Scott picked up a save against Houston on Wednesday by retiring both batters he faced, including one by strikeout.

Dylan Cease gave San Diego 8.1 scoreless frames, and Scott was brought in to finish off the Astros with a pair of runners on base in the ninth. The reliever struck out Yordan Alvarez, then got Alex Bregman to fly out to end the game. The save was Scott's 21st of the season but his first since Aug. 27, as most of his saves came while he was with Miami prior to the trade deadline. Robert Suarez, who pitched the previous three days, remains the most likely Padres reliever to handle save chances for the club.

Snider (3-4) was charged with the extra-inning loss against the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing an unearned run on one hit over two innings. He struck out three.

Snider was a tough-luck loser and victim of the Mariners' offensive ineptitude Wednesday, as he put together a near-perfect outing that saw him throw 17 of 20 pitches for strikes. However, the right-hander faltered in the 10th inning by allowing a leadoff double to Anthony Rizzo, which plated phantom runner Jasson Dominguez to snap a 1-1 tie. Snider has given up just one earned run over his last 9.2 innings (nine appearances), and although he does have four holds to show for it, he's also taken two of his four losses on the season during that stretch.

Ferguson (4-2) got the win against the Cubs on Wednesday, firing a scoreless seventh inning during which he issued a walk.

Ferguson threw only three of his 10 pitches for strikes, but he was able to get through the seventh frame unscathed and then saw the Athletics snap a 3-3 tie in the eighth to make him the pitcher of record. Ferguson has now strung together four consecutive scoreless appearances after a rocky early-September stretch during which he surrendered five runs (four earned) across 3.1 innings over four appearances.

Holmes was charged with a blown save in Wednesday's extra-inning win over Seattle, allowing a solo home run over two-thirds of an inning while striking out one.

Holmes took the mound with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and walked the first batter he faced before getting Cal Raleigh to fly out to left field for the final out. The right-hander returned for the eighth and got Randy Arozarena to go down swinging for the first out but was then taken deep by Justin Turner as Seattle tied the game at 1-1. Holmes would not complete the inning after being charged with his league-leading 13th blown save of the campaign, and he's now surrendered six runs over seven relief appearances this month (span of five innings). He's also given up at least one hit in five of his last seven outings.

Weaver (6-3) picked up the win in an extra-inning battle against the Mariners on Wednesday, allowing one walk over 1.2 scoreless innings while striking out four.

Weaver relieved Clay Holmes with one out in the bottom of the eighth after the latter surrendered a solo home run to Justin Turner to tie the game at 1-1. The 31-year-old Deland native then got the next two batters to go down on strikes before adding another two strikeouts in the ninth. The win was Weaver's sixth on the campaign, and he's now logged multiple strikeouts in five-consecutive appearances. He sports a 2.16 ERA in September to go along with a dominant 17:3 K:BB.

Hamilton picked up the save in Wednesday's extra-inning win over the Mariners on Wednesday, allowing one hit over a scoreless 10th inning while striking out two.

Hamilton entered the contest in the bottom of the 10th after the Yankees took a one-run lead in the top of the frame. He proceeded to allow a leadoff single to Cal Raleigh to advance Julio Rodriguez to third, but lucked out after getting Randy Arozarena to go down on strikes as Rodriguez was also picked off for the second out. The right-hander then got the final batter to go down on strikes to secure his first save of the campaign. Hamilton has now recorded multiple strikeouts in three-consecutive outings and hasn't allowed a run over four appearances this month. It still appears that Luke Weaver, who pitched in the ninth inning Wednesday, will see most of the remaining save opportunities for the Yankees moving forward, though it's possible that Hamilton may have thrown his hat in the mix as well.

The Reds recalled Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.

Zulueta has made nine relief appearances with the Reds this season, yielding nine runs (eight earned) with a 14:6 K:BB over 13 frames. He'll provide some bullpen protection for Cincinnati.

The Reds optioned Legumina to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.

Legumina went 1.2 innings and threw 36 pitches out of the bullpen in Wednesday's loss to Atlanta. The Reds are replacing him with a fresh arm in Yosver Zulueta, who was summoned from Louisville.

Yates picked up the save over Toronto on Wednesday, striking out two over a perfect ninth inning.

Yates took over for David Robertson to start the ninth with the Rangers up 2-0 and got Vladimir Guerrero to go down on strikes in the opening at-bat. The veteran reliever then needed nine pitches to get through the final two batters and log his 31st save of the campaign. Yates has converted all six of his save opportunities in September and hasn't allowed a run since Aug. 29 against the White Sox. He's also recorded multiple strikeouts in two of his last three appearances.

Francis (8-5) took the loss against the Rangers on Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Francis allowed the leadoff man to reach in each of the first two innings but didn't surrender a run in the contest until the bottom of the sixth when Adolis Garcia took him deep for a two-run homer. Those would be the only runs allowed on the night for the right-hander, who's now given up at least one long ball in three consecutive outings. It marked Francis' seventh straight quality start, though he's now taken losses in two of his last three trips to the mound after previously winning four in a row. Despite the two losses, he still carries a strong 2.70 ERA through three September outings and has posted six strikeouts in two of his last three starts.
