Smith (shoulder) resumed a rehab assignment with High-A Brooklyn on Sunday, tossing a scoreless inning, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Smith was close to being activated earlier this month before experiencing a setback. He's back on the comeback trail now, though, and is expected to return in about a week after making a couple more rehab appearances.

The Orioles optioned Vespi to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

Vespi is clearing out to make room for Thyago Vieira, who has officially been added to the roster after being acquired via trade over the weekend. The left-handed Vespi has made one appearance with the Orioles this season, throwing a scoreless inning.

Miller (elbow) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Miller required a hydrodissection procedure to combat right ulnar nerve inflammation and says he's now "feeling a lot better." The reliever threw his third bullpen session since landing on the injured list on Sunday and is now ready to test things out in games. Miller shouldn't need too many rehab appearances before being activated.

Suarez picked up the save in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Yankees, striking out two while allowing one run on two hits in 1.1 innings.

Suarez came in with two runners on and two out in the eighth to face Aaron Judge and bested him with a strikeout. He returned for the ninth and started off by allowing a home run to Alex Verdugo but was able to get the job done from there. The home run was the first run Suarez has given up since March 28. He continues to be one of the most dominant closers in baseball this year, as he's now tied for third with 15 saves and owns a 0.76 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 23:5 K:BB in 23.2 innings.

Brzykcy (elbow) began a rehab assignment Wednesday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League, striking out two and allowing one run on one hit and no walks in a one-inning start.

Brzykcy is nearing the finish line in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in April 2023. Prior to suffering the major elbow injury, Brzykcy flashed enough promise as a reliever in the minors for the Nationals to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft this past winter and add him to the 40-man roster. He'll likely need a few more rehab outings in lower levels of the minors to ramp back up before he's activated from Double-A Harrisburg's 60-day injured list, but the hard-throwing righty could eventually settle at Triple-A Rochester or even in the big-league bullpen later this season if he's quickly able to recapture his pre-injury form.

Walston did not factor into the decision in Sunday's loss to the Marlins. He tossed 4.2 scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and a walk and striking out four.

Walston kept the Marlins' bats at bay and looked sharp in his first MLB start. He struck out a pair in the opening frame and was able to shut down the minimal scoring opportunities against him. Walston also pounded the zone, throwing 46 of his 65 pitches for strikes while garnering eight whiffs on the afternoon. Manager Torey Lovullo has not yet indicated whether Walston will get another start or not. If he does, the 23-year-old lefty would line up to face the Mets in New York this weekend. He now has nine strikeouts over his first 8.1 big league innings.

Scott picked up the save Sunday in a 3-1 win over the Diamondbacks, throwing a perfect ninth while striking out a batter.

Scott faced no trouble from the Diamondback hitters Sunday. He sent them down in order on 15 pitches and struck out Eugenio Suarez to end the game. Scott has not allowed an earned run since April 14 and finished May with three wins, three saves and a hold in nine appearances. He's up to seven saves on the year now and carries a 1.64 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 23:18 K:BB in 22 innings.

Helsley allowed a run on three hits in one inning but earned the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cubs. He struck out a batter in the outing.

Helsley ran into trouble against the Cubs for the second consecutive night and was still able to escape with a save. He allowed a leadoff home run to Ian Happ and then gave up back-to-back two-out singles before getting Seiya Suzuki to end things with a fly out. That's now seven hits and three runs given up by Helsley over his last two appearances, though both still turned into saves. He's tied with Emmanuel Clase atop baseball with 17 saves and still owns excellent overall numbers with a 2.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 25:4 K:BB in 24 innings.

Triple-A Sacramento placed Roupp on its 7-day injured list Friday with an unspecified injury.

Roupp won a spot on the Giants' Opening Day roster as a multi-inning relief arm, but he was sent back to Triple-A on May 1 and had since taken on a rotation spot for Sacramento. Through three starts, Roupp posted a 2.79 ERA and 1.20 WHIP while striking out 16 over 9.2 innings. The injury comes at a particular inconvenient time, as the Giants might have had an opening in the rotation for Roupp this week after recently pulling the plug on Mason Black as their No. 5 starter.

Clase allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned a save over the Angels on Sunday.

Clase worked around a two-out single to close out the 5-4 victory and pick up his 17th save of the year. He's gone 20.1 straight innings without allowing an earned run and he's converted 13 of his last 14 save chances. Clase's ERA is down to a ridiculous 0.33 with a 26:2 K:BB through 27.1 frames.
