Houser (4-4) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and struck out six without walking a batter over 5.1 innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Dodgers.

The Brewers were economical with their limited offense against Bobby Miller and Ryan Yarbrough, but Houser's sixth-inning fade took them out of the game. Houser has allowed at least three runs in five of his last six outings, and he hasn't gone more than six innings in any of them. The 30-year-old right-hander is now at a 4.43 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 68:26 K:BB through 83.1 innings over 17 appearances (15 starts) this season. He's lined up for a challenging road start at Texas this weekend.

Miller (7-2) allowed a run on a hit and a walk while striking out four over six innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Brewers.

Miller allowed the first two batters in the game to reach base and gave up a run on a fielder's choice, but he retired 18 straight after finding his way in the shaky opening frame. He's up to six quality starts in 14 outings this season, pitching to a solid 3.70 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 70:22 K:BB through 75.1 innings. Miller is projected to make his next start at home versus the Marlins this weekend.

Gray (7-10) took the loss Tuesday, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks over three innings against the Red Sox. He struck out four.

Gray needed 83 pitches to make it through just three innings in Tuesday's loss. The 25-year-old right-hander has hit a rough patch recently, allowing 14 runs over his last three starts (13.1 innings). Gray's ERA is now up to 3.96 with a 1.47 WHIP and 114:62 K:BB across 24 starts (129.2 innings) this season. He'll look to right the ship in his next start, currently scheduled for next week against the Yankees.

Cueto did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against Houston. He struck out three.

After cruising through his first three frames, Cueto surrendered two runs on a Yainer Diaz homer in the fourth before the Astros added three more runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Cueto's now allowed three or more runs in each of his last four outings. The veteran right-hander is 0-3 with a 5.57 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB across six starts (32.1 innings) this season. Cueto will look to get into the win column in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week in San Diego.

Ashcraft (6-8) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks over seven innings against the Guardians. He struck out two.

After allowing a pair of runs in the opening inning, Ashcraft blanked the Guardians over his subsequent six frames before allowing a third run in the seventh. However, the Reds failed to generate any run support in a 3-0 loss. Ashcraft hasn't allowed more than three runs in a start since June 24 -- he's pitched to a 2.17 ERA over his last nine outings. Overall, the 25-year-old right-hander has a 4.89 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP and 90:48 K:BB across 23 starts (127 innings) this season. Ashcraft's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Angels in his next outing.

The Brewers will make a decision on when to send Ashby (shoulder) on a rehab assignment "very soon," Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Ashby has been throwing bullpens and batting practice at the Brewers' complex in Arizona with no issues, but he hasn't been able to get up to his usual velocity. As a result, the team will be forced to decide whether to keep building Ashby up or send him on a minor-league rehab assignment. Manager Craig Counsell emphasized the importance of having Ashby capable of operating at "full octane" for Milwaukee down the stretch, but he added there will be "hurdles to clear" in order to do so.

Wacha (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day injured list ahead of his return to the Padres' rotation Tuesday against the Orioles.

Wacha is officially back in the mix for San Diego following a six-week absence to heal a bout of shoulder inflammation. The 32-year-old right-hander had registered a strong 2.84 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 73:25 K:BB in 85.2 innings (15 starts) prior to the injury. He got up to 67 pitches in his final rehab outing last week at the Padres' complex in Arizona.

Stroman (hip) is experiencing right rib discomfort and will not be activated from the injured list Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Stroman had been slated to return to the Cubs' rotation Wednesday night against the White Sox, but his absence will stretch on at least a little while longer. The 32-year-old is being evaluated Tuesday by Chicago's medical staff to determine the severity of this rib-related setback. He originally landed on the injured list Aug. 2 due to right hip inflammation.

Pittsburgh optioned Priester to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Priester got a six-start run in the Pirates' starting rotation and struggled to a 9.10 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 23:18 K:BB across 28.2 innings. It's uncertain whether the 22-year-old right-hander will get another look in the majors before the end of the 2023 season. Yohan Ramirez has been called up in a corresponding move.

The Mets recalled Butto from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

Butto has spent the majority of this season with Syracuse and holds an underwhelming 5.96 ERA in 80 innings there, but the Mets need a fresh bullpen arm leading into Tuesday night's game against the Pirates.
