Reds closer Aroldis Chapman has come off the disabled list. He has missed the entire season after taking a line drive to the face in spring training.

Chapman was rocked in his rehab stint with Triple-A Louisville. He surrendered eight runs on seven hits in just one inning pitched. But the Reds have decided to activate him anyway.

He racked up 76 saves in the last two seasons combined with an absurd 234 strikeouts in 135 1/3 innings.

Giants reliever George Kontos will be sent down Saturday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Kontos was absent from the team's lineup card Saturday, indicating he's been sent down. Tyler Colvin was brought up to take his roster spot.

Mets reliever Carlos Torres had a shaky outing and was pegged with the loss Friday night against the Phillies in extras.

Torres (2-2) surrendered the go-ahead run-scoring double to Marlon Byrd in the 11th inning. He was charged with one run on two hits and two walks while striking out two in one inning of work. He owns a 3.15 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP in 20 innings pitched.

Braves closer Craig Kimbrel failed to lock down a save in the ninth inning of Friday's win over the Cubs.

Kimbrel surrendered a run-scoring single to Ryan Kalish in the ninth to send the game to extras. He allowed one run on two hits and one walk in one inning of work. He owns a 2.70 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP in 13 1/3 innings.

Pirates reliever Mark Melancon worked his way around a hit and need only 10 pitches to complete a scoreless ninth inning, securing a 6-4 win and his third save of the season Friday night against the Cardinals. He owns a 1.59 ERA and a 0.76 WHIP in 17 innings.

Reds closer Aroldis Chapman will likely be activated from the disabled list Saturday, according to MLB.com.

Chapman was initially expected to be activated Friday, but manager Bryan Price wants to see him play catch first. He'll likely return to action Saturday.

Cardinals starter Joe Kelly could be sidelined until June due to a hamstring injury, according to CBSSports Radio 920. 

General manager John Mozeliak appeared on the station, saying Kelly hasn't progressed much since suffering the injury. Kelly last pitched in a major-league game April 16. He's been on the shelf with the issue since then. In his first three starts, Kelly posted a 0.59 ERA over 15 1/3 innings. 

The Phillies have demoted reliever Shawn Camp to Triple-A Lehigh Valley and promoted fellow right-hander Luis Garcia.

The 38-year-old Camp, who had been called up on April 18, gave up two earned runs on seven hits in just 3 1/3 innings.

Reds closer Aroldis Chapman made what could be his final rehab outing Wednesday, and he didn't quite seem ready to return to the majors.

Chapman was tagged for three runs on three hits in just one-third of an inning, with one walk and a strikeout. He has allowed eight runs and seven hits in one full inning of work for Triple-A Louisville.

"He obviously wasn't terribly sharp," Reds manager Bryan Price told MLB.com Wednesday. "He got hit, walked a couple of guys, hit a guy, so it wasn't an excellent outing. We would like him, when we activate him, to be ready to go. We'll make an assessment, I'm sure, in the next couple of days."

The Reds' plan was always to have Chapman make four rehab appearances as he works his way back from being hit in the face by a line drive in the spring. Price will speak with the Louisville coaching staff before making a decision on Chapman's readiness, but he could be back with the big-league team Friday against the Rockies. 

Temporary Pirates closer Mark Melancon recovered from a blown save Monday to nail one down Wednesday against San Francisco.

Melancon entered with a one-run lead and retired the Giants on three straight flyouts to snag his second save of the season.
