Mahle did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing one run on three hits without a walk over 6.1 innings against Washington. He struck out four.

Mahle was chased in the seventh inning by a Joey Meneses home run, but he was still in line for the win. However the Minnesota bullpen did not hold up, forcing Mahle to settle for a quality start in his best outing of the season. The 28-year-old righty didn't walk a batter for the first time in 2023 and allowed a season-low three hits. Mahle is currently lined up to face the Yankees in his next start.

Sears gave up four runs on five hits and two walks over six frames in Friday's win over Texas. He struck out 11 and did not factor in the decision.

An ugly first inning put a damper on an otherwise impressive outing by Sears. All four runs he allowed came during that frame, including Jonah Heim's three-run blast. Sears' 11 strikeouts and 17 whiffs both flew by his previous career highs of seven and 12, respectively. He's now sporting a 23:4 K:BB, albeit with six homers allowed, through four starts. Sears is projected for a road matchup with the Angels next week.

Gray allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and five walks over 5.1 innings in Friday's loss to Oakland. He struck out two and did not factor in the decision.

Gray cruised through three shutout frames without much pushback from Oakland but coughed up one run in the fourth inning followed by two more in the fifth, including a solo homer by Tony Kemp. Gray was charged with one more run in the sixth following his removal after 92 pitches. His K:BB now sits at a lackluster 15:11 with a 3.72 ERA across 19.1 innings. Gray is lined up to take the mound in Cincinnati next week.

Brown yielded four runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings during Friday's win over Atlanta. He struck out seven and did not factor in the decision.

Atlanta immediately jumped on Brown in the first inning, plating four runs, including three with two outs. He settled in to prevent a disastrous outing but failed to complete five innings for the first time since his season debut April 3. Brown forced 14 whiffs (30 percent) including seven with the slider. He's registered a 29:9 K:BB and a 3.09 ERA through 25 frames.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Friday that Maeda (ankle) could avoid spending time on the injured list, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Maeda's X-rays came back negative Thursday, and the veteran righty said he's feeling "better than expected" a day after taking a line drive off his left ankle. The Twins will keep an eye on him for the next few days, but it sounds like Maeda might be able to make his next scheduled start.

Lynn will start Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Lynn will trade places with Lucas Giolito with Giolito moving up from Monday to start Sunday's game against the Rays. In his last start, Lynn was roughed up for five runs on 10 hits while walking three over 5.1 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Tuesday.

Lance Lynn was originally the probable starter for this contest, but Giolito will pitch the series finale against the Rays with Lynn now scheduled to start against Toronto on Monday. In his last start against the Twins on Tuesday, Giolito was sensational, tossing six no-hit innings with seven strikeouts while picking up the victory.

DeGrom (wrist) is throwing a bullpen Friday and doesn't intend to miss his start against the Athletics on Sunday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

As Grant points out, there's been nothing finalized, but it appears that deGrom will make his scheduled start against Oakland as long as everything goes well in the bullpen session. The right-hander was dominant over four innings against the Royals on Monday before leaving with right wrist soreness. Fantasy GMs will want to keep a close eye, but it does appear the ace will be on the bump against a very beatable Oakland lineup over the weekend.

The Guardians plan to call up Allen from Triple-A Columbus to start Sunday's game versus the Marlins, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

The 24-year-old's promotion depends on the weather cooperating, as Sunday's game could be at risk of postponement much like Friday's series opener with Miami. Allen is off to a great start at Columbus, posting a 1.26 ERA and 20:5 K:BB over 14.1 innings covering three starts. With Triston McKenzie (shoulder) and Aaron Civale (oblique) on the shelf and Cal Quantrill (leg) also banged up, Allen could have a chance to stick around a while if he pitches well in his MLB debut.

Bubic will undergo Tommy John surgery on his left elbow, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

After a relatively solid start to the year, the news puts an early end to Bubic's season, and he could be held out for a good portion of the 2024 campaign as well. The Royals have not yet named a replacement for Bubic in the rotation, but Ryan Yarbrough figures to be a prime candidate for the job.
