Lauer will start Sunday against Cleveland, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

He will take the ball in place of Brandon Woodruff, who is dealing with a stomach bug. Lauer has given up one earned run while striking out nine over his last 14 innings (two starts).

Velasquez (finger) was designated for assignment Saturday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Velasquez has never quite lived up to expectations with the Phillies. He was working his way back from a finger injury, but will now go through the waiver process.

Musgrove (10-9) suffered the loss against the Dodgers on Friday, pitching six innings and allowing three runs on four hits and five walks while striking out seven.

The performance was not among Musgrove's best as a Padre -- he issued a season-high five walks and gave up three runs for the first time since Aug. 14 -- but he still managed to secure his third quality start in his past four outings. However, San Diego's offense remained stale against the division-rival Dodgers, resulting in the right-hander's ninth loss. Musgrove's so-so 10-9 record doesn't do justice to his effectiveness on the campaign, as he has posted a 2.93 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 180:45 K:BB across 159.2 innings. His next start is likely to come in San Francisco next week.

Urias (17-3) earned the win over San Diego on Friday, hurling seven scoreless innings during which he allowed three hits and one walk while striking out seven.

The southpaw was masterful in the outing, throwing 64 of 94 pitches for strikes and retiring nine of the final 10 batters he faced. Urias finished with his fourth scoreless outing in his past seven starts, though he went only five innings in each of the previous three efforts. Since July 21, he has posted a 1.23 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 53:9 K:BB across nine starts covering 51.1 frames. Urias will try to add to his league-leading 17 wins in his next start, which is tentatively lined up to come at home versus Arizona on Wednesday.

Wood (COVID-19) will throw a bullpen session Monday and is getting close to returning, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

He will be evaluated after Monday's session, but it's good to hear he's feeling much better after dealing with a significant case of the virus. It's possible he could return to the rotation in a week or two.

Kelly (illness) threw four innings and 66 pitches in a rehab start with the Diamondbacks' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate Thursday, MLB.com reports.

Kelly has now had three separate outings since coming out of isolation due to COVID-19 protocols. Before Thursday's rehab start, Kelly completed a 23-pitch bullpen session and a 51-pitch start in an intrasquad game. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo hasn't ruled out Kelly's next start coming in the majors; the right-hander would presumably slot into the Diamondbacks' rotation as soon as Tuesday in Los Angeles versus the Dodgers.

Mahle allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings against St. Louis on Friday. He did not factor in the decision.

Mahle's performance was a tangible improvement over his last start, when he gave up four runs in five innings against Detroit. However, the right-hander picked up a win in that contest while walking away with a no-decision Friday. The two runs against him came as the result of a Yadier Molina long ball in the fourth inning, which was the only extra-base hit Mahle yielded in the outing. He has been a solid performer throughout the campaign, posting a 3.73 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 188:56 K:BB and 11-5 record through 159.1 innings. Mahle's next start is likely to be a favorable matchup at Pittsburgh next week.

Falter (2-1) took the loss Friday versus Colorado, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks while recording just one out via strikeout.

After a perfect inning from opening pitcher Sam Coonrod, Falter was unable to keep things in order on the mound. He threw just 16 of 30 pitches for strikes in a brutal appearance. Falter has a 5.86 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 33:4 K:BB across 27.2 innings in 17 games this year. He's added three holds, but with poor ratios, he's best suited to low-leverage work for now.

Marquez (12-10) allowed just six hits and a walk while striking out six over six shutout innings to earn the win Friday over Philadelphia.

After posting a 6.23 ERA in 30.1 innings across his last six starts, Marquez's performance Friday echoed the success he had found in late June and early July. Only one of the six hits he allowed went for extra bases. Marquez has posted a 3.93 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 167:56 K:BB across 167 innings this season. The right-hander will look to build some positive momentum in a tough road start versus Atlanta next week.
