Greinke (0-2) picked up the loss Monday after pitching six innings, surrendering one run on three hits while striking out one batter against the Cardinals.

Greinke was very effective in this one, limiting the Cardinals to just three baserunners, a season low for him. The only blemish on his line came with one out in the bottom of the first inning, when Paul Goldschmidt took him deep for a solo shot. Greinke has now rattled off five straight starts to open the season where he has allowed three runs or less. He also has posted two consecutive quality starts. He will not offer very much in the strikeout department with seven total on the year, but his 2.57 ERA and 0.96 WHIP suggest that he should be in line to start picking up some wins sooner rather than later.

Gonzales (wrist) will make his scheduled start Monday against the Astros in Houston.

The southpaw's previous start April 27 in Tampa Bay lasted less than an inning after he was struck in the left wrist with a comebacker, but he was fortunate to avoid any structural damage and escaped with a bruise. Gonzales was able to complete his between-starts bullpen session Friday without incident, so he shouldn't face any strict limitations with his workload as he takes the hill for the fifth time this season. He turned in a 3.86 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB across 14 innings over his first four outings.

Ryu (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.

Ryu tossed three innings during a simulated game over the weekend, and his advance to a rehab assignment will likely serve as the final step in his recovery process. Manager Charlie Montoyo is optimistic that the southpaw will just need a brief rehab stint, so it's possible he'll be able to rejoin the Blue Jays following one or two outings with the minor-league club.

Gausman (2-1) allowed two runs on six hits and no walks while striking out 10 in seven innings to earn the win over the Astros on Sunday.

Gausman had allowed two runs (one earned) in 14 innings over his two starts leading up to Sunday's matchup, and he tossed five scoreless innings to begin the game against Houston. Although the right-hander faltered slightly in the sixth and seventh innings, he struck out a season-high 10 batters and earned his second win in his last three outings. Gausman threw 71 of 98 pitches for strikes and has a 2.27 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in 31.2 innings over his first five starts in 2022. He projects to make his next start on the road against Cleveland on Friday.

Valdez (1-2) allowed three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two in 6.1 innings to take the loss in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Valdez has now posted three quality starts in his first five outings this season, but the Astros were unable to generate much offensive production in Sunday's 3-2 loss. The southpaw completed five scoreless frames to begin the game but gave up three runs in the sixth and seventh prior to his removal. However, Valdez threw 101 pitches in the defeat and now has a 3.42 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 26.1 innings this year. He tentatively lines up to start Saturday's game against the Tigers at home.

Lyles (2-2) earned the win after giving up one run on seven hits with six strikeouts and three walks across six innings during Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

The veteran right-hander generated 13 swinging strikes and limited Boston to one run despite allowing multiple baserunners to reach in five of his six innings. It was the first time this season Lyles completed six full frames, and the six strikeouts also tied his season high. The 31-year-old has a 4.50 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 21:10 K:BB across 26 innings this year, and his next start tentatively lines up for Friday against the Royals.

Gilbert (4-0) picked up the win against the Marlins on Sunday, allowing one run on three hits and four walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

Even without his best control, Gilbert still managed to hang zeros on the scoreboard en route to his fourth win in five starts. The 24-year-old right-hander has allowed a total of 18 hits in 28 innings this season, and only two of those hits have gone for home runs. He seems to be in the midst of a breakout with a 0.64 ERA early on, though he could stand to raise his strikeouts to help stave off the eventual BABIP and left-on-base regression.

Gray (hamstring) threw three scoreless innings with five strikeouts and no walks Sunday in a rehab start for Single-A Fort Myers.

Gray will likely return to the rotation Friday against Oakland, but there hasn't been an official announcement. The Twins will likely see how Gray is feeling Monday before making a decision.

Kaprielian (0-1) took the loss during Sunday's 7-3 defeat at the hands of the Guardians, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks with two strikeouts in two innings.

Kaprielian started okay by getting through the first inning unscathed but permitted one run on three hits in the second and walked the bases loaded in third before being removed. Reliever Jacob Lemoine let all three inherited runners score, and Oakland was never able to recover from the early 4-0 deficit. Kaprielian was solid with a 4.07 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 119.1 innings last season and will look to turn things around against Detroit next week.

McKenzie (1-2) got the win during Sunday's 7-3 victory over Oakland, allowing four hits and one walk with seven strikeouts in 6.1 scoreless innings.

McKenzie was dealing Sunday, cruising through six easy innings before being pulled with two on and one out in the seventh. In logging his first quality start in five turns, the 24-year-old recorded season highs in innings pitched, strikeouts and pitch count (96). He'll carry a 2.70 ERA and 1.03 WHIP into his next start, likely to come against Toronto over the weekend.
