Yates (3-0) earned the win after he pitched two scoreless innings, allowing a walk while striking out two batters in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Royals.

Yates entered the game in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Rangers trailing 2-1, and he was able to work around a walk to keep it a one-run deficit going into the ninth. After Texas tied it up at 2-2, the right-hander returned for the following frame, setting the Royals down in order. The Rangers went on to win in the 10th inning, earning Yates his third victory of the year. The 37-year-old has yet to allow an earned run this season while posting a 0.50 WHIP with five saves over 14 innings in 12 appearances.

Clase picked up the save Sunday against the Angels, striking out two over a perfect ninth inning.

Clase made quick work of Willie Calhoun, Brandon Drury and Matt Thaiss on Sunday, needing just 10 pitches to retire the side and pick up his 10th save of the campaign. Clase is one of five closers in double figures in the saves category and has walked just one batter across 17.1 innings of action.

Bednar allowed one hit and struck out one over a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Sunday against the Rockies.

Bednar allowed a two-out double but otherwise looked sharp for the second consecutive day as he earned his sixth save Sunday, dropping his ERA to 9.69 and WHIP to 1.46 in the process. Despite the scoreless effort, the Pirates' stopper has allowed at least one run in seven of his 15 appearances this season. Pirate fans and fantasy managers alike hope these last two performances against the listless Rockies will serve as a momentum boost for Bednar, who entered the season as one of the top closers in baseball.

Liberatore pitched 3.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits while striking out five batters in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.

Liberatore was called upon to make his first start of the season Sunday, and he did not disappoint. The southpaw allowed a double to Paul DeJong, who later came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Bryan Ramos, in the second inning, accounting for all the damage on Liberatore's line. The 24-year-old's 50 total pitches were his highest total of the season while the 3.2 innings on the mound set a new high for an outing this season. Operating primarily as a bullpen option in 2024, Liberatore now owns a 2.70 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 15 strikeouts over 20 innings in 13 appearances, including Sunday's start.

The Marlins selected Villalobos' contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.

The right-hander was dropped from Miami's 40-man roster last summer but will now receive another look in the big leagues. Villalobos hasn't been particularly impressive at Triple-A this season with a 4.73 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 13.1 innings.

McCaughan was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Sunday.

McCaughan surrendered eight runs over 4.2 innings during Saturday's 20-4 loss to the Athletics and has now been moved off the Marlins' 40-man roster. He could return to Triple-A Jacksonville if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

The Giants designated White for assignment on Sunday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The right-hander was acquired from the Blue Jays on April 20 and surrendered sever runs over 5.1 frames in three outings for the Giants. White should make his way to Triple-A Sacramento if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

Brown isn't slated to start for the Cubs in their three-game series against the Padres that begins Monday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Hayden Wesneski looks to have beaten out Brown for the fifth-starter spot, at least until Kyle Hendricks (back) gets activated from the 15-day injured list. Brown had a 5.40 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in 8.1 innings over his last two starts. He doesn't have great numbers this season as a reliever (7.27 ERA, 1.50 WHIP), so perhaps Brown will join the Triple-A Iowa rotation once Justin Steele (hamstring) is activated Monday.

Wesneski will start Wednesday against the Padres.

The Cubs are getting Justin Steele (hamstring) back from the 15-day injured list Monday and Kyle Hendricks (back) could return next week, but Wesneski earned at least one more turn in the rotation. Wesneski blanked the Brewers over 6.1 innings while striking out eight Friday, marking the first time he has logged over four innings in the majors this season. He has a 0.54 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and a 14:3 K:BB in 16.2 innings across four appearances. Ben Brown could be the odd man for a starting spot, unless the Cubs go with a six-man rotation this week.

Brogdon (foot) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Brogdon is ready for game action again after he was placed on the 15-day injured list April 13 due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot. He'll likely need at least a couple appearances in the minors before the Dodgers feel comfortable bringing him back from the IL.
