  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Six strong innings in win

Freeland (12-7) got the win Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings against the Angels.

Freeland allowed at least one runner to reach base in all six innings, but he was able to strand them for the most part en route to working a fifth straight quality start. The 25-year-old has been having a terrific sophomore campaign, as he sports a 2.90 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 142:59 K:BB across 164.1 innings. Next on tap is Monday's home clash with the Giants.

  • Jacob Nix SP | SD

Padres' Jacob Nix: Goes 8.1 innings in win

Nix (2-2) got the win Tuesday, allowing just one run on eight hits over 8.1 innings against the Mariners. He did not record a strikeout or a walk.

It was a terrific yet strange outing for the rookie -- his first one without either a walk or a strikeout -- as he recorded just one swinging strike and needed only 79 pitches (59 strikes) to get through 8.1 innings. Nix entered the ninth inning in line for a complete-game shutout, but after yielding a one-out solo homer to Nelson Cruz, manager Andy Green turned to Kirby Yates to lock down the 2-1 win. The 22-year-old will take a 4.05 ERA and just 7:5 K:BB across 20 innings into Sunday's start against the Rockies.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Cubs' Cole Hamels: Strikes out eight in no-decision

Hamels struck out eight in five scoreless innings against the Mets on Tuesday, allowing four hits and three walks in a no-decision.

In a game that was suspended in the 10th inning due to rain and will resume Wednesday, Hamels pitched effectively although he needed 93 pitches (56 strikes) to get through five innings. In six starts so far for his new ball club, Hamels is 4-0 with a 0.69 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 38 strikeouts in 39 innings. The veteran lefty has reduced his season ERA by a full run since moving over from Texas (4.72 ERA on July 23). His next start will be against the Phillies in Philadelphia.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Strikes out 10 in no-decision

DeGrom struck out 10 and walked one in eight innings Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing one run on eight hits in a no-decision.

DeGrom was stellar but will come away with a no-decision once Tuesday's suspended game resumes. He has allowed just six earned runs over his past six starts (43.2 innings), bringing down his already-slim ERA from 1.82 to 1.68 in the process. The right-hander is holding opponents to a .208 batting average and ranks fourth in the majors with 248 strikeouts. If only the Mets' offense could score more runs for him (3.7 RS/9 this year) he'd likely have a win total to match the rest of his numbers. His next start will be a matchup with the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

  • Jose Urena SP | LAA

Marlins' Jose Urena: No decision in Boston

Urena gave up four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two in six innings Tuesday in Boston. He did not factor in the decision.

This was his first start since Aug. 19, as he opted to serve his six-game suspension this past week. It has been a tumultuous month for Urena -- primarily of his own doing -- as he had a brilliant start in Washington on Aug. 19, along with three lackluster outings and the infamous start on Aug. 15 when he was tossed without recording an out after throwing at the leadoff hitter, Ronald Acuna, in the first inning. He lines up for a two-start week next week, with a home start against the Phillies and a turn on the road in Pittsburgh.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Records win, quality start

Flaherty (8-6) allowed one run on four hits while recording five strikeouts and no walks in Tuesday's win over the Pirates.

Flaherty continued his hot streak Tuesday, allowing just one extra-base hit and throwing 64 of 88 pitches for strikes. Flaherty has now thrown five consecutive quality starts, giving up just four runs in 32 innings while notching 38 strikeouts in that span. The 22-year-old has lowered his season ERA to 2.87 and carries a 149:41 K:BB in 122.1 innings. His next start will be a matchup with the Reds at home.

  • Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Notches win against Brewers

DeSclafani (7-4) gave up four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out six in 6.2 innings Tuesday against the Brewers. He picked up the win.

He had a brilliant three-start run from Aug. 4 to Aug. 17, but has now given up eight runs on 18 hits and two walks over 12.2 innings in his last two starts, upping his ERA to 4.34. Fortunately, Junior Guerra got pummeled by the Reds' hitters, so DeSclafani at least notched his seventh win of the season. He will have another tough matchup Sunday in St. Louis.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Allows four runs in no-decision

Teheran allowed four runs on six hits and one walk across 5.2 innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Rays. He struck out five.

Teheran allowed just a pair of sacrifice flies through the first five innings, but a two-run home run from Brandon Lowe in the sixth inning tarnished what could have been a better line. That said, Teheran wasn't particularly sharp, throwing just 57 percent of his pitches for strikes and throwing first-pitch strikes to 12 of 25 batters. Teheran had delivered quality starts in each of his previous three outings, allowing four earned runs over 20 innings during that stretch. He'll look to bounce back this weekend against the Pirates.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Delivers another stellar outing

Nola allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks across seven innings during Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Nationals. He struck out eight and did not factor in the decision.

Nola exited with a 3-2 lead but the Phillies' bullpen allowed three runs during the ninth inning to cost him his 16th victory of the season. The 25-year-old now has a 2.10 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 177:47 K:BB heading into Monday's start at Miami.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Allows two runs in short outing

Buehler allowed two runs on four hits and two walks across four innings Tuesday in a no-decision Tuesday against the Rangers. He struck out four.

Buehler coasted aside from the third inning, when he allowed two runs on three hits and a walk before escaping the jam. Unfortunately, he labored a bit in that frame and departed after the fourth with 84 pitches already under his belt. This short outing ends a stretch of dominance in which Buehler had allowed just one earned run in 20 combined innings over his previous three starts. He'll look to get back on track this weekend against the Diamondbacks.
