Wacha (11-3) took the loss Wednesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks over four innings against Philadelphia. He struck out six.

Wacha struggled from the start Wednesday, surrendering a lead-off homer to Kyle Schwarber in the first inning. The 32-year-old Wacha had been pitching well since returning from the IL on Aug. 15, working to a 2.91 ERA over his prior four starts. He now sports a 2.99 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP and 102:38 K:BB across 20 starts (111.1 innings) this season. He'll look to right the ship in his next outing, currently scheduled for early next week against the Dodgers.

Wheeler (11-6) earned the win Wednesday, allowing just one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings against the Padres. He struck out seven.

A Manny Machado single in the fourth inning was the lone hit against Wheeler on Monday, who's now gone six or more innings in 11 consecutive starts. The 33-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.49 through 28 starts (170 innings) this season with a 1.05 WHIP and 192 strikeouts, sixth most in the league. Wheeler will look to keep rolling in his next start, currently scheduled for next week against Atlanta.

Flexen (1-3) took the loss Wednesday, allowing six runs on four hits and two walks over 2.1 innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out three.

Arizona exploded for five runs in the third inning after Flexen hit a pair of batters. The 29-year-old right-hander has allowed 10 runs in his last two starts (eight innings). Flexen's ERA is up to 7.36 with a 1.74 WHIP and 60:32 K:BB across 80.2 innings between the Rockies and Mariners this season. He's tentatively lined up for a home matchup with the Cubs in his next outing.

Davies did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks over three innings against Colorado. He struck out two.

It was a rough outing for Davies, who had allowed just two runs over his previous two starts (11 innings). The Rockies got to him early Wednesday, scoring four times in the first inning after the first four batters reached safely. Overall, Davies is 2-5 with an unsightly 6.81 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 59:33 K:BB across 15 starts (71.1 innings) this season. He'll look to get on track in his next start, currently scheduled for early next week against the Mets.

Nelson will be recalled from Triple-A Reno to start Thursday's game against the Cubs, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Since being sent down to Reno on Aug. 13, Nelson has produced a 3.74 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 9:7 K:BB in 21.2 innings. Despite turning in poor results over his first 24 starts with the Diamondbacks prior to his demotion, Nelson will get another look in the big-league rotation after Arizona optioned struggling fifth starter Slade Cecconi to Reno on Monday.

Grove (lat) is expected to return to the Dodgers in a relief role early next week, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Grove has primarily worked as a starter this season, but the 26-year-old right-hander is poised to operate in a multi-inning bullpen gig down the stretch following a month-long stay on the major-league injured list for a bout of right lat tightness. Ryan Pepiot will be the rotation replacement for Julio Urias, who is now on administrative leave following his Sunday arrest on suspicion of felony domestic violence.

Major League Baseball placed Urias on administrative leave Wednesday following his arrest Sunday on suspicion of felony domestic violence, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Urias previously received a 20-game suspension in 2019 under MLB's domestic violence policy and could be facing a longer ban in the wake of his arrest. An impending free agent, the 27-year-old has likely already made his final appearance in a Dodgers uniform regardless of where MLB's investigation into the incident ultimately leads. Urias is set to appear in court in Los Angeles on Sept. 27.

Wright (shoulder) said Wednesday that he expects to make at least one more minor-league rehab start, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Wright tallied seven strikeouts and yielded just one hit over 3.2 scoreless innings Tuesday with Triple-A Gwinnett, but he tossed only 50 pitches in that outing and will need to be stretched out a bit more before becoming an option again for Atlanta's rotation. The 27-year-old right-hander has been on the 60-day injured list since early May because of a shoulder strain.

Chandler was promoted Wednesday from High-A Greensboro to Double-A Altoona, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Chandler earned the level jump after delivering a stellar 1.85 ERA and 43:13 K:BB over his last 43.2 innings (eight starts) with Greensboro. The 20-year-old former two-way player is quickly rounding into a highly promising pitching prospect for the Pirates. He was a third-round pick in the 2021 draft out of high school.

Miami recalled Cabrera from Triple-A Jacksonville ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Dodgers.

The initial plan had been for Cabrera to return as a sixth starter for the Marlins, but he's now entering a five-man mix with Sandy Alcantara getting sent to the 15-day injured list Wednesday because of a flexor strain. Cabrera, 25, was sporting a 2.22 ERA and 30:12 K:BB in 28.1 innings (five starts) since his Aug. 1 demotion to Jacksonville. He's worked to a 4.79 ERA and 93:52 K:BB in 77 innings (17 starts) this season at the MLB level.
