  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Brewers' Chase Anderson: Throws gem against Cubs

Anderson (5-5) threw seven scoreless innings and struck out six in a win over the Cubs on Tuesday, allowing one hit and two walks.

Anderson gathered his sixth quality start of the season and threw his second scoreless outing (the other coming on Opening Day against the Padres). Anderson's 4.13 ERA is still a bit high, but he's otherwise sporting a nice 1.17 WHIP while holding opponents to a .217 batting average. The right-hander will next take on the Phillies in a start at home.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Mets' Zack Wheeler: Pummelled by Braves

Wheeler (2-5) allowed six runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out two over 5.2 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Braves.

Wheeler allowed just two baserunners through the first three frames before allowing three singles and run in the fourth inning. The wheels fell off in the sixth when the righty allowed six of the first seven batters to reach base -- including a solo homer to Freddie Freeman -- before being lifted from the contest. Reliever Paul Sewald came in and immediately served up a grand slam to Ozzie Albies, tacking an additional three runs onto the starter's ledger. It was a disappointing result for Wheeler, who had recorded back-to-back quality starts in his first two outings in June. He lines up to take on the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Successful mound work Tuesday

Kershaw (back) threw off the mound Tuesday with no apparent issues, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Mound work was the next natural step in Kershaw's progression after throwing long toss over the weekend, although it remains unclear how long the mound session was. The veteran left-hander seems on track for a potential return in early July, with bullpen sessions and a simulated game likely next up in the rehab process.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SD

Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Cleared for rehab stint

Ray (oblique) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with High-A Visalia on Thursday, Jack Magruder of The Sports Xchange reports.

Ray came through Monday's bullpen session with no issues, clearing the way for him to embark on a rehab assignment. Seeing as he's been sidelined since the end of April with an oblique strain, the left-hander will likely need to make multiple rehab appearances before being cleared to rejoin the Diamondbacks. A return before the end of June isn't out of the question.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Heads to DL with rib microfracture

Buehler (ribs) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with a right rib microfracture.

Buehler was reportedly only dealing with a rib bruise, but an MRI revealed the microfracture Tuesday, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports, which is likely to have the right-hander on the shelf for a couple weeks. The 23-year-old was struck by a 108-mph line drive May 21, and ended up pitching through the injury three additional times. Buehler has been fantastic with a 2.63 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 54 strikeouts across 51.1 innings this season.

  • Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Throws off bullpen mound

Ryu (groin) threw off a bullpen mound Tuesday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

This is an encouraging step for the lefty, who has been on the shelf since May 3 with a left groin injury. Ryu, who was recently shifted to the 60-day DL, isn't eligible to return until July 2.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Cubs' Yu Darvish: Throws bullpen session

Darvish (triceps) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Darvish hit the disabled list in late May with triceps tendonitis, his second trip of the season. He has been making progress in his rehab, though it's still possible that he doesn't return until after the All-Star break.

  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Receives cortisone shot in wrist

Eickhoff (lat) received a cortisone shot in his right wrist Monday, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic Philadelphia reports.

Eickhoff appeared to be nearing his season debut in late May before his rehab was put on hold due to a twinge in the tips of his right index and middle fingers. Thoracic Outlet Syndrome was recently ruled out as a cause, but he now appears to be dealing with a wrist issue as well. He's confident that he'll pitch again this season, but the fact that that's even in question is certainly not an encouraging sign. There remains no timetable for his return.

  • Seth Lugo SP | KC

Mets' Seth Lugo: To start again Friday

Lugo is penciled in to start Friday in Arizona, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.

If Noah Syndergaard (finger) were ready to return over the weekend, one of Lugo or Jason Vargas, who starts Saturday, would likely be bumped from the rotation. Syndergaard is getting a second opinion on his finger, though, so both pitchers will remain starters for the time being. Lugo impressed with six shutout innings and eight strikeouts Sunday against the Yankees and owns an excellent 1.77 ERA through 45.2 innings (mostly in relief) so far this season.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Getting second opinion on finger

Syndergaard is getting a second opinion on his finger Tuesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic New York reports.

Syndergaard hit the disabled list in late May with a strained finger. He appeared to be nearing a return and was set to start last Sunday against the Yankees, but was scratched after experiencing swelling and discomfort Friday. His updated return date should become more clear following the second opinion.
