Grove has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Monday's game against the Pirates, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Grove will get the nod in the series opener after the Dodgers confirmed that Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) would require a stint on the 15-day injured list. The right-hander recently toed the rubber June 28 in Colorado, surrendering four runs on eight hits and two walks while fanning three over five innings.

Kershaw was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with left shoulder inflammation, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Kershaw was spotted playing catch in the outfield prior to Monday's contest, and the team announced shortly after that the southpaw will indeed require a trip to the injured list. With this news confirmed, Michael Grove has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City and will toe the rubber Monday night against the Pirates.

Smyly did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over 3.2 innings against Milwaukee. He struck out five.

Smyly got through the first two innings unscathed, but the Brewers tagged him for three runs in the third before forcing the left-hander out of the game in the fourth. Smyly has struggled to a 6.49 ERA over his last seven outings after pitching to a 2.60 mark in his first 10 starts. Overall, the 34-year-old southpaw is 7-5 with a 4.10 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 76:30 K:BB across 90 innings this season. Smyly will look to get back on track in his next outing, tentatively scheduled for next week against the Yankees.

Fried (forearm) will throw live batting practice Tuesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Fried faced hitters last Friday for the first time since suffering a left forearm strain and is ready to do so a second time Tuesday. If things go well, he could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. Fried has been sidelined since early May but should rejoin Atlanta's rotation before the end of July if he continues to progress.

Teheran did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing six runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings against the Cubs. He struck out seven.

Teheran allowed three runs in both the second and third innings, but he'd bear down and blank the Cubs over his final three frames as the Brewers rallied to overcome the 6-0 deficit. Teheran has surrendered 13 runs over his last two outings (11.2 innings) after pitching to a 1.53 ERA in his first six starts (35.1 innings). Overall, the 32-year-old Teheran has a 3.64 ERA with a 1.02 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB across eight starts (47 innings) this season. He's lined up for a home matchup with the Reds in his next outing.

Sanchez (shoulder) has resumed throwing at 90-105 feet, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Sanchez had to be shut down for a while due to yet another setback with his right shoulder. He'll have to be built back up slowly and surely isn't being counted upon by the Marlins to contribute at the major-league level this season.

Meyer (elbow) will begin a bullpen progression this week, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Making his way back from last August's Tommy John surgery, Meyer has thrown on flat ground without incident and is ready to progress to the bump. It's possible he'll be ready for games by the Arizona Fall League, with the hope that he'll be full-go for the 2024 campaign.

The Mets designated Flexen for assignment Monday after acquiring him from the Mariners.

Along with Flexen, the Mets acquired right-hander Trevor Gott from Seattle in exchange for lefty Zach Muckenhirn, but Gott is the main asset in the deal from the Mets' standpoint. The Mets will absorb the approximately $4 million remaining on Flexen's contract, and though he won't be added to the 40-man roster, the organization is presumably hoping that he'll pass through waivers and help bolster the rotation at Triple-A Syracuse. Flexen owns an ugly 7.71 ERA and 1.86 WHIP in 42 frames with Seattle in 2023, but between the prior two seasons, the 29-year-old right-hander amassed a 3.66 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 317.1 innings and 53 starts. Perhaps a change of scenery will help the soft-tossing Flexen stumble upon a better pitch mix or a mechanical tweak that could allow him to resurface as useful rotation depth for the big club in the latter portion of the season.

Matz will start for the Cardinals on Wednesday in Miami, Isaac Azout of SBNation.com reports.

The Cards needed a spot starter following a doubleheader over the weekend. Matz has posted a 1.98 ERA since being demoted to the bullpen a month ago, which includes 6.2 scoreless frames over his last two appearances. That was preceded by a 5.72 ERA in 10 starts, though, making him a poor streaming option especially since he won't be ready for a full workload.

The Nationals reinstated Corbin (personal) from the bereavement list Monday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Corbin was away from the Nationals for the entire series with the Phillies this past weekend, but he wasn't scheduled to pitch at any point during the three-game set after he made his most recent start last Wednesday in Seattle. He's already been confirmed to make his return to the Washington rotation Tuesday versus the Reds at Nationals Park.
