Davies (1-4) took the loss Friday, allowing six runs on six hits and four walks over four innings against San Francisco. He struck out two.

Davies continues to struggle mightily this year, as he now has a 7.82 ERA and 1.82 WHIP in 35.2 innings pitched on the season. With the Diamondbacks unexpectedly in first place, it remains to be seen whether or not the right-hander will continue to hold his spot in the rotation, as the squad may view him as a liability down the stretch. As of now, he's tentatively slated to face the Rays on Thursday for his next appearance.

Sheehan (1-0) earned the win Friday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over six innings against the Astros. He struck out four.

Sheehan followed up his excellent debut (six no-hit innings against the Giants on June 16) with another solid performance. The rookie out of Boston College is showing why he rose up the Dodgers' farm system quickly, as he's now allowed just two runs over 12 innings pitched. It remains to be seen whether or not the right-hander will continue to be a regular in the rotation, but fantasy managers should certainly keep an eye on him going forward.

Musgrove (6-2) earned the win Friday, allowing one run on six hits over seven innings against the Nationals. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter.

Musgrove had one of his best appearances of the season against the floundering Nationals. The right-hander has not allowed more than three runs in a start since May 20 against Boston, and he has allowed only one homer this entire month. The former Pirate is also on pace to clear his career high of 11 wins in a season.

Corbin (4-9) took the loss Friday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings against San Diego. He struck out three.

Corbin had his worst start of the season, and he has now allowed 11 runs across his last 11 innings pitched. The former Diamondback is in the midst of another rough season, as he currently has a 5.32 ERA after posting a 6.31 mark last year. The veteran southpaw's next chance to redeem himself is tentatively slated to be against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Freeland allowed four runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Friday.

Freeland left the mound in line for the loss after giving up back-to-back solo home runs to Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout in the fifth inning, but the Rockies pulled ahead on an Elias Diaz grand slam in the eighth. The southpaw battled an illness earlier in the week, which could have affected his performance. He's gone seven starts without a win, though surprisingly his worst outings in that span have come in challenging road matchups and not at Coors Field, where he has a 3.42 ERA on the year. Overall this season, Freeland has a 4.54 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 53:24 K:BB over 85.1 innings across 16 starts. He's lined up for a tough home start versus the Dodgers next week.

Luzardo did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing two hits and one walk over seven scoreless innings against the Pirates. He struck out nine.

The southpaw was stellar Friday, dominating to the tune of 19 swinging strikes on 96 pitches. Unfortunately for Luzardo and his fantasy managers, closer A.J. Puk couldn't hold onto the lead in the ninth and squandered his win. Luzardo is still searching for a next level in terms of consistency, but when he's on, he's among the game's most impressive young starters. He will take a 3.77 ERA, 1.19 ERA and 103:23 K:BB into his next outing.

Ortiz (2-3) earned the win Friday, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks over eight innings against the Marlins. He struck out five.

The right-hander turned in the best start of his young career. It looked like he might end up on the wrong end of a pitchers' duel with Jesus Luzardo, but Ortiz was rewarded for his efforts when the Pirates rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning to win 3-1. The 24-year-old induced 12 swinging strikes on 97 pitches and showed the kind of upside to warrant a roster spot in most fantasy leagues, though more ups and downs should be expected.

Smith-Shawver did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks over 3.1 innings against the Reds. He struck out four.

Atlanta staked Smith-Shawver to an early 5-0 lead, but the right-hander gave it all back before exiting with one out in the fourth. He served up three home runs, more than he allowed in his first three appearances combined (two). It was an outing to forget in one of the game's most hitter-friendly parks, but Smith-Shawver still has a 4.32 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 16.2 total innings -- impressive for a 20-year-old in his first exposure to big-league hitters. He tentatively lines up to face the Twins at home next week.

Miley said the cramping issue that caused him to leave Friday's start versus the Guardians isn't serious, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. He picked up the win and threw six scoreless innings with three strikeouts before leaving.

Miley told reporters that he started feeling the cramping after his last pitch in the sixth, and he and the team decided it wasn't a good idea for him to continue despite needing only 67 pitches to get through the lineup twice. The left-hander should be able to make his next scheduled start, which is currently lined up for Thursday against the Mets.

Marceaux and Coleman Crow were acquired by the Mets from the Angels on Friday in the trade for Eduardo Escobar.

Marceaux was selected by the Angels out of LSU, and the right-hander has registered a 4.88 ERA and 45:19 K:BB over 59 innings with Double-A Rocket City over 12 starts. He isn't likely to help the Mets in 2023, but he could be a back-end rotation option for the club in the middle portion of the decade.
