Devenski (0-1) surrendered five unearned runs on two hits and one walk while striking out two over one inning of relief in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Yankees.

Though he lowered his season-long ERA to 7.36, Devenski was far from sharp Friday and was dealt his first loss of the campaign. While entering the game in the bottom of the seventh inning with the Rays clinging to a 1-0 lead, Devenski struck out Gleyber Torres to begin the frame before Alex Verdugo reached first base on a Curtis Mead fielding error. Devenski proceeded to walk the next batter before another fielding error allowed the tying run to score. The right-hander then gave up a tie-breaking single followed by a three-run home run to Juan Soto that proved to be all the support the Yankees pitching staff would need on the night. The pair of errors certainly didn't help Devenski, but he's largely been ineffective as a multi-inning reliever for Tampa Bay this season and doesn't appear poised to garner many high-leverage opportunities at any point in the near future.

Chargois (neck) struck out one over a scoreless inning in his rehab appearance Sunday for Triple-A Jacksonville.

Chargois missed most of spring training due to neck spasms before he opened the season on the 15-day injured list, so he'll likely require at least a few more appearances in the minors before the Marlins are comfortable activating him. Once he's added back to the 26-man active roster, Chargois is expected to work in a setup or middle-innings role out of the Miami bullpen after registering a 3.61 ERA and 1.25 WHIP while collecting one win, one save and four holds over 42.1 innings in 2023.

The Mets activated Reid-Foley (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Reid-Foley has been out all season with a right shoulder impingement, but he's ready to go now after making three scoreless rehab appearances. The 28-year-old should fill a middle relief role for the Mets.

The Mets designated Tonkin for assignment Monday.

It's the third time this month that Tonkin has been DFA'd and the second time the move has been made by the Mets. The veteran reliever could clear waivers and would have the option to elect free agency.

The Cubs returned Little to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.

As expected, Little's stay with the Cubs lasted just one day, as he had been designated as the club's 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader with the Marlins. He appeared out of the bullpen in the Cubs' 3-2 loss in Game 1 of the twin bill, striking out one while allowing one hit and one walk in a scoreless inning.

The Mets optioned Hartwig to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

He'll cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to Sean Reid-Foley (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list. Hartwig has permitted a pair of runs over three innings covering two relief appearances with the Mets this season.

Brown worked in relief in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday in the Cubs' 5-3 win over the Marlins, striking out three over two scoreless innings while allowing two hits and no walks.

Though he gave up just one earned run over 10.2 innings while making his last two appearances as a starter, Brown lost his spot in the rotation after Jameson Taillon (back) made his return from the 15-day injured list Friday. According to Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times, manager Craig Counsell said after the doubleheader that he expects Brown to "make a lot of starts for us" this season, but the rookie right-hander looks like he'll have to settle for a bullpen role for now despite his early success in the rotation.

Brash (elbow) will pitch once more at the Mariners' complex in Peoria in coming days before a rehab assignment start date is determined, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

The right-hander's extensive build-up following spring elbow trouble appears to be drawing to a close, and Brash seems to have navigated the process without setbacks thus far. Assuming all goes well with his final throwing session, Brash could be toeing the rubber for one of the Mariners' minor-league affiliates shortly thereafter in what would be his first game action of any kind in 2024.

Alexanders (ribs) is tracking toward starting a minor-league rehab assignment sometime next week, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Alexander has been on the shelf since mid-March after being diagnosed with a left rib stress reaction. The veteran southpaw will probably make a handful of rehab appearances before being activated, but since he's a one-inning reliever, he won't require an extended ramp-up period.

Rainey has averaged 93.6 mph with his fastball so far in 2024, down significantly from the 97.0 mph he averaged over 30 innings in 2022 prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery that August.

In his most recent appearance Saturday, Rainey gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning but topped out at 95.1 mph, and he missed out on a decision as the Nationals went on to win in the 10th. The 31-year-old right-hander has been superficially effective since getting tagged for three runs in his first two outings of the year, and he's allowed just one run in his last six innings. His 1.50 ERA over that stretch comes with a 1.83 WHIP and 5:4 K:BB, however. Rainey has yet to record a win, hold or save in 2024, and he might need to regain his lost velocity if he's going to work his way back into a consistent high-leverage role.
