Garcia underwent Tommy John surgery Friday as scheduled.

It was announced earlier this month that Garcia would require the reconstructive elbow procedure and miss the remainder of the 2023 season. Given the usual 14-16 month recovery timeline, he probably won't throw another pitch in a major-league game until at least the 2024 All-Star Game, if not later. The 27-year-old is under Houston's control through 2026.

Crawford (hamstring) was activated off the 15-day injured list by the Red Sox on Friday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Crawford ended up missing the minimum 15 days while recovering from a mild left hamstring strain. Ryan Sherriff was optioned back to Triple-A Worcester as the corresponding transaction. Crawford should be a multi-inning option now that he's back in the major-league bullpen.

Kansas City placed Keller on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 16, with right shoulder impingement syndrome.

Keller issued a whopping eight walks over just 3.2 innings in his last turn through the Royals' starting rotation Monday against the Padres. He's at 40 walks through 43.1 total innings this year. There is no timetable yet for the 27-year-old right-hander's return.

Battenfield was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with right shoulder inflammation, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Battenfield struggled in his last outing Wednesday against the White Sox and now will be on the shelf for at least a couple weeks. He had been slated to start Monday, so the Guardians will have to find a substitute.

Urquidy (shoulder) said he hopes to resume throwing next week, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Urquidy has been stuck in shutdown mode since going on the injured list at the beginning of May due to right shoulder discomfort. Imaging scans showed only inflammation, but the expectation is that the 28-year-old won't be ready to return to the Astros' starting rotation until sometime in July. There will be more clarity on the situation once Urquidy picks up a baseball again.

Skubal (elbow) will throw his another bullpen session Saturday as he continues his recovery from last year's flexor tendon surgery, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Skubal is 11 months removed from surgery and has been throwing all of his pitches, with Saturday's bullpen being his seventh since he began ramping up. He should be cleared to face hitters soon and could start a rehab assignment not long after that. A return to the Detroit rotation by late June seems possible.

Gil (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

It's his first time throwing off a mound since last year's Tommy John surgery. Gil had the operation last May and will try to become an option for the Yankees' rotation or bullpen at some point in the second half.

Berrios (3-4) took the loss Thursday against the Yankees, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out eight.

The right-hander was on the wrong end of the decision but still delivered his fourth quality start of the season, tossing 65 of 96 pitches for strikes before exiting. Since coughing up eight runs to the Royals in his season debut, Berrios has posted a 3.64 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 45:10 K:BB through 47 innings as he tries to put his awful 2022 behind him. His next outing figures to be a tough test however, as he's set to pitch early next week during a series in Tampa Bay.

Bradley did not factor in the decision against the Mets on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four batters over five frames.

Bradley was called up from Triple-A to make the start, and he gave the Rays five innings of two-run ball. The rookie righty failed to take home a win for the first time in his four starts as a major-leaguer, but he tied a season-best mark by allowing just three hits. Bradley continues to impress and could stick around in the Rays' rotation for the long term with Drew Rasmussen hitting the 60-day injured list last Friday due to a flexor strain.

Wells allowed three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against the Angels on Thursday.

Wells wasn't quite as sharp as he was in allowing just one run over 12 innings across his previous two starts, but the three runs he yielded Thursday were understandable as they all came on homers from Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout. Wells did impress by inducing 18 swinging strikes, and he fell one shy of his season high with seven punchouts. The right-hander has blossomed in his third MLB campaign, posting a 2.94 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 46:10 K:BB over 52 frames.
