Maeda (triceps) threw another successful bullpen session Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Maeda told Hayes that he hit 88 mph with his fastball and was encouraged by that radar reading as he prepares to embark on a rehab assignment. He'll throw one more bullpen session before meeting up with one of the Twins' minor-league affiliates next week. If all goes well from this point forward, Maeda could return to the rotation in early-to-mid June. He's been out since April 29 with a right triceps strain.

Mize (elbow/back) experienced lower back soreness following his latest throwing session, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Mize will be shut down for a week before trying to ramp up again. He required Tommy John surgery last June and then a back procedure shortly after. It's unclear at this point whether the 26-year-old former top prospect is going to be a contributor at all for the Tigers in 2023 as he continues to encounter roadblocks in his recovery.

Skubal (elbow) is scheduled to throw live batting practice later this week, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

The live BP workout will be a significant step forward for Skubal, who has been limited to bullpen sessions over the last month. Nearing the end of his recovery from August 2022 flexor tendon surgery, the 26-year-old southpaw might be a consideration for the Tigers' rotation by the end of June.

Oakland optioned Muller to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Muller was lit up for six earned runs on eight hits and two walks in a five-inning start Monday at Seattle. The 25-year-old left-hander carries a brutal 8.04 ERA in 47 innings (10 starts) this season at the major-league level.

Rodon (back) said Tuesday that he's hoping to begin throwing off a mound soon, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Rodon has made good progress since receiving a cortisone injection for his nagging back injury and is almost ready to try things out from the bump. It's not clear when he might be ready for a rehab assignment, but it's going to be awhile and he will require multiple rehab starts. So, while things are trending in the right direction, it seems likely that Rodon is at least a month away from making his season debut.

Lynch (shoulder) is making another rehab start with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Lynch had been mentioned as a candidate to return from the 15-day injured list to start for the Royals on Tuesday against the Tigers, but that's now out the window as he gets another tune-up in the minors. He could make his 2023 big-league debut as soon as Sunday at home versus the Nationals, or perhaps early next week in St. Louis. Kansas City has yet to announce a starter for Tuesday's game, though Mike Mayers could be the top candidate to start or serve as a bulk reliever.

German (suspension) is slated to rejoin the Yankees' rotation on Monday in Seattle, manager Aaron Boone told the Talkin' Yanks podcast Tuesday.

German is eligible to return from his foreign substance suspension Sunday but will instead be back a day after that as the Yankees begin a road trip. The right-hander will be pitching on 12 days' rest against the Mariners.

Rodon isn't throwing off a mound yet but has been pain-free throwing on flat ground since receiving a cortisone injection for his nagging back injury. He still has a long road ahead as he slowly builds back up but is moving in the right direction.

Dunning did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing one run on six hits and three walks over 5.2 innings during a 6-4 loss to Pittsburgh. He struck out three.

Dunning was able to work around trouble for the most part, allowing just one run on a fielder's choice in the second, but he was pulled in the bottom of the sixth with two outs after letting back-to-back hitters reach. Dunning began the season as a reliever but has moved into the rotation recently and submitted impressive results. He's allowed two or fewer runs and completed at least five innings in each of his four starts, posting a 1.59 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB across 22.2 innings. Dunning figures to remain in the rotation as long as he's able to continue his strong play.

Gaddis (1-1) earned the win Monday, tossing six scoreless innings in which he allowed two hits and one walk during a 3-0 win over the White Sox. He struck out four.

After a month at Triple-A Columbus, Gaddis was called up to the big-league club ahead of Monday's contest and made his sixth start of the season. It was the second time he completed at least six scoreless frames, lowering his ERA from 6.86 to 5.26. Gaddis hasn't been a major strikeout pitcher yet, but he's been able to take care of business more often than not in 2023, as the majority of the damage done to his ERA came during a tumultuous outing versus the Yankees on April 11. Gaddis figures to get at least one more turn in the rotation after his stellar outing against Chicago, but he's not guaranteed a spot in the rotation when Triston McKenzie (shoulder) and Aaron Civale (oblique) finish their rehab assignments.
