Garrett allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out two in 4.1 innings in Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Phillies. He didn't factor into the decision.

Garrett was called up from Triple-A Jacksonville ahead of Sunday's game. The Phillies scored four runs in the fifth and sixth innings, which forced the southpaw to settle for the no-decision. The 23-year-old has now posted a 5.17 ERA and 1.91 WHIP in 15.2 innings across four major-league appearances (three starts) this year. If Garrett remains in the rotation, he tentatively lines up to make his next start at home against the Padres on Friday.

Gray (2-5) couldn't escape the fifth inning against the Brewers on Sunday in the course of getting the loss, allowing five runs on six hits and four walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Gray very nearly got out of trouble in the fifth, but he then allowed a two-out, bases loaded single to Tyrone Taylor, and then a two-run triple to Jackie Bradley Jr., sucking all the air out of the balloon for the Reds. The Reds will hope Gray can help them recapture their momentum they had prior to the All-Star break with his next start against the Cardinals.

Musgrove allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three in five innings in Sunday's loss to the Nationals. He didn't factor into the decision.

Musgrove held the Nationals scoreless in four of his five innings, but he allowed four runs in the third inning and was forced to settle for a no-decision as a result. The right-hander had posted a 2.08 ERA across the first two months of the season, but he's now given up at least four runs in three of his last four starts. Musgrove tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Miami on Friday.

Williams is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Cardinals in St. Louis, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Jake Arrieta (hamstring) isn't available to begin the second half, so Williams will step into the Chicago rotation as the fifth starter after he previously worked as a bulk reliever July 6 in his first outing back from the injured list. Before missing time while recovering from appendicitis, Williams started in each of his first 10 appearances of the season and went 3-2 with a 5.36 ERA and 1.60 WHIP.

Rogers is listed as the Marlins' probable pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Nationals in Washington.

Rogers has been the Marlins' top pitcher this season, but because he tossed 18 pitches in Tuesday's All-Star Game and since the organization has a desire to monitor his innings count, he won't take the hill until Miami's sixth game of the second half. With the 23-year-old having already racked up 101.1 innings in 2021 -- up from 28 innings during the pandemic-delayed 2020 campaign -- Rogers could be a candidate to get shut down in September or have starts skipped periodically over the final two months of the season.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Gray is "in the mix" to receive a call-up from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Tuesday's game against the Giants, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Roberts indicated that the Dodgers' plans for Tuesday's contest will likely hinge on what sort of innings totals the team receives from starters David Price and Tony Gonsolin on Sunday and Monday, respectively. If the Dodgers' relief arms aren't too taxed following Monday's series opener with San Francisco, the team could opt for a bullpen day Tuesday. In addition to potentially tabbing Gray for the spot start, Roberts said one of the team's other top prospects, Ryan Pepiot, is also being considered for a promotion from Double-A Tulsa. Gray, 23, has made four starts at Triple-A this season, compiling a 2.87 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and 22:2 K:BB in 15.2 innings.

Gray put together his fourth consecutive quality start, limiting the Dodgers to a two-run homer by Justin Turner in the third inning. The performance lowered Gray's ERA to 3.68, which would challenge the career-best 3.67 mark he posted in 2017. The 29-year-old is 6-6 on the year with a 1.22 WHIP and 87:37 K:BB in 93 innings, and his home ERA (3.22 in nine starts) at Coors Field is actually considerably better than his road number (4.54 in seven starts).

Gausman (personal) will be activated from the Family Medical Emergency List to start Monday's game against the Dodgers, Amy Gutierrez of the Giants' official site reports.

Gausman was initially slated to start Friday's game against St. Louis, but he was placed on the Family Medical Emergency List and missed the team's weekend series. The right-hander appears to have since handled the personal matter, so he'll be able to make his first start of the second half as the Giants begin a key four-game series in Los Angeles. Gausman will line up for a second start of the week Saturday versus the Pirates in San Francisco.

Toussaint is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Padres, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Toussaint will get a trial as Atlanta's new No. 5 starter after Ian Anderson (shoulder) was shut down following his final outing before the All-Star break. Over various stints in the big leagues over the past three seasons, Toussaint has made bats miss (24.3 percent strikeout rate), but a 5.97 ERA in 95 career innings has muted most of his fantasy impact. Toussaint has been on the 60-day injured list for most of the season while recovering from a shoulder strain suffered in spring training, but he's fully built up for starting duty after recently wrapping up an extended rehab assignment. Over his final two outings at Triple-A earlier this month, Toussaint tossed six innings in both starts and struck out 18 between those games.

Atlanta is expected to recall Muller from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Monday's game against the Padres, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

The big club optioned Muller to Gwinnett on July 4, but his demotion was mostly a means of roster management, since his turn in the rotation wasn't scheduled to come up again until after the All-Star break. The young southpaw is now in line to get the ball for Atlanta's fourth game of the second half, after he impressed in his first four starts with the big club (3.45 ERA, 1.09 WHIP over 15.2 innings).
