Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Secures fourth win
DeGrom (4-1) allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out nine over six innings as he earned the win Friday against the Blue Jays.
DeGrom has allowed no more than one earned run in each of his last five starts, but he's only been rewarded with two wins during that time. He had no trouble securing the victory Friday, as the Mets scored 14 runs over the first four innings. The right-hander now carries a career-best 1.67 ERA and 0.87 WHIP through 54 innings this season. His next start should come on the road Thursday against the Phillies.

Trevor Rogers SP | BAL
Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Pummeled by Phillies
Rogers (1-1) took the loss in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Phillies, surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits over three-plus innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.
After tossing two scoreless frames to begin the game, Rogers got tagged for four runs in the third before the wheels came off completely in the fourth -- the first five batters all reached base before the young southpaw finally got the hook after a Rhys Hoskins homer. Rogers' ERA more than doubled as a result of the disastrous outing, and while a 26:8 K:BB through his first 18 big-league innings is impressive, he'll carry a 6.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 2.5 HR/9 into his next start Wednesday, at home against the Red Sox.

Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Shuts out Marlins in matinee
Nola (5-3) picked up the win in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Marlins, scattering three hits over seven shutout innings. He struck out 10 without walking a batter.
It goes down in the books as Nola's first career complete game, even if it were only seven innings and not the traditional nine. He tossed 70 of 106 pitches for strikes, and he retired the first seven batters he faced, six of them via strikeout, before Jazz Chisholm reached base on an HBP. Nola will take a 2.40 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 77:13 K:BB through 56.1 innings into his next outing Wednesday, at home against the Mets.

Brandon Woodruff SP | MIL
Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Dominates in shutout
Woodruff (2-3) threw seven shutout innings on Friday, allowing one hit while striking out 12 during the Brewers' 1-0 victory over the Cubs.
After struggling against the Cubs in their previous matchup, Woodruff bounced back in a pitchers' duel, throwing 71 of his 100 pitches for strikes in the victory. He'll carry a 3.40 ERA into his start against the Cardinals next week.

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Strong in no-decision
Marquez allowed two runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings Friday versus the Angels. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.
Marquez had allowed 15 runs over 11 innings in his last two home starts, but he was significantly better Friday. He exited the game with a lead, but Mychal Givens allowed a game-tying solo shot to Jared Walsh in the eighth, denying Marquez the win. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 4.35 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 57 strikeouts across 62 innings this season. Marquez hasn't notched a win in his last seven outings, a trend he'll try to change at home Wednesday versus the Athletics.

Adam Wainwright SP | STL
Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Decent in loss to Reds
Wainwright (4-1) allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings in Friday's loss to the Reds.
Wainwright was a little generous with baserunners Friday, and Joey Votto made him pay early with a two-run homer in the first inning. Eugenio Suarez also knocked an RBI double against Wainwright. The right-hander has produced five quality starts in seven outings this year. He has a 2.91 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 35 strikeouts across 46.1 innings. Wainwright's next turn is expected to be in one of Wednesday's two games versus the Brewers.
-
Luis Castillo SP | CHW
Reds' Luis Castillo: Goes distance Friday
Castillo (2-5) pitched a nine-inning complete game, allowing a run on two hits and three walks while striking out six in Friday's win over the Cardinals.
Castillo emptied the tank in this game, throwing 112 pitches (73 strikes) while allowing just one extra-base hit. The only run he allowed happened in the second inning when Matt Carpenter's groundout allowed Brad Miller to score. Castillo's put together good outings in each of his last two starts. He now has a 3.44 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 66:20 K:BB across 52.1 innings this season. The right-hander is expected to face the Pirates on Wednesday in his next start.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: Friday's start postponed
Cueto's scheduled start Friday was postponed after a member of the Giants tested positive for COVID-19, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Friday's contest was postponed just before first pitch as a result of the positive COVID-19 test. The Giants haven't announced who tested positive, and the team hasn't yet performed contact tracing. It's unclear when the Giants will return to play.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Braves' Cole Hamels: Continues making progress
Hamels (triceps) threw three simulated innings Friday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
The veteran lefty continues to work his way back from the shoulder and triceps issues that he's dealt with since spring training. He's expected to be activated to make a start at some point next week against the Orioles or Mets, though given that he's only been built up to three innings, he's unlikely to pitch deep enough to earn a win in his first game back.

Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Expected back soon
Matz (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Friday and is expected to return from the injured list soon, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Matz has already served the required 10 days on the injured list due to shoulder discomfort. If Friday's bullpen session is the last one he needs, he could make a start sometime early next week.
