Taillon allowed two earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two across 2.2 innings Friday against Baltimore. He did not factor into the decision.

Taillon walked more than two batters for the first time in any start this season. It was also his shortest outing of the campaign, and he's now failed to complete at least six innings in eight of his last nine starts. In that same span, he has a 6.09 ERA with a 40:10 K:BB across 41.2 frames.

Bello was recalled by the Red Sox on Friday.

Bello was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on July 12, one day after he surrendered five earned runs across four innings against the Rays. He'll be needed in the rotation to take the place of Chris Sale (finger), who was placed on the injured list Friday. Bello has maintained a 2.82 ERA and 1.16 WHIP across 54.1 innings with Worcester this season.

Sale (finger) was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday.

Sale was diagnosed with a broken left pinky finger Monday and has been ruled out for at least a month. Given that news, his move to the injured list was a formality to clear a roster spot. Brayan Bello was recalled from Triple-A Worcester in the corresponding move.

Hill (knee) threw a three-inning simulated game Friday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Hill resumed mound work late last week and took another significant step in his recovery by facing live hitters Friday. It's not yet clear whether the left-hander will require a rehab assignment before rejoining Boston's rotation.

Wacha (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Saturday prior to throwing a simulated game Monday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Wacha has been on the injured list since early July due to right shoulder inflammation, but he's been throwing off a mound over the last week. It's not yet clear whether the right-hander will require a rehab assignment after facing hitters Monday.

Civale (wrist) met with a hand specialist this week, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

The visit determined that Civale has a ligament sprain and inflammation in his right wrist, but he is expected to resume throwing this week and the team expects him to return at some point in August. The right-hander was placed on the 15-day injured list July 14.

Bradish (shoulder) will make another rehab start this weekend, Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Bradish made a pair of rehab starts prior to the All-Star break and struck out nine in eight scoreless innings. However, the right-hander will require at least one more appearance in the minors prior to rejoining the Orioles' rotation. If Bradish feels good following this weekend's outing, he'll be in the mix to be activated late next week.

Kikuchi (neck) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.

Kikuchi landed on the injured list due to a neck strain July 7 and will require at least one rehab start prior to rejoining the Blue Jays' rotation. It's not yet clear how many appearances the southpaw will make with the minor-league club, but he'll likely be in the mix to return sometime next week or in early August.

Sears was returned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Thursday's doubleheader against the Astros.

Sears served as the 27th man during Thursday's twin bill and allowed two runs on a hit and no walks while striking out one in three relief innings. However, he'll head back to the minors, where he's posted a 2.06 ERA and 0.74 WHIP in 39.1 innings over 10 appearances (eight starts) this season.

Dunning (ankle) allowed two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out nine over five innings Thursday for the Rangers' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate.

The Rangers are already listing Dunning as their probable starter for Tuesday's game at Seattle, so it looks like he'll be activated off the 15-day injured list that day if he comes out of this rehab outing without any setbacks. The fact that the right-hander was able to throw five innings Thursday suggests he'll be ready to handle a normal workload in his return to the Texas rotation.
