Biddle (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Tuesday.

Biddle is still recovering from his Tommy John surgery in October, and will be out for the entire 2016 season. The former first-round pick will try to get his career back on track when he returns to full strength after a posting a disappointing 6.25 ERA in Triple-A last season.

Montero was recalled by the Mets on Tuesday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.

Steven Matz's disastrous start Monday led to the Mets' bullpen being taxed for 7.1 innings of work, which led the club to call up Montero to provide a fresh arm in the back end. Montero, a 25-year-old right-hander, last pitched at Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, allowing one earned run in five innings of work. He would be the likely candidate to eat up some innings if the Mets have another starter fail to make it deep into a game. No corresponding move for Montero's placement on the active roster has been made at this time, though the Mets can place Jacob deGrom on the paternity list.

The Indians accepted Martin back from the Padres on Tuesday after he was designated for assignment by San Diego on April 3.

The former Rule 5 pick would have had to remain on the Padres' active roster this season or else he'd have to be offered back to his former team, the Indians. A shaky spring made Martin expendable for the Padres, so he'll head back to the Indians organization and report to Triple-A Columbus.

Johnson will undergo X-rays on Tuesday after being struck by a line drive in his start Monday against New Orleans, Tommy Birch of The Des Moines Register reports.

Johnson actually continued to pitch after getting struck, but he was pulled shortly thereafter once he completed the third inning. The results of his X-rays will shed some light on the extent of his injury, but as for now, manager Marty Pevey said the pitcher is only dealing with a contusion and could be in line to make his next start.

Rodney earned his first save of 2016, allowing a hit in a scoreless ninth inning against the Phillies Monday.

The outing was only Rodney's second appearance of the young season. The veteran right hander pitched well after going to Chicago late last season, but had a 4.74 ERA over the entirety of 2015. Rodney should be the choice for saves in San Diego unless his performance falters.

Edgin threw 27 pitches in two-thirds of an inning during a rehab assignment with High-A St. Lucie, Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reports.

Edgin was not overly effective, as he gave up a hit, a walk and a sacrifice fly in the outing, but the appearance does show some progress in his return from Tommy John surgery. He still has a few more rehab appearances scheduled, and the Mets still estimate that the left-hander will return around May 1.

Manager Pete Mackanin refused to call Gomez the Phillies' closer when asked Sunday, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports. "I don't want to jump to conclusions here," Mackanin said. "Let's keep playing it out until we see what happens."

Gomez has saves in each of the Phillies' last two wins, so it's likely that he'll continue to get save chances for the time being. It remains possible that the Phillies could turn to David Hernandez or Andrew Bailey (if he gets recalled from the minors this month) in the event that Gomez struggles.

Neris picked up his second hold of the season Sunday with two scoreless innings against the Mets.

Manager Pete Mackanin has Neris throwing his splitter more this season because of the good movement on the pitch. He struck out three and faced the minimum six batters in his outing Sunday. The 26-year-old righty has a 5:1 K:BB in 4.1 innings thus far.

Miller allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks across five innings pitched en route to a loss Sunday against the Cubs. He struck out six.

Miller faltered for the second straight start, serving up hittable pitches despite throwing 62% for strikes. The increase in strikeouts from his first start was a positive sign, but the fact that he has struggled in back-to-back home starts to begin his Arizona career is disconcerting. Miller will try to right the ship Saturday at San Diego.

Nelson (1-1) allowed two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out nine over six innings, and earned the win Sunday against the Astros.

Despite giving up a pair of solo homers, Nelson otherwise held the Astros in check, and the offense gave him just enough run support to earn him the victory. Although his record sits at 1-1, Nelson has only allowed two runs in each of his first two starts of the season. He'll make his next start Friday at the Pirates.
