Boscan was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Boscan was hit hard in his outing against the Angels on Friday, allowing two earned runs with four hits and four walks while recording just one strikeout in 3.1 innings. The Pirates also optioned Rob Scahill on Saturday and recalled relievers Cory Luebke and Curtis Partch.

Nelson was hammered for six runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out one while lasting just four innings in a 6-3 loss to Philadelphia on Friday night.

This broke a string of four consecutive quality starts - eight of his 11 starts have been quality. However, it should be noted that Nelson (5-4) sometimes litters the bases with extra runners. He has generally been able to wiggle off the hook, but any time you put extra runners on base, you run the risk of a big inning. He'll try to get back on track in his next start against the Mets in Milwaukee.

Gomez logged a perfect ninth inning to record his 18th save in the Phillies 6-3 win over Milwaukee on Friday night. He struck out two.

It's true - Gomez doesn't have the dominating stuff of most closers, but there have been others who enjoyed success with average stuff. With 18 saves and a very respectable 2.79 ERA, Gomez is quickly adding himself to that list. And, in the process he is likely building considerable job security.

Pomeranz (5-5) tossed seven scoreless innings during Friday's win against the Rockies, in which he allowed only two hits and two walks while fanning eight.

The success of Pomeranz in the San Diego rotation has been a bright spot for the Padres through the first two-plus months of the 2016 season. He continues to miss bats at an elite clip (10.3 K/9), while avoiding the damage of his free passes (4.3 BB/9) by getting many of his outs on the ground (49.0% GB%) and keeping the ball in the park (0.55 HR/9). He'll take on the Braves at home Wednesday in his next scheduled start.

Rusin (1-4) allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks over the course of seven innings against the Padres on Friday, but he was credited with the loss. He struck out three.

Rusin threw 55 of his 90 pitches for strikes, but a three-run homer allowed to Matt Kemp proved to be too much for the Colorado offense to overcome against Drew Pomeranz on Friday night. The 29-year-old lefty has allowed 10 runs in his last two starts, and he will look to bounce back in his next outing against the Dodgers on the road Wednesday.

Jansen allowed a hit during a scoreless inning against the Braves on Friday night to record the save in a 4-2 victory.

Jansen remains one of the best closers in all of baseball. The 28-year-old right-hander hasn't allowed a run in any of his last four outings, and he's converted 16 of his 18 save chances this year. With another scoreless frame on the ledger, Jansen's season ERA dropped to 1.29.

Weber was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

Weber only spent three days with the Braves during this stint, pitching two scoreless innings Thursday against the Giants. He was also recalled earlier this season but didn't last much longer, as in three games Weber gave up nine earned runs in only 7.2 innings. Although the 25-year-old has had some struggles at the next level, he has pitched solidly for Gwinnett, touting a 2.81 ERA during 25.2 innings on the mound. Weber was sent down in order to make room for Jim Johnson coming off of the disabled list, but could make another appearance with the big league club at some point later on this summer.

Wittgren (1-0) was credited with the win against the Pirates on Thursday after tossing three perfect innings in which he fanned three.

Wittgren lowered his ERA to 1.59 on the season, and the 25-year-old had easily his best outing of the year. He's seen limited time in the majors, but he's been quite effective thus far. He hasn't allowed runs in 5.2 innings over his last three outings.

Barraclough allowed one run on one hit and a walk during one inning of work Thursday against the Pirates. He struck out two.

Barraclough blew his first save of the season after allowing an RBI single to John Jaso in the top of the ninth inning. He remains an important part of Miami's bullpen this season, but his value would increase greatly if he proves he can handle save situations more effectively.

Miller (finger) threw a side session Wednesday and is slated to pitch in an extended spring training game over the weekend, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Miller continues to work back from a sprained finger on his throwing hand, but he looks to already be making significant progress after hitting the DL late last week. Assuming the weekend outing goes well, Miller could embark on a brief rehab stint before returning to the Diamondbacks sometime in the next 10-to-15 days.
