, MLB.com reports.

Cloyd was away from the team the past four days, prompting the Marlins to keep Dillon Peters on the active roster as a long-relief option during that stretch. With Cloyd now back in the fold to fill that role out of the bullpen, Peters was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans, where he'll continue to be developed as a starter.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Sent to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Senzatela to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday, MLB.com reports.

Senzatela hadn't been used out of the bullpen for the past week and will have a chance to pick up some meaningful innings at Albuquerque, where he'll likely settle back into a starting role. It's expected that the Rockies will activate Chris Rusin (ribs) from the 10-day disabled list in a corresponding move to provide the bullpen with another long-relief option. Senzatela or Jeff Hoffman would likely rank as the top candidate to earn a spot start with Colorado if something should happen to one of the five members of the big-league rotation.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Strikes out eight

Wood allowed one earned run on four hits while walking two and striking out eight across five innings Thursday against the Diamondbacks. He did not factor into the decision.

Wood posted a season-best eight strikeouts but was unable to pitch deep into the game, needing 96 pitches to complete his five innings of work. He has steadily lowered his ERA to 3.83 over his past five starts, and it now falls more in line with his impressive 38:5 K:BB and 0.45 HR/9. The Dodgers' weakened lineup combined with Woods' struggles with efficiency have hurt his win potential, but he has otherwise been very good in 40 innings this season.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Allows one earned run

Corbin allowed one earned run on three hits while walking two and striking out five across six innings Thursday against the Dodgers. He did not factor into the decision.

Corbin left the game in line for the win after another solid six-inning outing, but the Diamondbacks' bullpen failed to maintain the lead. He didn't have his strikeout pitch working as has been the case in his previous starts, recording a season-low 10 swinging strikes. However, through seven starts has has posted 11.7 K/9 and a 50 percent groundball rate to back up his 2.15 ERA. He has been a breakout performer at the position in the early going and his strong peripheral stats indicate his results have been earned.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Takes no-hitter into seventh Thursday

Teheran (2-1) picked up the win after tossing seven scoreless innings against the Mets on Thursday, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out six.

Teheran exited his previous start with upper-back tightness, but his strong showing Thursday should ease any worries regarding the ailment. He was dealing in the one, carrying a no-hit bid into the seventh inning before Asdrubal Cabrera knocked a two-out double. The 27-year-old has now notched four quality starts in his past five outings, with his injury-shortened start against the Phillies marking the only time he didn't toss six innings in that stretch. He'll look to keep things rolling in his next start, which should come on the road against the Rays.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Confirmed for Friday's start

Buehler will be called up to start Friday's game against the Padres, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Already tabbed as Hyun-Jin Ryu's replacement in the rotation, Buehler is set to come up for a more extended period with the big league club starting Friday. Buehler made two starts for the Dodgers recently, notching 11 strikeouts over 10 innings while allowing just two earned runs when Rich Hill was on the shelf. Buehler's spot in the rotation appears to be safe for the duration of Ryu's stay on the DL, but he certainly has the potential to stick with the big league club beyond that point if he continues to pitch well.
