The Mariners recalled Kowar from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday.

Since being optioned to Triple-A in mid-June, Kowar has given up six runs (three earned) over nine innings while striking out 12 batters and walking seven. He owns a 2.08 ERA through 8.2 frames with the Mariners this year, but his career 8.38 ERA will keep him limited to a low-leverage role in Seattle's bullpen. Brandyn Garcia was optioned to Tacoma in a corresponding move.

Leahy has generated "intrigue" as a potential option for the Cardinals' rotation, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

All 76 of Leahy's appearances in the majors have come from the bullpen, and he has been used almost exclusively as a reliever since 2023. However, he has lots of past experiences as a starter in the minors, and many of his relief appearances have spanned multiple frames, including his last time out Tuesday in Colorado when he struck out seven while yielding one run over 3.2 innings. It does not sound like a move to the Cardinals' rotation is imminent for Leahy, but it could be considered if they trade other members of the rotation at the deadline. Leahy has posted a 2.95 ERA and 48:19 K:BB over 55 frames in 2025.

Akin (shoulder) is scheduled to make his next rehab appearance Saturday with Triple-A Norfolk, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Akin kicked off his rehab assignment earlier this week in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, tossing one scoreless inning in his lone appearance before shifting his assignment to Norfolk. The lefty reliever gave up two runs (one earned) on one hit in his appearance for the Triple-A club Wednesday and will stick around with Norfolk through the weekend. If Akin checks out fine following Saturday's outing, the Orioles could reinstate him from the 15-day injured list early next week.

Dominguez is a candidate for save chances while Felix Bautista (shoulder) is out, although interim manager Tony Mansolino indicated Thursday that he doesn't think he'll have a set closer, Brendan Mortensen of MASNSports.com reports.

Dominguez notched 10 saves for the Orioles last season after being acquired at the trade deadline and has added two more saves this season. The 30-year-old has posted a 3.40 ERA with 51 strikeouts over 39.2 frames in 2025, but walks (24) have been an issue. Andrew Kittredge, Gregory Soto and Yennier Cano could also be in the mix for saves while Bautista is sidelined, but Dominguez is the guy to target on the waiver wire.

The Orioles recalled Strowd from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

He'll join the 26-man active roster as a replacement for right-hander Felix Bautista (shoulder), who was placed on the injured list. Strowd has yielded two runs in 4.1 frames with the Orioles this season and holds a 4.15 ERA and 41:15 K:BB over 34.2 innings at Norfolk.

The Orioles placed Bautista on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right shoulder discomfort.

Bautista was unavailable to pitch during Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Cleveland due to an undisclosed injury, and the Orioles have now revealed that the closer's shoulder is bothering him. Per interim manager Tony Mansolino, Bautista will undergo an MRI on Friday to determine the severity of the injury, according to Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com. Bautista's name has come up in trade rumors, but the injury likely means he's staying put ahead of the July 31 deadline. Seranthony Dominguez is the favorite to receive the bulk of the save chances for Baltimore while Bautista is shelved, although Mansolino indicated Thursday that he'll play matchups late in games, Brendan Mortensen of MASNSports.com reports.

Hjelle allowed three earned runs on four hits while striking out one over one inning in Wednesday's 9-3 victory over Atlanta.

Hjelle gave up three singles and a ground-rule double in his second appearance since being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. The 28-year-old threw 15 of his 20 pitches for strikes before escaping the inning. The right-hander has struggled in the majors this season, posting a 7.71 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and an 11:8 K:BB while surrendering two home runs across 14 innings in 11 appearances (one start).

The Rockies are expected to call up Anderson from Triple-A Albuquerque, Chase Ford of MiLBCentral reports.

Anderson has spent all of the 2025 season at the Triple-A level between the Cardinals and Rockies organizations, collecting a 5.79 ERA and 35:15 K:BB over 32.2 innings. The veteran right-hander is likely to operate in a middle-relief role.

Lucchesi threw a scoreless inning in Wednesday's 9-3 win over Atlanta, allowing no hits while striking out one.

Lucchesi threw eight of his 10 pitches for strikes, recording his 10th consecutive scoreless outing. During that span, the left-hander has allowed six hits and two walks while striking out 16 over 12 innings. Since joining the major-league roster from Triple-A Sacramento on June 15, the 32-year-old has posted a 1.93 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and a 17:2 K:BB across 14 innings in 13 appearances.

Gray (forearm) was awarded the win in Thursday's 2-1 victory over the Athletics after giving up one hit over two scoreless innings of relief.

Activated from the 60-day injured list earlier Thursday after he had been on the shelf for the entire season due to the broken right forearm he suffered in mid-March, Gray was used out of the bullpen for just the fifth time in 228 career big-league appearances. Manager Bruce Bochy immediately threw Gray into the fire in a high-leverage spot, with the right-hander entering with runners on the corners with two outs in a 1-1 game in the top of the sixth. He induced a flyout from Tyler Soderstrom to end the inning, then retired the next five batters he faced before he was lifted after allowing a two-out single to Brent Rooker in the top of the eighth. Though Gray got stretched out to 3.2 innings and 61 pitches during his recent rehab assignment, the Rangers appear content to keep him in the bullpen, where the team has a greater need for impact arms after setup man Chris Martin (calf) recently landed on the IL.
