Wentz (shoulder) will be activated from Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list Wednesday to pitch in the Mud Hens' game that day against Omaha, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

According to McCosky, the Tigers plan to have Wentz make a tandem start along with Bryan Garcia, who was optioned to Triple-A earlier in the weekend. Wentz, who has been on the IL since early June with a left shoulder injury, will be rejoining Toledo after tossing three scoreless innings for High-A West Michigan on Wednesday. Wentz or Garcia could be options to rejoin the big club for its Aug. 15 doubleheader in Cleveland, when the Tigers will require a temporary sixth member of the rotation.

Flexen (7-9) took the loss during a 7-1 defeat in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Angels, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings.

Flexen navigated the first two innings unscathed before surrendering five runs over the next four innings to fall in line for the loss. The rough outing breaks a five-start streak of allowing two runs or fewer, during which the 28-year-old pitched to a 1.95 ERA across 27.2 innings. Flexen sports a 3.92 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 81 strikeouts in 117 innings across 21 starts and is scheduled to pitch again next weekend on the road against the Rangers.

Detmers (4-3) earned the win in Game 2 of Saturday's 7-1 victory over Seattle, allowing one run on six hits and one walk with seven strikeouts in seven innings.

Detmers kept the damage to a minimum early and surrendered only one run on a Luis Torrens solo shot in the fifth. This was the lefty's third straight start permitting one earned run or fewer. The 23-year-old has pitched to a 1.16 ERA in five starts since the start of July while recording 38 strikeouts in 31 innings. Detmers possesses 3.44 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 82 strikeouts in 89 innings across 17 starts and lines up to pitch again versus Minnesota next weekend.

Bundy allowed two runs on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts in four innings in a no-decision versus the Blue Jays on Saturday.

It was an unusually short start for Bundy (65 pitches, 45 strikes), with the only blemish on his line a two-run home run to Bo Bichette. It doesn't sound like Bundy had any issues, though it may be part of workload management -- his 93.1 innings this season is his highest total in three years. He's logged a 5.01 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 74:20 K:BB through 19 starts, and he's projected for a road start versus his former team, the Angels, next weekend.

Eovaldi allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out seven in six innings, taking a no-decision versus the Royals on Saturday.

Eovaldi gave up solo home runs to MJ Melendez and Kyle Isbel as well as a two-run single to Bobby Witt. This was the second time in his last five starts Eovaldi has avoided walking a batter, though he's given up at least three runs in four of those outings. The midseason slump has him at a 4.23 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 93:16 K:BB across 93.2 innings through 17 starts this year. The 32-year-old is projected for a home start against the Yankees next week.

Kirby (3-3) allowed one earned run over six innings and picked up the win in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Angels. He gave up six hits, struck out eight batters and walked none.

The Mariners scored only two runs Saturday, but that was plenty for Kirby, who allowed only two extra-base hits and just missed tying his season high of nine strikeouts. Since being tagged for a season-high seven earned runs June 27, Kirby has given up only six earned runs over his last five starts, covering 26.1 innings in that span.

Lynch allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out six in six innings in a no-decision versus the Red Sox on Saturday.

Lynch has showed increased control in his last two outings since returning from his second injured-list stint due to a blister. He hasn't walked a batter in his last 11.1 innings. Saturday's start was marred by the southpaw surrendering a pair of home runs, the first two he's given up in his last six outings. Lynch's ERA ticked up to 4.79 with a 1.52 WHIP and 86:33 K:BB through 82.2 innings across 17 starts. He's lined up for a difficult home start versus the Dodgers next week.

German (1-2) took the loss during Saturday's 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Cardinals, allowing one run on four hits with three strikeouts in five innings.

German surrendered his lone run in the first inning on consecutive two-out hits but shut down St. Louis the rest of the way, including retiring the final six batters he faced. Since allowing a combined seven runs in 7.2 innings in his first two starts, the 30-year-old has kept the damage to three runs across 10 innings in his last two turns. It amounts to a subpar 5.09 ERA and 1.53 WHIP with 13 strikeouts in 17.2 innings, though German is trending in the right direction. He's scheduled to take the mound again next weekend against Boston.

Civale (wrist) will return from the injured list to start Wednesday against the Tigers, Chris Assenheimer of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Civale has been out with a sprained right wrist since mid-July, be he's considered ready to go after making just a single rehab appearance. That outing, which came Friday for Triple-A Rochester, saw him allow two runs (one earned) on three hits across four innings of work, striking out three while walking two. He may be on a pitch count in his return to action Wednesday.

Junk was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Junk made two starts in his latest stint with the team, tossing five scoreless innings against the Royals in late July before getting knocked around for six runs in 2.1 frames Thursday against Oakland. Mike Mayers had his contract selected to replace Junk on the roster.
