Paxton did not factor into the decision in Friday's 4-3 win against the Tigers, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks with one strikeout over 3.2 innings.

Paxton yielded three runs over the first two innings and was pulled with two outs in the fourth at 81 pitches. The southpaw's velocity was over one mph below his season averages on all of his offerings, and he has now failed to pitch beyond the fifth inning in each of his past four outings. He will take a 4.38 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 57:44 K:BB across 84.1 innings into the All-Star break.

Chirinos (0-1) took the loss Friday against the Reds, allowing seven runs on eight hits and four walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out one.

He served up three homers through the first three innings, including a Rece Hinds grand slam in the third. It's the first loss in five starts this year for Chirinos, but he hadn't allowed more than three runs in an outing prior to Friday. The 30-year-old right-hander's ERA is now up to 5.76 with a 1.72 WHIP and 21:9 K:BB across 25 innings. Despite those numbers, Chirinos is expected to remain in the Marlins' injury-ravaged rotation following the All-Star break.

Spiers (3-2) earned the win Friday over the Marlins, allowing three runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out nine.

All three of the runs charged to Spiers came on a Jesus Sanchez homer in the fourth inning that cut Cincinnatti's lead to 7-3. Otherwise, the 26-year-old right-hander was sharp, logging a career-high nine strikeouts while earning his third win in his last four starts. Spiers' ERA now sits at 3.83 with a 1.26 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB across 47 innings this season. With Graham Ashcraft (elbow) potentially out for the year, Spiers will likely stick in the Reds rotation in the second half.

Suarez (10-4) took the loss against the Athletics on Friday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts over six innings.

Suarez allowed three two-out runs in a rough third inning and then yielded another run in the fifth. While the Phillies offense didn't help much Friday, he has been stuck on 10 wins since June 8 and has surrendered 16 earned runs over his past three outings. The first-time All-Star still owns an impressive 2.76 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 112:26 K:BB this season and will look to hit the reset button over the break.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Yamamoto (shoulder) played catch from 60 feet twice this week, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

It's an encouraging step for the right-hander, who had been shut down from throwing since he landed on the injured list with a rotator cuff strain in mid-June. Yamamoto will need to build his arm strength up before he returns to throwing off a mound. He's likely not particularly close to a return, as he'll need multiple rehab starts before rejoining the Dodgers.

Manager David Bell said Friday that Ashcraft (elbow) won't be able to come back until September if he's able to return at all in 2024, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Ashcraft had his demotion to Triple-A Louisville voided earlier this week, and he was placed on the injured list with a right elbow strain instead. Previous reports indicated that Ashcraft would be shut down from throwing for at least two weeks, but the injury may require a longer recovery than initially anticipated. Carson Spiers has shifted into the fifth starter role in Ashcraft's place.

The Nationals optioned Adon to Triple-A Rochester on Friday.

Adon was recalled Monday and allowed a pair of runs across one inning against the Cardinals. He'll yield his spot on the active roster to Jackson Rutledge. Adon owns a 5.55 ERA across 60.0 innings with Rochester.

The Pirates reinstated Gonzales (forearm) from the 60-day injured list, and he'll start Friday's game against the White Sox.

Gonzales has been shelved since April due to a forearm strain, but he's been cleared to return and will immediately step into the rotation. The veteran lefty did struggle during a pair of rehab starts at Triple-A, recording a 6.14 ERA across 7.1 innings, but he'll likely have some room for error against a White Sox team that has one of the worst offenses in MLB.

The Mets placed Peterson on the paternity list Friday.

Peterson delivered six scoreless frames against the Nationals in his final start before the All-Star break Thursday, so his absence won't affect the Mets' rotation and will allow the club to add an extra bullpen arm. Eric Orze was called up in a corresponding move Friday.

Barco, who has logged 62 innings in his first full season since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2022, was placed on the development list for High-A Greensboro on Tuesday.

Barco had surgery in May of 2022 and threw 18.1 innings in late 2023 after returning. He has been excellent thus far for the Grasshoppers, logging a 3.34 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 77 strikeouts across 16 appearances, but Pittsburgh is keeping a close eye on his workload. It's unclear when Barco will return from his break on the development list.
