Kent was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Columbus on Friday due to a right elbow strain.

Kent presumably suffered the injury during his last appearance April 14, when he delivered a scoreless inning against Louisville. The right-hander will be out for at least the next week, but there's a decent chance he misses more time.

Flaherty allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out 10 during the win over Minnesota.

Flaherty was tagged with a two-run shot in the first inning but turned in four shutout frames after that. The Twins later pushed across two unearned runs in the sixth. Flaherty's produced a terrific 30:3 K:BB through 24.1 innings this season. That 11.1 K/9 is currently a career high and his first time producing a double-digit number in that category since the 2020 campaign. He also set a new season high with 19 whiffs. Flaherty is currently in line to take the mound in Tampa Bay next week.

Ryan allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out six during the loss to Detroit.

Ryan coughed up three runs in the first three innings Friday as he produced his worst start of the year. The 27-year-old has given up 10 runs (eight earned) over his last three appearances, driving his ERA up to 3.57 through 22.2 frames. He forced 12 whiffs on 93 pitches, all coming on the fastball and sweeper. Still searching for his first win, Ryan is lined up for a home matchup with the White Sox next week.

Crochet (1-3) took the loss Friday against the Phillies, allowing seven runs on five hits and two walks across three-plus innings. He struck out three.

Crochet was done in by the long ball, as he allowed a pair of three-run homers to Alec Bohm before Whit Merrifield led off the fourth with a solo shot, forcing Crochet out of the game. After an excellent start this year, the 24-year-old left-hander has now allowed 12 runs over 7.2 innings in his last two outings. Crochet's ERA is up to 5.61 despite an excellent 1.01 WHIP and 34:6 K:BB across five starts (25.2 innings). He'll look to bounce back in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week in Minnesota.

Anderson (2-2) took the loss Friday against the Reds, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out two.

Anderson was sharp Friday, holding Cincinnati to an unearned run in the second inning before Tyler Stephenson homered in the sixth. However, the Angels could only muster a lone run off Nick Lodolo before the Reds broke the game open against the bullpen, sticking Anderson with a second straight loss. The left-hander has gone seven innings in three of his first four starts this year, posting an impressive 1.42 ERA with a 0.95 WHIP and 14:9 K:BB after struggling to a 5.43 ERA in 25 starts last season. Anderson will look to snap his brief losing streak in his next outing, currently slated for next week against Baltimore.

Gipson-Long is set to undergo Tommy John surgery Monday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

After having multiple doctors examine his elbow, the decision has been made for Gipson-Long to get UCL reconstruction on his right elbow. The right-hander started the season on the 15-day IL with a groin injury, and he was progressing in his rehab assignment before experiencing right forearm tightness. Gipson-Long will be shelved for the rest of the season and will likely miss much of 2025.

Bradish (elbow) will make his next rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Bradish made his first rehab appearance Tuesday with Double-A Bowie. He threw 44 pitches and allowed just one hit over three scoreless innings while striking out four. Bradish will now move up to Triple-A Norfolk, as the right-hander continues his rehab from a partial UCL tear that kept him from pitching in spring training.

Astros manager Joe Espada said Valdez (elbow) played catch Friday and could throw off a mound as soon as Saturday or Sunday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The left-hander quickly resumed throwing after landing on the injured list April 9 with elbow inflammation, and his return to mound work will be another encouraging step. Valdez won't be ready to return from the injured list when first eligible next week, but given his current progression he could seemingly be back with the Astros sometime in early May.

Hancock and the Mariners will not play Friday after their contest against the Rockies was postponed due to inclement weather, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sunday. Hancock and Dakota Hudson had been slated to start Friday but will be pushed back at least one day to Saturday.

Verlander (shoulder) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list and is starting Friday against the Nationals.

Verlander missed the first few weeks of the season rehabbing from a shoulder issue but will make his 2024 debut Friday in Washington. According to Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle, manager Joe Espada said the Astros plan to limit the veteran right-hander to around 80-85 pitches, which would be a minor increase on the 77 pitches Verlander threw in his final rehab start.
