Williams (4-2) tossed 6.1 scoreless innings to record the win Sunday against the Diamondbacks. He allowed five hits and no walks while striking out six.
Making his second straight start coming out of the All-Star break, Williams posted his best line of the season, lowering his ERA to 5.06 in the process. With Jake Arrieta (hamstring) on the injured list, Williams should stick in the rotation for now, especially based on his sharp performance Sunday. He currently lines up to face the Nationals on Friday in his next scheduled start.
