  • Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Flashing upside in FSL

Garrett has posted a 4.67 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB through 17.1 innings for High-A Florida to begin the season.

The Marlins' first-round pick in 2016 has had a slow recovery from Tommy John surgery the following summer, but he's finally back on the mound and displaying his skills, Garrett has lasted five innings only once in four starts, but he's fanned at least six batters in each outing and he's keeping the ball in the park, serving up only one homer. Still only 21 years old, Miami will be patient with the right-hander given his lack of innings to date in his career, but if he keeps limiting homers and generating whiffs in the Florida State League, a promotion to Double-A could be coming in the second half.

  • David Peterson SP | CHC

Mets' David Peterson: Solid start at Double-A

Peterson has posted a 3.77 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB through 14.1 innings over three starts for Double-A Binghamton.

The 23-year-old southpaw has uncharacteristically fought his control a little, but he's once again been tough to take deep -- Peterson's served up only one homer, just the third he's given up in his pro career. An improved strikeout rate will be the key to his future success. If he continues fanning better than a batter an inning, he could have mid-rotation upside in the majors.

  • Seth Lugo SP | KC

Mets' Seth Lugo: Racks up fifth hold

Lugo struck out all three batters he faced in a scoreless eighth inning to record his fifth hold of the season in Sunday's win over the Brewers.

The right-hander has taken over from the struggling Jeurys Familia as New York's top setup man, and Lugo has posted a 1.80 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and dazzling 13:1 K:BB over his last 10 innings. He hit triple-digit strikeouts last year while shifting through a variety of roles, and manager Mickey Callaway's willingness to use him for multiple innings -- Lugo's recorded more than three outs in half of his 12 appearances -- should allow him to pile up the K's once again while easily topping the career-high 11 holds he managed in 2018.

  • Zac Gallen SP | ARI

Marlins' Zac Gallen: Looks ready for majors

Gallen won his third straight start for Triple-A New Orleans on Sunday, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk over eight innings while striking out seven,

Both runs scored on solo homers, but they were the first long balls Gallen has served up in 33.1 innings to begin the season -- an impressive feat considering the sky-high HR rate at Triple-A this year. The Marlins' No. 4 fantasy prospect has been brilliant for the Baby Cakes, posting a 0.81 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and 38:5 K:BB, and perhaps the only thing standing between Gallen and a promotion to Miami is the fact that he's not even on the 40-man roster yet.

  • Ian Anderson RP | ATL

Braves' Ian Anderson: Strong outing for Mississippi

Anderson gave up two hits and two walks over six scoreless innings while striking out eight for Double-A Mississippi on Sunday.

In his best performance so far this season, Anderson picked up his first win and shaved more than a full run off his ERA. Control has been an issue for the right-hander in the early going, but he's still showing plenty of dominance, posting a 26:15 K:BB through 23 innings with a 3.52 ERA and 1.39 WHIP. Atlanta's No. 4 fantasy prospect only turns 21 on Thursday, and the club has little reason to rush him up the ladder. Expect Anderson to continue honing his craft in the Southern League, potentially getting bumped up to Triple-A Gwinnett in the second half if he starts putting everything together on a consistent basis.

  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Heading to Jupiter

Martinez (shoulder) will head to the team's spring training facility in Jupiter, Florida early this week to face hitters in a pair of live batting practice sessions, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

The team's medical staff met with Martinez over the weekend to decide the next step in his rehab process, and the live BP sessions were determined to be the next benchmark in his recovery. How well Martinez's shoulder tolerates the sessions will determine how quickly he'll embark on an official minor-league rehab assignment.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Yields four unearned runs

Hill allowed five runs (one earned) on five hits with six strikeouts and no walks across six innings in a no-decision against the Pirates during his 2019 debut on Sunday.

The veteran left-hander, who missed the beginning of the year because of a knee strain, didn't receive the best defensive support during his season debut. After giving up a run in the first inning, the first batter against Hill during the second frame reached on an error, which led to four unearned runs. Luckily, the Dodgers offense rallied in the latter innings to get Hill off the hook. Despite allowing two home runs, he left his 2019 debut with a 1.50 ERA and 0.83 WHIP. His second start is expected to come on the road Saturday against the Padres.

  • Pirates' Trevor Williams: Allows season-high five runs

Williams gave up five earned runs on eight hits and one walk in six innings against the Dodgers on Sunday. He struck out six batters.

The Pirates actually staked Williams to a four-run, second-inning lead, but the righty failed to keep Los Angeles at bay. Williams threw 101 pitches (71 for strikes), eclipsing the 100-pitch mark for the second straight time. He threw more than 100 pitches only three times in 31 starts last year. With two off days in the coming week, Williams will likely next pitch over the weekend at home against Oakland.

  • Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA

Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Blows big lead

Lucchesi allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits with five strikeouts and one walk across four innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday.

The Padres spotted him a 6-0 lead, but by the end of the fifth, that lead was gone. Lucchesi gave up five of those six runs to allow the Nationals to tie the game, which erased all the good work he posted in his last start. Lucchesi has allowed at least five runs in three of his last four outings. He is 3-2 with a 4.94 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 31 innings. His next start will be at home against the Dodgers on Friday.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Cubs' Jose Quintana: Fans two in lackluster outing

Quintana yielded three runs on five hits across 5.2 innings Sunday, taking the no-decision in the Cubs' extra-innings win over Arizona. He struck out two batters and allowed two home runs.

Entering Sunday, Quintana had posted three straight starts of at least seven innings and two or fewer runs allowed, earning the win in all three. The lefty kept Arizona off the board until the fourth inning, when Eduardo Escobar took him deep for a solo shot, his first of two homers off Quintana on the night. He'll carry a 3.48 ERA into next Sunday's outing against the Cardinals.
