Seymour (3-1) took the loss against the Nationals on Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits and no walks with four strikeouts over five innings.

Seymour allowed two runs in the second inning and one in the fifth while logging five frames for the first time this season. He threw 57 strikes on a season-high 81 pitches and generated nine whiffs. The 27-year-old owns a 4.98 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 45:19 K:BB across 43.1 innings this season while making three starts and 26 relief appearances. If he remains in the rotation, he'll line up for a home matchup against the Royals next week.

Beeter earned the save in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rays, allowing one run on one hit and two walks with two strikeouts in the ninth inning.

Beeter was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning and allowed a run with no outs before bearing down to slam the door. It marked the 27-year-old's first save since May 31, and with Gus Varland having last appeared June 16, it appears the Nationals are still taking a committee approach to the closer role. On the year, Beeter owns a 3.63 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 25:16 K:BB across 22.1 innings while collecting five saves and three holds.

The Cubs acquired Murray from the Astros on Saturday in exchange for first baseman Cameron Sisneros, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports.

Houston designated Murray for assignment Tuesday after he allowed 11 earned runs in just 13.1 frames in the majors. He owns a 1.17 ERA and 0.79 WHIP at the Triple-A level this season, however, so the Cubs will take a chance on him and add him to their 40-man roster. The 29-year-old still has minor-league options remaining and therefore doesn't have to join the 26-man active roster immediately, though he could report directly to Chicago to provide the big club with a fresh bullpen arm.

Peterson will start Sunday's game against the Phillies in Philadelphia, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

Peterson has surrendered nine earned runs in just 6.2 innings across his last two appearances out of the bullpen, but the Mets will nonetheless turn to him to fill the open spot in their rotation in the series finale. The Phillies have turned in a weak .670 OPS across their last 10 contests, but the 30-year-old southpaw's recent performance puts a low ceiling on his fantasy appeal.

The Athletics recalled Hartlieb from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

With Mark Leiter (hip) headed for the injured list, the A's will turn to Hartlieb to plug the hole in their bullpen. The 32-year-old righty has spent the entire season at Las Vegas, posting a 3.48 ERA and 1.39 WHIP across 33.2 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. He's likely set for middle-relief work as long as he's in the majors.

The Athletics placed Leiter on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to Thursday, due to a right hip impingement, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Leiter has given up just one earned run in his last 14 innings, but the A's will be without his services for at least a couple of weeks while he recovers from a hip injury. Geoff Hartlieb was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to replenish the team's bullpen depth.

The Diamondbacks recalled Abner from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.

Abner will return to the big leagues to replace Michael Soroka, who landed on the injured list Saturday with a glute strain. Abner has given up seven earned runs in just 3.2 innings with the big club this season and will likely be limited to low-leverage situations while in the majors.

The Yankees optioned Bird to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Bird pitched scoreless innings in both Friday's and Saturday's contests, lowering his ERA to 4.88 through 24 innings on the season. He'll now end up as the roster casualty necessary to create space in preparation for Elmer Rodriguez's promotion Sunday. Bird is likely to return to the Bronx at some point this season when the Yankees need a fresh arm in the bullpen.

Palencia was diagnosed with a mild flexor strain in his right arm Saturday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Manager Craig Counsell said that Palencia will be shut down from throwing for about a week, at which point the team will re-evaluate him. A clearer timeline for his return to the bullpen may emerge once he's cleared to begin a throwing program. In the meantime, Caleb Thielbar, Jacob Webb and Phil Maton all could be in the mix for saves.

Santos (adductor) allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk while striking out one over one inning during the ACL Giants' 7-4 loss to the ACL Athletics in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Friday.

Triple-A Sacramento placed Santos on its 7-day injured list May 26 with a right adductor strain, and he returned to action in Arizona. The 26-year-old right-hander gave up two singles while throwing 16 of his 20 pitches for strikes. He has spent most of the season at Triple-A, where he owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB across 14 innings in 12 appearances.
