Hill (2-1) earned the win Thursday against the Yankees after tossing 6.2 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and three walks while fanning nine.

Hill has posted three straight scoreless appearances after beginning the season on a down note, and he owns a 9.8 K/9 with two quality starts over that three-game stretch. Hill's next start is scheduled to come next week on the road against the Orioles.

Taillon (1-3) was tagged with the loss Thursday against the Rays after giving up four runs on six hits and two walks while fanning nine across 4.2 innings.

Taillon gave up four runs -- tying his season-worst mark -- but also recorded a season-high mark in strikeouts. Taillon owns an impressive 43:8 K:BB through 33.1 innings, but it's worth noting he has given up three or more runs in three of his last four outings.

Lynch was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

The 24-year-old was crushed for 14 runs in eight innings across his first three starts in the majors, so he'll make his way back to Triple-A. Lynch will attempt to get back on track at Omaha after an ugly start to his major-league career.

Rodon (back/hamstring) will be good to go for his scheduled start Saturday against the Royals, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Rodon was initially scheduled to start Thursday against the Twins but was pushed back after experiencing back and hamstring tightness. Any injury is a worry for a player like Rodon who has battled more than his fair share of ailments, but these particular issues appear minor and aren't related to the elbow and shoulder problems which forced him to miss extended periods in recent seasons. It's possible Rodon is on a reduced pitch count Saturday, but the White Sox may need him to go as deep as possible, as a doubleheader Friday could wind up taxing the team's bullpen.

Whitlock allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out two over three scoreless innings to earn the save in Thursday's 8-1 win over the Athletics.

Whitlock was stretched out enough to finish the final three innings and claim the first save of his career. He's normally a middle reliever that works multiple innings, but Whitlock has earned the chance to throw high-leverage if needed. As manager Alex Cora continues to search for the right late-game mix -- Darwinzon Hernandez is failing that test right now -- Whitlock could emerge as an important piece in the final third of games.

Lyles will make his next start Monday against the Yankees, Sam Blum of the Dallas Morning News reports.

It's telling that manager Chris Woodward needed to confirm Lyles' status ahead of Monday's start. The right-hander has a 6.63 ERA for the season and a 7.24 ERA in the seven games since he won his first start. Most recently, Lyles walked five batters in a loss to the Giants on Tuesday, but his skipper was encouraged by the final four innings of that start. "The last couple have been important for Jordan just to get back on track," Woodward said. "But if for some reason it didn't work out that way, then yeah, we may have considered doing something." So, it's status quo with Lyles in the rotation for now, but the manager's comments suggest he doesn't have a long leash.

Urquidy (shoulder) underwent an MRI on Thursday, but there is no update on his status, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Urquidy was removed from Wednesday's game after 3.2 innings with posterior shoulder discomfort. Manager Dusty Baker did not have results from the MRI but did say the pitcher "felt sore" when he woke up Thursday morning. If the results of the MRI determines a stay on the injured list is necessary, it's unclear how the Astros would cover Urquidy's rotation spot.

Kopech will start the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Royals, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

White Sox manager Tony La Russa was leaning toward Kopech making the start but wanted to get through the three-game series against Minnesota first, in case he was needed out of the bullpen. This will be Kopech's third start and first since April 25 against the Rangers, when he struck out 10 over 87 pitches and five innings.

Gilbert (0-1) took the 4-2 loss against Cleveland in his major-league debut Thursday, allowing four runs and five hits with five strikeouts in four innings.

It was a mixed bag for Gilbert's first start as the four runs and two home runs weren't optimal, but five strikeouts and zero walks are encouraging for the young starter's potential. More run support can perhaps be expected as Gilbert lines up to potentially face the White Sox in his next start.

Bubic allowed three hits and four walks with six strikeouts over five scoreless innings in Thursday's 4-3 loss to Detroit.

Bubic has worked well in a long-relief role -- he hasn't allowed a run in his last 11.2 innings across three appearances. The southpaw has a 1.42 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB across 12.2 innings overall. Bubic has experience as a starter, but he's walking a few too many batters to be truly dominant. Nonetheless, he could be an option for a spot start should such a situation arise.
