Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said after Tuesday's loss to the Marlins that Wainwright will be placed on the 15-day injured list with shoulder inflammation, Ben Frederickson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Wainwright could use a break after getting torched again Tuesday for seven earned runs on seven hits and two walks over just 3.1 innings. He's surrendered 20 combined earned runs across his last three starts and his season ERA has ballooned to 7.66. The 41-year-old right-hander seems certain to retire at the conclusion of the 2023 campaign, and it's unclear how many major-league starts he may have left.

San Diego recalled Waldron from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

Waldron will rejoin the Padres in a long relief role ahead of Tuesday's game against the Angels. He made a spot start last month and scattered two earned runs on four hits and one walk over 4.2 innings.

Wacha was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to July 2, with right shoulder inflammation.

Wacha has been battling shoulder fatigue in recent weeks, though he was able to deliver five innings of one-run ball Saturday against the Reds to earn his eighth win of the season. He'll be eligible to return to the Padres' rotation shortly after the All-Star break.

Painter (elbow) did not throw live batting practice Tuesday because of some stiffness, Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Painter was scheduled to face live hitters for the first time since he suffered a sprained UCL in March, but the Phillies don't want to push the 20-year-old right-hander until he is fully free of any discomfort. "As of now, no, I don't have any concern," manager Rob Thomson told reporters Tuesday afternoon. "We just want to make sure that stiffness gets out and we move forward."

Darvish (illness) said Tuesday that he's aiming to return to the Padres' rotation this weekend against the Mets, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Darvish hasn't pitched since June 21 due to a viral illness that caused him to lose about seven pounds, but he is beginning to regain his strength and should be able to fit in one more outing before the All-Star break. When healthy this season, the veteran right-hander has gone 5-6 with a 4.84 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 85:25 K:BB in 14 starts covering 80 innings.

Corbin (5-10) took the loss Tuesday, allowing six runs on 10 hits and three walks over five innings in an 8-4 loss against the Reds. He struck out two.

It was a rough day for Corbin after he shut out the Mariners over seven innings in his previous start. The 33-year-old lefty is now 1-5 with a 5.54 ERA over his last seven starts. Overall, Corbin's ERA is up to 5.13 with a 1.59 WHIP and 68:32 K:BB across 18 starts (101.2 innings) this season. It won't get any easier for Corbin in his next outing -- he's scheduled for a home matchup with the Rangers this weekend.

Kennedy (1-0) earned the win Tuesday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over five-plus innings against the Nationals. He struck out three.

Kennedy allowed just one run through his first four innings before the Nats tagged on another in the fifth and two more in the sixth, forcing the right-hander out of the game. However, the Reds' offense carried the burden Tuesday, giving Kennedy an 8-4 win. The start was the 28-year-old Kennedy's first since 2018 with the Padres. With the Reds facing a myriad of injuries in their rotation, Kennedy could be in line for additional starts with Cincinnati.

Quintana (ribs) is scheduled to make another rehab start Friday with Triple-A Syracuse, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Quintana will aim to get up to around 75-80 pitches after topping out at 64 pitches (33 strikes) over just 2.2 innings last week at Syracuse. Recovered from March surgery on his rib cage, the 34-year-old left-hander seems likely to make his Mets debut shortly after the All-Star break.

Wesneski was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

Wesneski had been pitching in relief of late and faring well, allowing two runs over 10 innings. He'll head back to Iowa, though, and it's not clear what role is planned for him there.

The Reds selected Kennedy's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Kennedy will start Tuesday's game against the Nationals in what will be his first appearance in the big leagues since 2018. The 28-year-old began this year pitching in independent ball before posting a 3.71 ERA and 37:12 K:BB over 43.2 frames covering eight starts at Louisville.
