Dunning is expected to fill in for starter Jacob deGrom (elbow) while deGrom is on the 15-day injured list, Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reports.

DeGrom was placed on the IL on Saturday and is eligible to return May 14. The Rangers have two off days this coming week and will need a fifth starter once during that stretch if they choose to go with four starters over the next seven days. Dunning has pitched well out of the bullpen this season and has thrown at least four innings on two occasions, so he should be able to offer the Rangers a decent amount of length whenever he's needed to make a spot start in place of deGrom.

Boyd (1-2) took the loss in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles, surrendering six runs on eight hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out three.

Detroit jumped on the veteran southpaw for four runs in the second inning before a two-run homer by light-hitting Ryan McKenna in the sixth chased Boyd from the game. It's the first time in five starts this season he's given up more than three runs, but Boyd is beginning to have trouble keeping the ball in the yard, as he's served up four home runs in his last 15.2 innings. He'll take a 5.47 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 22:11 K:BB through 24.2 frames into his next outing, which could come next weekend in St. Louis.

Rodriguez (2-2) picked up the win in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

The veteran southpaw fell just short of his fourth straight quality start, getting the hook after 98 pitches (62 strikes) with Detroit up 5-1, but it was still another strong outing for Rodriguez. After a tough 2022 campaign on and off the field, the 30-year-old has roared back with a 2.21 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB through his first 36.2 innings this season. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which could come at home next week against the Mets.

Rodriguez (1-0) picked up the win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers, scattering two hits and a walk over five scoreless innings in a 6-4 victory. He struck out a career-high nine.

The rookie right-hander is still working on his efficiency, as he needed 91 pitches (59 strikes) to record 15 outs, but Rodriguez's results are beginning to match his prodigious talent as he generated an impressive 31 called or swinging strikes. He's got a 14-inning scoreless streak going, and through his first 24.1 frames in the majors the 23-year-old sports a 4.07 ERA and 34:11 K:BB. Rodriguez will look to build on his dominant run in his next outing, which could come next week in Kansas City.

Kremer (2-1) took the loss in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers as the Orioles fell 7-4. He coughed up five runs on 11 hits and two walks over five innings while striking out six.

Nine of the hits were singles and Kremer kept the ball in the park, but the poor result can't be dismissed as just bad luck. The right-hander has given up at least four runs in five of his six starts so far this season, and his 6.67 ERA and 1.58 WHIP through 29.2 innings could put his rotation spot in jeopardy, although Baltimore doesn't seem to have any obvious alternatives at the moment with DL Hall still trying to sharpen his control at Triple-A. Kremer will try to minimize the damage in his next outing, but that could be a tall order as it currently lines up to come next weekend in Atlanta.

Muller allowed one run on five hits and two walks over five innings against Cincinnati on Saturday. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.

Muller entered the contest having given up 16 earned runs over 13 innings across his previous three starts, so a positive outing was much needed. The southpaw didn't overpower the Reds -- he struck out just three batters and notched a meager six swinging strikes -- but he was able to limit them to a Luke Maile solo homer. The improvement should help Muller build some confidence, but it's unlikely to put his name in the minds of fantasy managers. With a 6.28 ERA and a 20:15 K:BB over 28.2 innings, he's pretty far off the radar for the time being.

Detmers (0-2) took the loss Saturday, allowing seven runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks over 4.1 innings against the Brewers. He struck out six.

Detmers struggled against Milwaukee after allowing just four runs over his previous 12 innings. The southpaw has not been a reliable option as of yet this season, posting a 4.85 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through five starts. However, the former 10th overall pick in 2020 still has plenty of upside, as evidenced by his no-hitter against Tampa Bay last spring. Detmers is tentatively slated to face the Rangers at home in his next start.

Javier (2-1) took the loss Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings against the Phillies. He struck out six.

Javier gave up more than five hits for the first time since March 31 while Nick Castellanos' solo homer in the fourth inning marked his fourth straight start allowing a long ball. Javier made matters worse after the Castellanos home run by giving up a double to Brandon Marsh and advancing him to third on a wild pitch, where he'd eventually score on a sacrifice fly hit by J.T. Realmuto. Through six starts, Javier holds a 3.48 ERA with a 35:7 K:BB and remains a strong fantasy contributor as the Astros' second arm.

Bello did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over five innings against Cleveland. He struck out six.

Bello returned from Triple-A after making a pair of starts earlier in April to take Garrett Whitlock's (elbow) spot in the rotation and turned in his best outing of the season. He set a new season-high in punchouts while also allowing less than three runs for the first time in 2023. For as long as Whitlock and James Paxton (hamstring) are sidelined, Bello should be the fifth rotation piece for Boston, but he doesn't have enough strikeout juice to warrant short-term fantasy consideration.

Chirinos (1-0) earned the win Saturday against the White Sox. He allowed one run on three hits while striking out three over 4.2 innings.

Chirinos picked up his first win of the season as the Rays' bulk pitcher. He also allowed his first run of the season thanks to a couple of Chicago doubles in the sixth, but the Rays exploded for 10 runs in the seventh to put him in line for the victory. Chirinos has made four multi-inning relief appearances this season and sports a 0.64 ERA and 0.57 WHIP.
