  • Cubs' Daniel Palencia: Yields walk-off

Palencia surrendered one run on two hits without recording an out during Sunday's 6-5 loss to Colorado.

Palencia took the mound in the bottom of the ninth inning with the score tied and surrendered a single and a walk-off triple to the first two batters he faced. Palencia has had a rough August, having allowed six runs in 10.1 innings across 12 appearances. He has three losses and one blown save during that stretch. Palencia's ERA sits at 2.20 on the season.

  • Kenley Jansen RP | LAA

Angels' Kenley Jansen: Perfect for 25th save

Jansen picked up the save Sunday against the Astros, throwing a perfect ninth inning. He did not record a strikeout.

Jansen became the ninth player in baseball to hit the 25-save milestone this season, and he did so by retiring Yordan Alvarez, Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa in order. Jansen has now fired three consecutive hitless innings, a streak that follows back-to-back losses during which Jansen yielded three runs across two innings total. He has a 2.94 ERA in 52 innings this season.

  • Braves' Raisel Iglesias: Locks down 23rd save

Iglesias struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 3-1 win over Philadelphia.

Iglesias had a fantastic August, allowing one run while posting a 13:0 K:BB across 13 innings. He picked up 10 saves this month and is up to 23 on the year. While he's had some rough patches, as seen in his 3.81 ERA over 56.2 innings, he's also sporting a stingy 1.02 WHIP and 61:10 K:BB, which suggests his missteps have largely been bad luck rather than a deterioration of skill.

  • Pirates' Carmen Mlodzinski: Headed for piggyback start Tuesday

Mlodzinski is listed as the Pirates' starting pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers at PNC Park, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Mlodzinski will receive another turn through the Pittsburgh rotation, but for the second outing in a row, he'll most likely be deployed in tandem with rookie Bubba Chandler. In his previous start this past Wednesday versus the Cardinals, Mlodzinski was lifted after allowing one earned run over three innings and 46 pitches, with Chandler then taking over and getting credited with the win after tossing four shutout frames. Even if he's able to keep the Dodgers offense at bay Tuesday, Mlodzinski is unlikely to reach the five innings he would need to qualify for a win, making him an unappealing streaming option.

  • Mike Vasil RP | CHW

White Sox's Mike Vasil: Collects third save

Vasil earned the save in Sunday's 3-2 victory over the Yankees, pitching a clean inning with one strikeout.

The White Sox right-hander fired 12 pitches, eight of which were strikes, to succinctly close out this contest. Vasil became the fourth different Chicago reliever to tally a save in August, with Jordan Leasure, Grant Taylor and Steven Wilson all also notching saves during the month while the team employs a closer-by-committee approach. Vasil has been a dependable arm with a 2.50 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 72:45 K:BB across 90 total frames and should continue to garner occasional save opportunities.

  • Yennier Cano RP | BAL

Orioles' Yennier Cano: Looking to get on track

Cano threw 1.1 scoreless innings of relief Sunday against the Giants, allowing one hit and one walk with no strikeouts.

Although Cano has turned in four scoreless appearances over his last six, his last clean outing was back on Aug. 2 versus the Cubs. Given the 31-year-old right-hander's struggles -- Cano has a 6.46 ERA and 1.62 WHIP since the start of May -- Keegan Akin likely remains the favorite for saves for the last-place Orioles.

  • Ian Seymour RP | TB

Rays' Ian Seymour: Fans eight in win

Seymour (3-0) allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk over five innings Sunday, striking out eight and earning a win over Washington.

Seymour gave up one run through three innings before two fourth-inning errors put three unearned runs on his line. The Rays scored three runs in the first three frames to lead Seymour to his second straight win. The rookie southpaw threw 57 of 82 pitches for strikes, and he generated 16 whiffs, including eight with his changeup. Seymour has looked impressive since joining the rotation, going 2-0 with a 16:2 K:BB over 10 innings. He owns a 2.97 ERA with a 42:10 K:BB at the MLB level this year. Seymour is projected to face the Guardians at home next weekend.

  • Kade Strowd RP | BAL

Orioles' Kade Strowd: Works scoreless outing Sunday

Strowd threw 1.2 scoreless innings of relief Sunday against the Giants, allowing one hit and one walk with one strikeout.

The rookie right-hander continues to be an effective member of Baltimore's new-look bullpen. Through 17 innings, Strowd has overcome a concerning 9:8 K:BB to produce a strong 1.59 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. Strowd has no holds or save chances in 2025, so he'll likely need to miss more bats and cut down on the walks in order to work his way up the pecking order.

  • Brad Lord RP | WAS

Nationals' Brad Lord: Tagged with seven runs

Lord (4-8) yielded seven runs on five hits and two walks over three innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Rays.

The Rays jumped on Lord early with a huge six-run second inning, capped off by Brandon Lowe's grand slam. Lord gave up another run in the third and ended his afternoon with 62 pitches (36 strikes). Since rejoining the Nationals' rotation in late July, he had thrown at least four innings in all seven starts before Sunday's ugly outing. Lord posted a 4.54 ERA during that seven-start span. He now owns a 4.34 ERA with an 85:35 K:BB through 103.2 innings this season. Lord is projected for a road start against the Cubs next weekend.

  • Giants' Spencer Bivens: Secures three-inning save

Bivens allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while failing to record a strikeout over three innings, earning the save in Sunday's 13-2 win over the Orioles.

Bivens was able to help spare the bullpen and came away with his second career save. The right-hander has done fine in a multi-inning relief role this year. He allowed eight runs (six earned) while posting an 8:4 K:BB over 16 innings across nine appearances in August. For the season, he has a 4.28 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 51:21 K:BB through 69.1 innings, all coming out of the bullpen.
