Nelson allowed six runs, five of which were earned, and eight hits and one walk while striking out five over five innings, but received no decision Saturday at the Reds.

Nelson put the Brewers in a four-run hole in the third inning, but the offense exploded in the late innings to take him off the hook for a potential loss. This was easily his worst start of the season, and it raised his ERA to 3.74. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Padres.

Miller (1-3) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one over six innings to earn the win Saturday at the Braves.

Miller gave up single runs in each of the first two innings before shutting down the Braves while the offense gave him a lead just before he exited the contest. After failing to register a quality start in any of his first six outings, he finally was able to record one, though it only lowered his ERA to 7.36. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Giants.

Hoover was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.

The Reds announced a series of moves Saturday afternoon, and Hoover will head to Triple-A as right-hander Drew Hayes comes up from Louisville to assume his spot on the roster. Hoover struggled mightily in 12 appearances for the Reds, conceding 19 hits and 17 earned runs across just 10.2 innings.

Matzek (personal) will pitch in an extended spring training game Saturday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.

Matzek seems to be getting near a return to regular action now that he's able to pitch in game situations again. As long as no setbacks occur, the left-hander could enter the Triple-A rotation within the next week or two.

Adleman (1-0) surrendered four hits, an earned run and three walks over five innings in Friday's 5-1 victory over the Brewers. He struck out four.

After an impressive major league debut against the Pirates on Sunday, Adleman picked up his first career victory at home with an equally effective outing. His control was a bit more of an issue Friday, as Adleman had to exit after only five frames due to an elevated pitch count (101). However, the 28-year-old rookie was able to notch first-pitch strikes on 14 of the 23 batters he faced and induce 16 missed swings as well. He'll attempt to keep his momentum going in a rematch against the Pirates in Cincinnati next Wednesday.

Rodney worked around a pair of walks, striking out two, in a scoreless inning Friday versus the Mets to earn his eighth save of the season.

The veteran has still yet to be scored upon this season through 12 innings, and the free passes actually represented the first baserunners he had allowed to reach in four appearances. Rodney has been a pleasant surprise for the Padres this season after a nightmarish 2015, and the looks poised to continue delivering saves for his owners for the time being.

Pomeranz evened his record to 3-3 with Friday's win over the Mets, striking out five with three walks in five scoreless innings.

The left-hander gave the Mets lineup fits Friday, but an elevated pitch-count limited him to his second-shortest outing of the season. Regardless, Pomeranz has been a pleasant surprise for the Padres this season, with a 2.12 ERA and an impressive 10.85 K/9 rate, and he will look to keep it rolling Wednesday at the Cubs.

Melancon struck out one batter and allowed one hit in a scoreless ninth inning Friday, recording his eighth save of the season.

He gave up a double to the red-hot Aledmys Diaz but otherwise pitched efficiently, throwing nine of 12 pitches for strikes. Melancon's one red flag might be his low ground-ball rate. Entering Friday, he was well off his career rate (55.9 percent) through the first five-plus weeks of 2016 (39.4 percent). He continued that trend Friday, giving up two fly balls and one ground ball against the Cardinals.

Castro (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Friday, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.

The Rockies are being intentionally slow with Castro, as he is a prized long-term bullpen arm, and it is unclear when he'll head out on a rehab assignment. If everything goes smoothly, he could be back in late May.

Mazzaro was designated for assignment by the Giants on Friday.

The Rockies kept the hit parade going against Mazzaro after Matt Cain left Thursday's game, racking up six base knocks and seven earned runs off the right-hander. Mazzaro managed to record just one out. He will now be subjected to waivers, but Mazzaro may ultimately accept an outright assignment back to Triple-A.
