Gray will open the season at Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Brook Smith of DodgersNation.com reports that manager Dave Roberts eschewed the idea of Gray getting the call to replace Dustin May (Tommy John surgery). A team with the Dodgers' talent and expectations isn't going to alter the developmental plan for one of its top prospects based on a need at the big-league level. Tony Gonsolin (shoulder) and David Price (hamstring) are just as likely to get healthy in time to take the fifth starter's spot as Gray is to impress enough in the short term at Triple-A.

Wainwright (1-3) picked up the win in Monday's 6-5 victory over the Mets, coughing up five runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

All the scoring in the game came in the first three innings and Wainwright appeared to be on the ropes after Kevin Pillar took him deep in the third, but the veteran right-hander righted the ship after the Cards gave him a lead in the bottom half of the frame. Wainwright tossed 66 of 93 pitches for strikes, and he'll take a 4.72 ERA and 37:9 K:BB through 34.1 innings into his next outing.

Lucchesi (0-2) took the loss Monday, surrendering six runs on seven hits and a walk over 2.2 innings as the Mets fell 6-5 to the Cardinals. He struck out two.

Five of the seven hits off the southpaw went for extra bases, including long balls by Harrison Bader and Nolan Arenado. Lucchesi did nothing to demonstrate he deserves a longer look in the rotation, and on the season he carries an ugly 10.13 ERA and 13:3 K:BB through 10.2 innings.

Anderson (2-3) gave up two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out five over 6.2 innings Monday against the Padres. He took the loss.

Anderson took a no-hitter into the seventh inning but was unable to navigate the middle of San Diego's lineup a third time. He's now allowed two earned runs or fewer in four straight starts and is the owner of a 3.24 ERA.

Houser (2-3) took the loss after surrendering four runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out two over six innings Monday night against the Phillies.

Houser gave up a two-run blast in the bottom of the first inning and two unearned runs in the second following a throwing error by shortstop Luis Urias, but he managed to settle down from there. He retired 14 of the last 15 batters before being removed from the contest. Houser owns a 3.52 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with a 21:11 K:BB across 30.2 frames in 2021.

Velasquez (1-0) earned the win after allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings Monday against Milwaukee.

Velasquez surrendered a solo home run to the second batter of the contest, but he managed to settle down and turn in a quality outing. It's unclear if the right-hander will receive another turn through the rotation, but he did nearly all he could to earn another look, even with Matt Moore back from the COVID-19 injured list. Velasquez owns a 4.91 ERA and 1.64 WHIP with 24 punchouts over 18.1 innings.

Oviedo is expected to be called up to start Tuesday against the Mets, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

Oviedo hasn't been in the minors for the required 10 days, so someone will have to be placed on the injured list if he's to return Tuesday. He's made one start and one relief appearance this season, posting an 11:4 K:BB over 9.2 innings while allowing three earned runs.

Sanchez was recalled by the Phillies on Monday.

Sanchez was called up for the first time in mid-April but did not yet the chance to make his MLB debut. He'll give the team an extra lefty in the bullpen during his time on the roster. Scott Kingery was optioned in a corresponding move.

Buehler will start Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Buehler was expected to start Monday's series opener before the contest was postponed due to inclement weather. He's coming off a tough outing Tuesday against the Reds, surrendering five runs and striking out 10 over 6.1 frames.
