  • Tyler Mahle SP | ATL

Reds' Tyler Mahle: Yields one run in loss

Mahle (0-4) allowed one run on four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks across five innings in a loss to the Mets on Thursday.

Unfortunately, Mahle ran into an unstoppable Noah Syndergaard, who tossed a complete-game shutout. Owners should still be pleased with this performance, though, as it was Mahle's best since April 10. The only run he allowed Thursday was on a homer by Syndergaard. As encouraging as this is, the lack of run support is nothing new, and Mahle has been unable to earn a win this year in large part because of it. He is 0-4 with a 4.09 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 33 strikeouts in 33 innings. His next scheduled start is on the road against the Athletics on Tuesday.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Tosses shutout

Syndergaard (2-3) pitched a complete-game shutout with 10 strikeouts while allowing four hits and one walk in a victory against the Reds on Thursday.

The man nicknamed "Thor" did everything in this one, as in addition to the complete-game shutout, he accounted for the only run in the 1-0 victory, hitting a solo bomb. While this was an awesome day for Syndergaard, he still has more work to do to bring his numbers back to normal. Even after the shutout, he is 2-3 with a 5.02 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 49 strikeouts in 43 innings this season. Syndergaard will look to build upon this great performance in his next start on the road Tuesday against the Padres.

  • Jon Gray SP | TEX

Rockies' Jon Gray: Moves to 3-3

Gray (3-3) got the win against the Brewers on Thursday, despite giving up five runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings in an 11-6 victory for the Rockies. He struck out nine and walked two.

Gray had his final line ruined by a three-run third inning, but he did manage to strike out nine batters and pick up his third win of the season, as his lineup provided him with a hefty amount of run support. It was the second straight start in which the right-hander has given up five earned, giving him a 4.22 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP through 42.2 innings. He'll look to get on track in his next outing, which will come at home against the Giants on Wednesday.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Status in rotation uncertain

Manager Craig Counsell was noncommittal when asked whether Peralta will remain in the rotation, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. "We're going to have to have a conversation about that," the skipper said.

Peralta was tagged for nine runs (six earned) on eight hits (two homers) and three walks while striking out three across four innings Thursday against the Rockies -- raising his ERA and WHIP to 8.31 and 1.75, respectively -- and prompting the Brewers to contemplate his status in the starting rotation moving forward. The young right-hander has flashed his potential at times, evidenced by his 25 strikeouts in 21.2 innings, but until he can show more consistency, the Brewers may be forced to turn elsewhere. Should Peralta temporarily lose his rotation spot, Corbin Burnes, Adrian Houser and Aaron Wilkerson would all be options to take his spot.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Activated for start

The Brewers activated Peralta (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Thursday against the Rockies.

Peralta endured a rocky rehab outing at Double-A Biloxi over the weekend -- he gave up three runs on four hits and a walk in 4.2 innings -- but the Brewers were pleased enough with how his shoulder checked out to reinsert him into the rotation. He'll assume the rotation spot of Chase Anderson (finger), who experienced a blister and was scratched ahead of Wednesday's start before landing on the IL. Coming back from an injury of his own, Peralta may have his pitch count monitored carefully, though the Brewers may loosen the reins a bit given that they essentially had a bullpen game a day earlier.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Ties club record at High-A

Cabrera gave up two hits over 6.2 scoreless innings while striking out 13 for High-A Jupiter on Wednesday.

The right-hander tied Jupiter's franchise record for strikeouts in a game while also setting a new career high of his own. Cabrera has been dominating Florida State League hitters: He has a 21.2-inning scoreless streak going dating back to the first inning of his first start of the season, and his 31:6 K:BB is superb. A promotion to Double-A for the 21-year-old seems imminent.

  • Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Goes eight strong innings

Ryu gave up one run on four hits with no walks while striking out six through eight innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Wednesday.

Ryu tossed another gem, allowing only four baserunners in eight innings. The 32-year-old has seemingly stopped allowing free passes, posting a ridiculous 39:2 K:BB. He has a 3-1 record with a 2.55 ERA and a 0.5 BB/9 through six starts this season. Ryu will look to keep it going in his next start Tuesday against the Braves.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Falls short of third win

Senzatela didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 11-4 win over the Brewers, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over four innings while striking out two.

The right-hander got staked to a 3-0 lead before he stepped on the mound, but Senzatela wasn't efficient enough to reap the rewards of the Rockies' offensive outburst, throwing 86 pitches (46 strikes) before hitting the showers. He'll take a 4.03 ERA and 13:8 K:BB through 22.1 innings into his next start Tuesday, at home against the Giants.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Stifles Padres for fourth win

Fried (4-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-1 victory over the Padres, allowing one run on four hits over seven innings while striking out seven.

A Manny Machado solo homer in the fourth inning was the only blemish on the left-hander's line for the night. Fried has now delivered quality starts in five of his six turns through the rotation, and he'll take a sparkling 2.11 ERA and 33:7 K:BB through 38.1 innings into his next outing Monday, on the road against the Dodgers.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Whiffs six in no-decision

Nola allowed seven hits and three walks while striking out six across 5.2 innings Wednesday against Detroit. He did not factor into the decision.

Nola uncharacteristically walked three batters, causing his pitch count to rack up and resulting in a short outing. However, he was otherwise effective, whiffing six batters and allowing only one extra-base hit. After a rocky stretch early on, Nola has rebounded to allow five earned runs across his last 18 innings while generating 19 strikeouts. He'll look to continue his good form in his next start in a tough matchup Tuesday at St. Louis.
