Garrett (1-0) picked up the win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over 5.2 innings in a 3-2 victory over the Guardians. He struck out three.

For the second straight outing, the southpaw came one out short of a quality start, this time getting the hook after 82 pitches (60 strikes) when he gave up a two-out walk and a double with the Marlins clinging to a 3-1 lead. The bullpen kept the inherited runners from scoring, however, and Garrett notched his first win of 2023. The 25-year-old will take a 2.84 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB through 19 innings into his next outing, which could come next week in Atlanta.

Mikolas pitched 5.1 innings against Seattle on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four batters. He did not factor in the decision.

Mikolas gave up a solo homer to Jarred Kelenic in the second inning but settled in from there, at one point retiring 11 of a string of 12 batters. However, he lost a 3-1 lead when Teoscar Hernandez tagged him for a two-run homer in the sixth, which marked the end of Mikolas' outing. The right-hander has yet to get into the win column this season, but he's shown some improvement over his past two starts, giving up five earned runs over 11 frames. Prior to that, Mikolas had surrendered 16 earned runs over his first 14.1 innings of the campaign.

Kelly (1-3) took the loss against San Diego on Saturday, pitching five innings and allowing four runs on three hits and five walks while striking out seven batters over five innings.

The headlines may highlight Fernando Tatis hitting his first homer of the year off Kelly in the first inning, but the hurler's lack of control was just as critical to his subpar performance. Kelly threw only 54 of 94 pitches for strikes and issued a season-high five free passes after walking four batters in each of his first three starts. The right-hander's previous trip to the mound was promising in that he earned his first win of the campaign and didn't walk any batters, but Kelly was right back to his wild ways Saturday. He's still posted a respectable 3.42 ERA on the season, but Kelly is tied for the league lead with 17 walks across 26.1 frames.

Musgrove (1-0) picked up the win in his season debut in Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Diamondbacks, allowing three runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out six batters over five innings.

Musgrove missed over three weeks to begin the campaign due to a fractured toe and a subsequent shoulder injury he suffered while rehabbing. The right-hander made it back to the big club Saturday and pitched well enough to pick up the win, tossing 80 pitches (53 strikes) and giving up three runs across five frames. Musgrove induced 12 swinging strikes in the outing, a positive sign that his stuff isn't too far behind despite his late start to the season. He's tentatively lined up to the face the Giants at home his next time out.

Hill (2-2) earned the win Saturday, allowing one run on six hits and three walks over five innings against the Reds. He struck out seven.

Hill has now allowed just two runs over his last 11 innings pitched. The southpaw is currently the oldest player in the league at 43 years old, but has still been a reliable presence this season. He has allowed three or fewer runs in all but one of his five starts this season, but he gave up seven runs in that exception. That has his ERA at a pedestrian 4.85 through 26 innings.

Miley (3-1) earned the win Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk over five innings against Boston. He struck out three.

Miley gave up a two-run home run to Yu Chang in the fifth inning, but was otherwise sharp Saturday. That is three wins in four starts for the 36-year-old southpaw. Miley's numbers are excellent this season with a 1.96 ERA and a 17:4 K:BB over 23 innings. Miley is currently lined up to face the Angels next week.

Wright (0-1) took the loss Saturday, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk over five-plus innings against the Astros. He struck out two.

Wright was rolling through five innings. He had allowed just three hits and no runs to the Astros, but he didn't record an out in the sixth as five straight batters reached, including a couple of two-run home runs from Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker. After three starts, Wright has a 5.93 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 13.2 innings and is still looking for his first win of the season.

Sanchez didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-3 win over Colorado, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out five.

Making his first big-league appearance of the season after recovering from a triceps strain, the 26-year-old southpaw was able to last 73 pitches (46 strikes) and exited the game with the score tied 3-3. Sanchez was likely only making a spot start, but it's not clear whether he'll head back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after this outing or whether he'll remain in the Phillies' bullpen as a long relief option.

Freeland (2-2) took the loss Saturday as the Rockies were downed 4-3 by the Phillies, giving up four runs on five hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Despite being away from Coors Field, the southpaw still got hit hard, with Nick Castellanos leading the way for the Phillies by slugging solo homers in the second and sixth innings. Freeland sports a 4.28 ERA and 18:7 K:BB through 27.1 innings, losing his last two outings after kicking off the season with three straight quality starts. The 29-year-old will look to get back on track when he next takes the mound, which is likely to be at home next weekend against the Diamondbacks.

Peterson (1-3) took the loss Saturday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and one walk over five innings during a 7-4 loss to San Francisco. He struck out eight.

Peterson allowed four runs in the first inning and two more in the second, but he was still able to get through five frames and struck out a season-high eight. The left-hander has given up at least five runs in three of his first five starts and currently sports a 7.36 ERA with a 30:9 K:BB through 25.2 innings.
