Woodford (1-1) took the loss in a defeat at the hands of the Pirates on Friday, allowing an earned run on a hit and a walk while failing to record an out in the fifth inning.

Woodford entered with one out in the fifth and the score knotted at 4-4, and he ultimately allowed an RBI single to Jacob Stallings that made him the pitcher of record. The right-hander has been particularly hittable of late, giving up an earned run in five of his last six appearances. He has seen his ERA balloon from 3.18 to 4.24 during that span.

Soroka suffered a complete re-tear of his Achilles tendon Thursday and will require season-ending surgery.

Soroka felt a pop in his right Achilles while walking to the clubhouse Thursday, and an MRI revealed that he will miss the rest of the current campaign. The right-hander underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon in late May, but he had resumed throwing exercises before aggravating the injury. A timetable for Soroka's return will be established after he undergoes surgery next week, but he could be sidelined until July of 2022, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Gonsolin allowed one run on one hit and two walks while striking out seven over four innings Friday against the Cubs. He did not factor into the decision and walked in his only plate appearance of the evening.

Gonsolin had his best outing of the season in his fourth start since returning from the injured list. The only hit he allowed was a first-inning solo home run off the bat of Kris Bryant. He would then work around two walks to pitch three more scoreless innings. The 27-year-old tossed 69 pitches over a season-high four frames and also struck out a season-high seven batters, six of which came from his splitter. Gonsolin now owns a 2.77 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 18:10 K:BB over 13 innings and lines up to face the Nationals next week.

Gutierrez (3-2) took the loss Friday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over six-plus innings as the Reds fell 3-2 to Atlanta. He struck out four.

Solo homers by Dansby Swanson and Guillermo Heredia in the sixth and seventh innings were the difference in the game. Gutierrez has three quality starts in six trips to the mound since being added to the big-league rotation and hasn't yet failed to last at least five innings, and he'll carry a 3.97 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 27:16 K:BB through 34 innings into his next outing.

Smyly (5-3) picked up the win in Friday's 3-2 victory over the Reds, allowing one run one six hits over six innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

The veteran lefty held Cincinnati off the board until the sixth inning and exited after tossing 54 of his 84 pitches for strikes. It was Smyly's first quality start since May 20 and his fifth of the year, and he'll take a 4.79 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 57:23 K:BB through 67.2 innings into his next outing.

Paddack allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two batters in 2.1 innings Friday against the Diamondbacks. He did not end up factoring into the decision.

Paddack was a complete no-show Friday after his last two starts combined yielded just four runs while he struck out 20 batters. He had a clean opening inning but allowed three runs in the second after allowing a bases-loaded single and then a double before finally getting out of trouble. He couldn't escape the third after allowing four consecutive hits, which amounted to two more runs for the Diamondbacks. It was undoubtedly a very rough outing for the 25-year-old righty, as his ERA shot up to a 4.68. He'll look to turn things around in his next start, which is currently scheduled to be against the Reds next week.

Cueto (6-3) hurled seven scoreless innings against Oakland on Friday, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out six to take the win.

The right-hander held the Athletics to one extra-base hit (a double) and zero runs. He did so primarily by pitching to contact, as Oakland logged a modest 10 swinging strikes against him. Cueto's quality start was his second in as many games and fourth overall this season. He has yet to strike out more than seven batters in an outing but has managed a respectable 3.63 ERA and 6-3 record. Cueto's next start is tentatively scheduled to come at Arizona on Thursday.

Peterson allowed a run on three hits and two walks over six innings in a loss to the Phillies in the second game of Friday's doubleheader. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.

Peterson cruised through five innings of scoreless baseball before serving up a solo shot to Bryce Harper in the sixth. It was his third straight outing giving up fewer than two runs, lowering his season ERA to 4.95 through 63.2 innings. He'll carry a 67:28 K:BB into next week's projected start in Atlanta.

Kim allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out one across 4.1 innings versus Pittsburgh on Friday. He did not factor in the decision.

The southpaw failed to make it through five innings for the third time in his past four outings and tied a season-worst mark by allowing four runs. He struck out only one batter and induced just three swinging strikes among his 70 pitches. Kim hasn't notched a win since his second appearance of the season April 23, going 0-5 in 10 appearances since then. His performances haven't been terrible -- Kim still owns a decent 3.98 ERA on the season -- but his inability to go deep into games has certainly hurt his overall numbers. He's slated to make his next start at home against Arizona next week.

Burnes allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings in Friday's win over the Rockies. He didn't factor into the decision.

Burnes began Friday's contest by tossing five scoreless innings, but he gave up three singles in the sixth inning and allowed a run to come across. The Brewers didn't get on the board until the bottom of the seventh inning, so the right-hander was forced to settle for his fourth no-decision in his last five starts. He had given up eight runs (seven earned) in 9.1 innings across his last two appearances, but he was able to bounce back Friday. Burnes tentatively lines up to make his next start at home against the Cubs on Wednesday.
