The Rangers optioned Corniell to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Corniell was saddled with the loss Tuesday in Miami in his first appearance in the majors this season, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts over 3.1 innings. Winston Santos was recalled from Double-A Frisco to join the Texas bullpen as a replacement for Corniell, who will likely go back into the rotation at Round Rock.

The Mets recalled Pintaro from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Pintaro will serve as the 27th man during Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cubs. The right-hander has pitched well when given a chance by the big club, allowing three runs with a 9:1 K:BB over 10.1 innings. Pintaro will likely be sent back down following the twin bill.

Murphy will serve as Chicago's opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Right-hander Erick Fedde is on turn in the rotation and is expected to cover the bulk of the innings for the White Sox out of the bullpen once Murphy exits the contest, likely after covering the first frame or two. The White Sox are banking on the left-handed Murphy neutralizing the top half of the Cleveland lineup, which typically features two left-handed hitters in Travis Bazzana and Kyle Manzardo.

Young (elbow) walked and hit a batter but struck out three in a scoreless inning in his first rehab appearance with Double-A Columbus on Tuesday.

Young began a rehab assignment Saturday at the rookie-level Florida Complex League with a scoreless frame and followed that up with another scoreless outing as he moved up to Columbus. The left-hander is coming back from Tommy John surgery and is tracking toward a season debut around the All-Star break.

Munoz struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 14th save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Pirates.

The right-hander was at his dominant best, firing 12 of 16 pitches for strikes and popping triple digits on the radar gun with half his offerings, topping out at 102 mph. Munoz has been erratic this season, but he may be finding his form -- he's converted saves in four straight scoreless appearances while delivering a 7:2 K:BB in four innings.

Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said after Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Padres in 10 innings that Suarez wasn't available due to forearm tightness, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The injury explains why Atlanta didn't turn to Suarez and instead tried to get two innings out of closer Raisel Iglesias with the score tied late, a move that backfired in the 10th. Suarez last pitched Friday, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings and 28 pitches in a win over the Brewers. Weiss downplayed any concern about Suarez's forearm issue, noting that the right-hander could be ready to return to his usual high-leverage relief role in Wednesday's series finale.

Bednar tossed 1.1 perfect innings Tuesday to record his 15th save of the season in a 4-3 win over the Tigers. He didn't strike out a batter.

The veteran closer relied on weak contact to get the job done, tossing 14 of 17 pitches for strikes. Bednar has reeled off 10 straight scoreless appearances dating back to May 22, going 4-for-4 in save chances while adding a win over that span with a 0.64 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB in 11 innings.

Kilian allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Athletics.

Kilian's last five outings had come in non-save situations, in part due to the Giants' difficulty in earning wins. He pitched 4.2 scoreless innings in that span, and his scoreless streak is up to 8.1 innings with a 12:4 K:BB since his five-run meltdown versus the Rockies on May 29. Kilian has a 2.97 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 39:16 K:BB over 33.1 innings while adding five saves and three holds. He remains the favorite for saves in San Francisco, but the team's poor play makes this a tough bullpen to target in general.

Johnson (1-2) allowed one hit and one walk while striking out eight over six scoreless innings to earn the win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

Johnson had struggled in most of his other appearances this season, allowing three or more runs in four of his first five outings. He found something against the Orioles, throwing 63 of 90 pitches for strikes Tuesday. Over 19.1 innings across six games (three starts), Johnson still has an 8.84 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB. He appears set to do some learning on the job while filling in for Grayson Rodriguez (back) in the Angels' rotation. Johnson is tentatively projected to make his next appearance on the road versus the Mariners.

Newcomb earned the save Tuesday against the Guardians, allowing one walk while striking out two over 2.2 scoreless innings.

With the closer committee of Seranthony Dominguez, Grant Taylor and Bryan Hudson all pitching each of the previous two days, Newcomb was called upon after Sean Burke delivered 6.1 innings of one-run ball. The veteran left-hander took over from there and worked around a lone walk to secure his second save of the season. Newcomb has been excellent since the start of May, posting a 1.50 ERA during that stretch. He now owns a 2.44 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 46:12 K:BB across 48 innings this season.
