  • Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Moves to bullpen for now

Stripling will be moved to the bullpen for the time being, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

This comes as quite the surprise given Stripling's success this season. The 28-year-old is 8-3 with a 2.62 ERA and a 121:17 K:BB in 110 innings pitched this year. With Alex Wood (hamstring) and Hyun-Jin Ryu (groin) returning from the disabled list this week, there simply wasn't room for him in the rotation. Manager Dave Roberts said Stripling has earned the opportunity to start, but the bullpen needs more help right now, Moura reports. Most think that Stripling should be able to get back into the rotation before the season's end, but this does harm his value a bit in the short term.

  • Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Tabbed as Wednesday's starter

Ryu (groin) will start Wednesday's game against the Giants, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

As expected, Ryu will rejoin the rotation this week after making just two rehab starts. The Korean import found loads of success early on this season, producing a 2.12 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP in his first six starts. If all goes according to plan, he'll take on southpaw Derek Holland in the series finale with San Francisco.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Officially moved to bullpen

Maeda will move to the bullpen, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

Maeda has been a solid pitcher as a whole this season, producing a 3.80 ERA and a 10.7 K/9 in 109 frames. However, with Alex Wood (hamstring) and Hyun-Jin Ryu (groin) nearing a return to action, the Japanese import will move to the bullpen. Maedas success this season could make him an option for high-leverage work down the stretch, and closing out games isn't out of the question while star closer Kenley Jansen (irregular heartbeat) is sidelined.

  • Zach Davies SP | WAS

Brewers' Zach Davies: More rehab starts on tap

Davies (shoulder) will make at least one more minor-league rehab start, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Manager Craig Counsell indicated Davies could have several more rehab starts as the he rebuilds strength in the shoulder that has experienced multiple setbacks during rehab over the past two months. The 25-year-old's next rehab outing will be at Triple-A Colorado springs, probably later this week or next weekend.

  • Marlins' Merandy Gonzalez: Will start in doubleheader Monday

Gonzalez will be recalled from Double-A Jacksonville to start in Monday's doubleheader at Atlanta, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Gonzalez has allowed one run over seven innings during each of his last three starts for the Jumbo Shrimp as he is set to return to the majors. The 22-year-old has a 5.71 ERA and 1.79 WHIP in seven appearances out of the Marlins bullpen this season, mostly working in a long-relief role, although he last appearance came in mid-June.

  • Zach Davies SP | WAS

Brewers' Zach Davies: Lasts five innings during rehab start

Davies (shoulder) threw 86 pitches over five innings during Saturday's rehab start with Double-A Biloxi, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

It appears to be the final rehab assignment for Davies, who expects to rejoin the Brewers during their two-game set in Chicago this week. The 25-year-old could seemingly rejoin the starting rotation next weekend, and with two off days this week the Brewers' rotation could look a bit different for the near future.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Fans nine in win over Royals

Flaherty (6-6) picked up the win in Saturday's 8-3 victory over the Royals, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks over seven innings while striking out nine.

The rookie has been racking up the K's since the All-Star break, fanning at least seven batters in each of his last five starts and posting a 40:12 K:BB in 28.1 innings to go along with a 3.18 ERA and 1.02 WHIP. Flaherty will look to keep rolling in his next outing Thursday at home against the Nationals.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Delivers quality start against Brewers

Teheran didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Brewers, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over six innings while striking out six.

The right-hander wasn't quite as sharp as his line would suggest -- Teheran plunked two batters and threw only 52 of 90 pitches for strikes -- but he was still in line for his ninth win of the season before the Braves' bullpen coughed up the lead in the eighth inning. Teheran will carry a 4.33 ERA into his next start Thursday at home against the Rockies.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Brewers' Wade Miley: Delivers quality start against Braves

Miley didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Braves, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over six innings. He didn't strike out a batter.

The veteran southpaw now has a 2.23 ERA and four quality starts in eight outings with Milwaukee, although his 22:19 K:BB through 40.1 innings indicates just how thin Miley's margin for error has been. Thanks to a couple of upcoming off days for the Brewers, Miley will get some extra rest before he takes the mound again next Saturday in St. Louis.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SD

Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Fans six in no-decision

Ray gave up two runs in five innings against the Reds on Saturday but didn't factor into the decision. He gave up four hits, walked two and struck out six.

The southpaw has allowed two or fewer earned runs in three of his last four starts and has struck out at least six in eight of nine since returning from the disabled list. Ray's 4.83 ERA and 4.6 BB/9 say some work is still needed, but he's at least providing patient shareholders with the strikeouts that tantalized many to heavily invest in him this past preseason. For late-season chasers of that category, he could make an excellent trade target.
